US President Barack Obama telephoned his South African counterpart Jacob Zuma to express his condolences on the death of  Nelson Mandela

NELSON MANDELA IS DEAD

Nelson Mandela, the anti-apartheid leader who became South Africa's first democratically elected president and a symbol of reconciliation to many around the world, has died.

The country's president Jacob Zuma said tonight the 'Father of the Nation' of South Africa passed away aged 95.

The man, identified as Akeem, believed to be in his 50s was a father of four children living in his one room apartment with his wife. His wife and three children were said to have travelled to Imodi Imosan to celebrate sallah with his families and he used the opportunity of their absence to invite his lover home. It was alleged that Akeem had brought in the lady (whose identity was unknown) on the night his wife travelled with his children.

Some hoodlums on Thursday were seen exchanging blows and throwing bottles at one another over the money they found on the dead victims of the Associated Airline plane crash.the hoodlums had turned the road leading to the crash site to a boxing ground.

Police have identified the cab driver gunned down in Adams Morgan Tuesday morning and charged his assailants.

Just before 3 a.m., officers working an undercover tactical robbery unit saw 57-year-old Solomon James Okoroh in distress in the 2400 block of Ontario Road. The officers heard gunshots, saw two men get out of Okoroh's taxi and pursued them.

During the pursuit, one of the suspects exchanged fire with officers. Witnesses reported hearing more than a dozen shots.
