Simon Osborne, the British  journalist, who reported that the Federal Government of Nigeria ordered 53 customised gold-plated iPhone 5S mobile handsets valued at  N682m from a company based in the  United Kingdom, has said he will stand  by his story.

In an exclusive online interview with our correspondent on Thursday, Osborne said he is “annoyed’’ that the Chief Executive Officer of Gold and Co, Amjad Ali, “changed his story’’ after an online protest had greeted the development from Nigeria.

 Amjad Ali CEO of Gold and Co,UK, told UK newspaper,The Independent a few days ago that the Nigerian government ordered 53 gold-plated iPhone 5S worth N682million from his firm as part of the memorabilia for the nation’s 53rd Independence anniversary scheduled for October 1, 2013.

Even though Amjad cried out he had been misquoted saying that the phones were not ordered by the government but by a Nigerian who asked them to put the crest of the Nigerian govt on the back of the phones .The Independent added his response to their story after it had been published but report which went viral does not seem to be going away and President Jonathan's people have released their well worded response  .....
