Popular Lagos socialite Funmilola Arike Ogbuaya, widely known as Ariket, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after a Federal High Court in Lagos found her guilty of conspiracy, aiding, and attempting to export 1.595kg of cocaine to Saudi Arabia.
The case dates back to 2017, when her associate Odeyemi Omolara (also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi) was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport with the drugs concealed in her luggage while preparing to board a flight to Saudi Arabia.
Omolara later pleaded guilty before a different judge and received a 25‑year sentence, naming Ariket as the person who handed her the drug‑laden bag.
After a full trial, Justice Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
He imposed 15 years each on the three counts , conspiracy, possession, and attempted export , but ordered that the terms run concurrently, meaning Ariket will serve an effective 15 years, calculated from her arrest in May 2017.
Throughout the trial, Ariket denied involvement.

She admitted knowing Omolara but insisted she had no connection to the drugs.
The court rejected her defence.

When you see them spraying money at parties, you'd be tempted to wonder why yours is different. There are lots of them, especially in yorubawood. Envy no one.
ReplyDeleteI really hope she was guilty, it's won't be nice that she did jail time for what she knows nothing about
