Veteran rapper and Manchester United fan- Ruggedman defeated Gbenga Adeyinka- an Arsenal fan- to emerge the winner of the first version of Celebrity Super fan Challenge on Saturday January 11,2014.
The event whose organiser - female sports presenter Kiibati Bankole had promised would be the most exciting football party in Nigeria, lived up to expectations, as football fans from all works of life stormed the venue in Opebi and had the time of their lives.
Both contestants were thoroughly entertaining and did justice to all the questions fired at them by Kiibati and a panel of judges that included actor Segun Arinze, Beverly Osu from Big Brother Africa and comedian/singer Jafextra.
One of the highpoints of the event was when Kiibati asked Gbenga to compose a rap track dissing his opponent's club (Manchester United) and Ruggedman to compose a joke making fun of Arsenal and make everyone in the audience laugh, in a reverse of their proffessions.
This exercise left everyone in the audience rolling in laughter, as they both aced the assignment.
Another highpoint of the night was when they were tasked by the judges to dance to an akpala track while displaying football related moves. Ruggedman was awarded this round by the judges, winning the tightly fought match by 5 goals to 4.
Overall, it was an exciting event, with musical performances by EFA and Jaffextra, and food and drinks from the organisers.
We look forward to the next event and hope that the contestants will be as lively and creative as these two were.
