Being pregnant is not a problem at all,the only programme was that the groom had disciplined himself sexually and vowed not to make love to his wife until the wedding night!
I don't want to judge anyone and i don't know what went wrong but this brings to question....why didn't the Church call off the wedding a day before when their tests revealed she was pregnant?
Who gives these churches the right to conduct tests on couples?
What if their report is wrong?

Let me play the devil's advocate for a minute. If the guy was waiting for after their wedding before having sex with her, I think this is what has caused the trouble. I assume that the girl couldn't restrain herself from having sex, hence, since hubby to be won't do, she decided to have fun outside before marriage. Now we cannot prove that the husband is a saint becos he may have had sex else where with a guinea pig lady for send off sex too. Stella the Church policy is against pre-marital sex before marriage, and they keep announcing it in church and during marriage counselling, its not by force to be married in RCCG, but if you must be married there then abide by their rules, and the church had also cancelled the wedding when the girl was discovered to be pregnant so please leave the church out of this. Nobody stopped the couple from going somewhere else to be married when RCCG declined, there are plenty of places where they could have gone to be married, better still invite a pastor to the venue of the reception and get it over with, but the groom choose to call it off. Its the doctrine of most pentecostal churches to conduct tests and couples are well aware of these facts before they decide to be joined in these churches. There are lots of Other churches that dont conduct tests so its a matter of choice.

The doctor said only 2 scenario could hav happened either she was 1 week pregnant dats y it wasn't giving a positive result in d urine or she just had an abortion. And that's y the blood was reading a positive. By the time they wanted to go to a high class diagnostic center she confessed that she actually had an abortion! And they had done their traditional wedding 2 months back although her husband hadn't slept with her yet!

I also travelled to the us that period and on my way back got clear blue ovulation test strip,the expensive one with many strips because at this point our friends had started wagging tongues even though our families neva pressurised us.I used prayers,the drugs I was placed on and the strip and that same month I got my prince.

I went for checkup and d test result came out blank. Was confused when the doctor said that he couldn't really confirm my real status of being pregnant or not. It most times happens in women with hormonal imbalance. After 2months of psycological trauma, my flow came. I danced 'windeck' steps tire. Lollll. ReplyDeleteI was devastated, cried for days, thank God for my parents who believed in me, we realized that it's an hormonal thing, what she's supposed to do is pee on a stick, when the blood test is positive, if her case is the same as mine, the store-bought pregnancy kit tested with urine will be negative, I know blood is supposed to be more accurate, but in this situation the blood is causing a false positive. I saw an OB-gyn after that who asked questions about my period and all (I am extremely regular with no pains), and he said I should just leave it be until I try to have children, if there are issues, I should consult an OB-gyn again.
I do not think this woman is guilty and I really feel for her because I've been in her shoes. Thank God i got the job eventually though

ReplyDeleteok the guy didn't touch her after the traditional wedding , what about b4 the traditional wedding? most ladies are so stupid 2 wanna do sometin just to protect their man's image especially if the so called husband to be is respected in the church, while on d other hand d man will neva sacrifice anything 4 her. when i was with RCCG Abundant Life Parish Boundary Road Benin City year 2006 a similar incident happened, the guy and lady were engaged to be married but the marriage committee found out that they wer co-inhabiting and decided to discipline both of them before their wedding. the day the elders invited them for questioning the guy denied ever seeing the girls nakedness they also asked him if they were staying in the same house he also denied , b4 then the guy has asked the girl to deny everytin if not he will deny her b4 the marriage committee but the lady couldn't hold on for long when they asked her the last question with the bible she broke into tears and started confessing. she said they have been together for almost a year plus and she has aborted twice and even pregnant as at dat time. o boy see denial from the fiance he started telling he neva touched the girl , that the girl was way ward , everytime the girl will be traveling from state to state to meet her boyfriends. the guy went as far as swearing in God's name. the poor girl was punished gave her the back sit for six months because she and the guy were devoted workers in RCCG . the guy went away free becos the girl couldn't defend herself. my dear people that are jumping into conclusion haven't experienced anytin. somebody commented on yesterday's post on this case that her cousin is living with HIV NOW BECOS OF FALSE LAB RESULT FROM CHURCH MEDICAL INVESTIGATION. My advice 2 both men and women pls dont close your eyes becos of church doctrine go for a proper check b4 taking any step.

If your wedding is for 10am,you are to be in church 7am that morning for pregnancy test to be conducted.. After which you would then be certified ready for marriage. I know so cos my friends are redeemers and I attended there weddings

DeleteDon't seem to understand why a lot of people are judging the guy or the church rather than face the facts. For the guy to have promised to wait till their wedding night shows he must 've had a lot of respect for her and also trusted her. And the lady too must 've portrayed some high moral standards too. So they must have been devastated with the result of the test. Where I 've issues is why didn't they seek a second opinion and if they did and the initial test was confirmed then the guy was right or how will anyone expect him to trust such a woman. And besides whose child is she carrying and how long has she been involved with another man?

ReplyDeleteEvery church has her rules and regulations for weddings so one must abide by it. It's possible she was pregnant and had an abortion or hormonal imbalance ...they should have gone for a scan. That would have solved the hypothesis here.

ReplyDeleteNo be for RCCG wey Ali Baba and Mary marry years back (I am using them as a prime example). They had a child together and were most likely staying together before the wedding.
Unfortunately, a lot of Nigerians reason from their asses, including the doctor who allegedly said its either the lady is truly pregnant or had a recent abortion. I have observed/shadowed doctors here in the US at world-renowned hospitals...e.g JHH et al, and during my times there i discovered that there could be hundreds of reason a pregnancy and even drug test can come back with a "false-positive" result...for e.g, certain medications as simple as antibiotics, fever reducers, allergy meds, even multivitamins can bring about such results.
ReplyDeleteEven hormonal dis-equilibrum can make a pregnant woman's result come back negative and a non-pregnant woman's result come out positive. For all we know, this lady might have some health issues, or even be on certain meds.....if i may ask, was an ultrasound done on the lady before the church decided to announce her pregnant or before the poor-excuse of a man she was going to marry decided to shame her this way?
Also, on an ethical note, isn't it double standardish to conduct a pregnancy test on the woman as a determinant for her eligibility to get married at a certain church?....what test is conducted on the man to determine his eligibility? for all we know, he might even have had sex with other women during their courtship eventhough he claims not to have had sex with the bride....until the double standard clause is erased, a pregnancy test will never be the right measure for eligibility for any couple to get married at any church...
loads of churches have unknowingly married hundreds of couples who just had sex a night to their wedding either with their intending spouses or exes (bachelors and spinsters party ish, or even strangers)....all because they rely heavily on pregnancy tests to tell them who has been fornicating and who hasn't.
In fact a lot of pregnant brides have unknowingly been married by such churches because the pregnancy was probably too early to detect via a blood and urine test...trust me, even a blood test can come back with wrong results.
I strongly feel that their pictures would have been spared for the sake of the lady so that she could still marry someone else. Its not fair to let the whole world see her pic and since she's an orphan only God will vindicate her.

ReplyDeleteThis is not a joking matter, if the woman is not pregnant because that's one of the things that can give a positive pregnancy test and she's not taking fertility drugs containing HCG she probably has a malignancy. Apart from recent abort and recent birth that can give positive pregnancy test, diseases of the liver, cancers, and other medical conditions may produce elevated HCG thereby causing a false pregnancy test.

It could be possible that the man actually slept with her and got her pregnant but was not aware of the pregnancy. Abortion is a serious offence also in most churches, I guess he wanted to show that he played no part in it and that's why he cancelled the wedding- just my thought! Confirmed, the lady is not a virgin but that doesn't make the man a saint either. There's is no way the church can tell if he lied and has been sleeping with other ladies even while dating her but like I said earlier- just my thought!
