Sometimes autocorrect is a bastard esp on Samsung gadgets
DeleteAh Cocoz,tell me about it.
DeleteI'll finish typing something like this, after proof reading and hitting send, i'll then see embarrassing words and adjectives all over the place.
Seems my phone has taken a liking to doing that.
These days, I don't even bother to say it's autocorrect.
Unfortunately, I can't get rid of it.
Makes typing faster. :D

DeleteGood. I'm allergic to shorthand.
DeleteHow will u be asking which one is correct btw 'we was and we were'. Didn't u go to secondary school?
DeleteWe was is strictly ghetto English spoken by d black Americans, or have u ever heard Dat from a white American?
Am instead of I'm is the height... Almost every Nigerian is guilty of that, to the extent I start having a special kind of respect for the few that know when and how to use am and I'm. Smh!
DeleteAt my age; I stil hv problem of using BEEN or BEING

ReplyDeleteThe absolute worst for me has to be "it does not worth it' . Goodness! I keep trying to correct people till I start to believe I am wrong. The correct thing is 'it's not worth it'.
ReplyDeleteTautology. Figure it out.
DeleteEnglish time.
ReplyDeleteLol. Just passing by.
ReplyDeleteAbegggi
ReplyDeleteEnglish is not our mother's tongue.
How many people English don help??
Why don't you write in vernacular? The phrase is actually 'Mother tongue' and not 'Mother's tongue'.
DeleteIt has helped a lot of people. English is not your mother tongue abi? So why do u write in English? You might as well stop speaking English too.
DeleteHahahahahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteKikikikikikikikikikikikikikikiki

ReplyDeleteHehehe. I started getting tired of correcting 'am'. Well when Patrick Obiaghabon the 'hikus-pekus' master will be using it, na all these bvs wey sabi gbagun no go do am? One of the gists that came in was so difficult to comprehend that i just jumped the story.
ReplyDeleteLMAO! Good job Stells
ReplyDeleteIt's 'you' instead of u
ReplyDeleteIt's 'in Jesus name' instead of IJN. Why type a beautiful prayer and end with 'ijn'? If you can type all that, why not just type everything in full.
Nothing is wrong with 'U' biko... dia is a difference btw mkin every word short and poorly written English... Get dat...
DeleteLol, the most important is that you get what they mean.

Plenty people on this blog can't speak English . That's how I met one on S & M. He can't construct a simple sentence in good English. I just SMH for the guy. And he has plenty money, how will I introduce such a person to my friends, not to talk of family. Lord why can I not find a complete man, I am not asking for much. Am I ?
ReplyDeleteA complete man.......die and go to heaven, its obvious u are searching for Jesus
Delete*Why can i not find a complete man?*
DeleteU are worse than d man..HoeLodo!
Hahahahahahahahaha! Are you a complete lady?
DeleteThank you Stella! Good English is fast becoming extinct and people need to bring it back!!!
ReplyDeleteMany people need these tutorials,u can't even read some comments here without developing headache at the end of the day.Shorthand is different from these silly errors people make.'am' instead of 'I'm', 'their' instead of 'they are'.It's realy not funny!
ReplyDeleteU'r gud!
Delete*really
ReplyDeleteSometimes English helps in foreign English speaking countries at job interviews. If they don't understand what you are saying because of your bad written and spoken English, the person they understand with good spoken and written English will get the job @Caribbean Princess
ReplyDeleteIgnorance is a disease, take correction, learn and better yourself. You never know when you might need it.
Thank you Stella, thank you!
ReplyDeletebuhahahahaha.some people are too big to learn.i won't be shocked it you get a call out.
ReplyDeletena serious blackboard be this o.yes aunty.
*if*
DeletePeeps need to learn use of punctuation marks too.
ReplyDeleteStella thanks for the corrections.
ReplyDeleteNoted
ReplyDeleteStella thanks...
ReplyDeleteSo if I want to ask myself a question what do I say?
ReplyDeleteEnglish is not our first language. Many are still suffering from colonial mentality. Smshhhhh. It's a bloody blog and not an English exams. For yur information, UK prime minister email is worse.
ReplyDeleteanon 22:35 what language did you use to make your comment. Was it your native language?, why didn't you comment in your native language. If you are speaking or writing English, speak and write it well- simple. It's got nothing to do with holding everything about the whites in high esteem.
ReplyDeleteLets not forget the wrong usage of the word 'SEVERALLY'!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone on this blog uses the word wrongly, including Stella!
Severally means individually or separately.
Several means numerous times.
I always see people writing, "I called him/her severally". It irks my souls!!
Please, the correct wording is," I called him/ her several times".
Wow! Now this's an eye opener. I'm so guilty of using "severally" to quantify. Thanks for this little lesson; like they say you learn every day.
DeleteNigerians have so murdered the English language.
ReplyDeleteThe person saying English is not our native language, how would you feel if people repeatedly speak your native language incorrectly or mispronounce words in your native language. It would annoy you and you would correct them.
For example saying ashawo instead of ashewo, inegbese instead of gbese. Those words actually mean nothing in the language you are speaking.
If you must speak a language, speak it correctly.
Jollof rice not jelof rice
ReplyDeletemoin moin not mai mai
Boli not "Bole"
DeleteSMURF the correcter, the context in which anon 09:48 used the word speak is actually correct. Over sabi busy body.
