Nigerian History Lesson.

The very first officers of the Nigerian Army




 - Two future Nigerian heads of state are here and many of these men would later fight each other in the civil war. 


- Colonel Ojukwu who led the secession of Biafra is in the photo as well as 
Phillip Effiong who surrendered Biafra


- Many of the first and second row of officers were killed In a
 military coup in 1966.


Only 4 of these men are alive today

  4. They are still alive today causing commotion in the country. I wonder why they didnt join their colleague then to meet their ancestors. Lol. I guess their otumokpo too strong. I always love history and government classes although it can be boring sometimes.

  6. They really look like gallant and disciplined officers, not like the greedy corrupt rascals we have now.

    Nigeria is a shame to Africa and the black race. Standards have been falling continously since the era when a British man was the in charge of things (like in the picture above). Yes individual Nigerians are richer (big yimu), but the country is "poorer" than when the white man was in charge. Are we so incapable of taking care of ourselves?

  9. Addendum to anon 12:42,the last surviving person is adewale ademoyega.the author of why we struck and d only surviving person among d three that planned the first military coup.get a copy of the book and have first hand detail of Jan 15,1966 coup
