  1. Perfect questions. They shouldn't relocate. They can still stay in the house while they carry out the test.

    1. Thank you Freeze. Please add this question as no 6; What is the integrity of the people conducting the integrity test? Same of the same?

    2. What the governor has suggested is in order.

Now it is the duty of the building management to enforce their integrity tests however way they deem fit.

They can carry out the test in batch without necessarily inconveniencing or displacing their tenants/home owners.

They can do this in the day whilst they are at work. Or better still, inform them of a convenient day when the rounds can be made within a few hours. Hence, they might not have to sleep out. Worse case scenario, the lekki home management can arrange to accommodate them for a night in any hotel or guest house, or ask them to do so themselves and will reimburse.

It's not that difficult. After all they all find alternatives when they want to fumigate their house.(ask Mabel lol)
So Let's not compound their already difficult issues any further.. by using the media to aggravate things. Cos this post will only start to give occupants ideas and will start to make demands of the already aggrieved management.

Although I am not in support of their substandard style of accommodation, but this is enough lesson as lives have been lost unfortunately, so they know better...albeit in a hard way.

So oga Freeze the mouthpiece, chill. U no kukuma get house for there. Anything to sha trend..*rme*

  3. Freeze has raised very salient questions which point to the fact that the Governor's orders defy reality. I understand heads must roll for the indiscretions og Lekki Gardens, however relocating 600 families in a overcrowded Lagos is no small feat. Modalities should be spelt out on how the integrity test is going to work out as opposed to just dishing out impracticable orders.

  4. Freeze....u never seize to show how dumb you are.

Q1:it's left for lekki gardens to decide.....not the government, they committed the crime.

Q2:the governor is not as dull as you are....if they do the test with occupants in it,I'm sure the governor won't tell them to vacate the premises .
Q3:lekki garden should be a big organization, which means the should be able to operate in cases of emergency .

Q4:the government will let us know the duration when it's time .

Q5:the government never sealed the church for irregularities....but the lekki garden site was sealed by the government for construction to stop but they went against the directive which is a major crime.

    1. Ur ans to Q5 is wrong. The church was given approval for 2 storeys but the went ahead to add extra 3 floors (am not certain of the number of floors approval was given and how many extra floors they illegally added). But fact is the church exceeded the approved number of floors. Also ans Q4 is not logical... saying when the time comes the govt will us know... but the thing is, NOW is the time! not later. The occupants needs to know now si as to plan as their lives will be altered drastically - (they must hv chosen the specific Lekki Gardens location based on their workplace, kids sch etc)..so knowing the duration of the test NOW is very important and key.

    2. I'm sure they'll lose money with this issue. I imagine people would have withdrawn their monies from properties they wanted to buy. This will record a big loss in that company o. Nobody will enter into a bad investment. Chai

  7. I heard akpabio is d one behind lekki gardens and richard is a front for him and its impossible to link him directly. The APC and jagaban are trying to cripple the pdp and akpabio is a target being that hes a major financier and as such his businesses and close associates have been marked 2 be dealt with.
Now if the above is true then how are we sure that the building wasnt compromised by deliberate actions?

  8. I agree with Freeze. If Lekki gardens management has been compromising on their standard then there is a problem. But one thing we need to understand is that I dont think displacing 600 families at once is a good idea. They can keep them while doing their tests.
And one thing we have forgotten is that the collapsed building was still under construction and workers were residing there abi camping there which is not too good or a fresh construction. The collapsed building was still in ita delicate form and not fit to be harbouring people not to talk of the number that died. Hope Ambode has a backup plan and a good one. The MD will surely not do that while in prison and again, to where?

  9. Very well said!
The issues raised by Freeze very pertinent.

Its irritating how the govt tries to cover its incompetence meting out the 'scapegoat' treatment. Since the govt claimed the building was defective & it asked the management of Lekki Gardens to stop work, why didn't they take proactive steps to seal off the building & mark same for demolition? Or are they trying to say they didn't notice construction was still being carried out on the building? Its so unfortunate innocent people died as a result of the developer's negligence & govt's lazy approach to important issues.

Anyway, I totally support the integrity check as long as adequate provision will be made for the residents. Its going to be a bit difficult for them but... Hey! Life's too precious to lose over a little inconvenience.

I hope the govt does the same for other Real Estate firms.

  11. Fashola's government is different from ambodes government... T.B Joshua was lucky cos it happened in the last dispensation

    ReplyDelete
  12. The biggest problem impeding progress in Nigeria, is this mentality of "When it happened to A, this was done; Why is it different from when it happens to B?"

That the "wrong" thing was done when the TB Joshua incident happened, does not imply that the wrong thing must continue to happen. Since Freeze's parents were living in the village before, why is he now living in opulence? Shouldn't he imbibe the culture of doing the same old things and go live in the village?

Developments only come by seeing the wrongs and correcting them, not by saying one wrong has not been punished. If his sister is involved in domestic violence, would he agree that the case should be dealt with like that of Dino Melaye?, would eh not cry foul?

  15. Ambode is just been insensitive. He should put himself in their shoes and judge.

He's only acting this way because of Akpabio's link to lekki gardens(I know Akpabio owns lekki gardens, no be SR let me know).

    1. LaFresh you're too intelligent to talk like this now? Has Ambode said he will confiscate the rest buildings? He just wants to do what is ordinarily reasonable. Since all the buildings there were built by the same company, it is very probable that the same negligence must have been done before now, and they think they can always do more! When it comes to things like this, let's not be quick to think it's a political vendetta. Its just to tell you Nigerians can do anything to get money. What if after a year more buildings collapse and more lives are lost? Then the question on the mouth of everyone will now be : why didn't they check if other buildings were badly built too?

      Think my dear think...

  18. Answer number 1. They should be located to a place he can foot the bills if indeed they have to be located

Answer number 2. If it's possible for the integrity test to be done while occupants stay in it, I don't think they would have been asked to be relocated but if it is possible please let them stay in their house for the test to be carried out

Answer number 3. His lawyer can take the cheque books to him in prison and he signs. That's not a big deal. He doesn't have to be in the bank for transfers or withdrawals to be made.

Answer number 4. I don't know how long this takes but the engineers would know best

  23. These are serious questions that are been raised by OAP freeze,
Also integrity tests can be carried out with residents still residing in the building, the Gov should have carried out proper findings before asking lekki residents to move out unjustly.

Plus we lekki residents arent push around lagosians, we are rich and well connected people, so if Governor Ambode is going to do a show a power he better be careful before he throws his new office into more troubles than he can handle

There are houses in Ikorodu, they can stay there for free for 6 months

  26. I think conducting those tests is a wise decision. If what I hear from friends in the industry is anything to go by, Lekki Gardens buildings have been regarded with suspicion for a while. The govt is doing the right thing here.

As to the question of where they r to be moved to and how payment is to be made, those r mere logistical issues.

Comparing residential buildings to Church buildings is like comparing apples and oranges. One is occupied periodically and the other is lived in, possibly all day, everyday. How is the handling of that an excuse for how this is to be handled?

Same stupid argument made by people saying we shouldn't probe Jonathan cos other administrations were corrupt before his.

  35. I'm so appalled with the way Nigerians think. My God!!!! Firstly, which is more important? To die or to live as at worst an internally displaced person for a freaking while???? Ild be damned!!!!
To you freeze, enough of your stupid questions online. If you had black head on your yellow shoulders, you would be able to think right! Is Ambode to provide accommodation for the occupants? If they made them know they were seated on a keg of gun power waiting to explode, wouldn't they find their way out in a millisecond? You're here yarning balderdash!
I'm pretty sure if this same actions are not carries out and another building collapses, you would be the first to bring your yellow fingers to the keypad hopefully black and yarn dust. Oh well. When a black man has yellow as the colour of his thinking. Yimu mehn!
Lenin Gardens occupants, sit down in your houses ehn and don't move out asap until the house move under your weights. I'm sorry for you all. I wonder what good comes easy out of life!!!

  36. Stop that shallow thoughts. They should put up with frds n families or hotels, besides the lekki homes would provide an alternative accommodation.
