Lagos Police to Charge Lekan Shonde for Murder

Mr. Lekan Shonde, the husband of Late Mrs. Ronke Shonde, who he allegedly murdered in a case of domestic squabble, will today be charged to court for murder.

This is coming a day after the autopsy report conducted by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) declared that the deceased died of respiratory seizure and bruises on the head.
Confirming this at exactly 8.09pm, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, said the suspect has a case to answer.

In a terse text message sent to THISDAY she said, “The autopsy has revealed that Mr Lekan Shonde, the alleged killer of his wife has case to answer. Therefore he will be charged to court tomorrow (Friday) to answer a charge of murder.”

The suspect would today be charged to Ebute Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos, to answer for the role he allegedly played in his wife’s death.

    1. I find it very hard to understand the mindset of Nigerians (Most). Few hours ago, they were all crying and screaming of how the doctors were bribed at autopsy.
Now comments are applauding the same autopsy. I think the problem has to do with inability to read and understand. It only an intellectually blind person that will read the few details of that autopsy and feel it cleared the husband. I am shocked that even "Lawyers" on this blog couldn't even reason above the normal market standard of reasoning. Medical reports is not meant for everyone to understand. Now, the comments have changed without the autopsy result changing, so what happened? It means the problem is with ur understanding.

    2. Yes Bitch plis,i think Sisi said something about that the other day.

We are not against men,we want killers to be brought to book... If 9men and 2women commit murder, you and I know we won't add 7 more innocent women to the figure just to "appease" the men folk.

We just want people that think they can take other people's lives to be punished, male or female.

      Justice must be served.

  3. Taking another person's is very wrong. And everyone should pay for his/her crime. But
The wife herself was also wrong by sleeping with another man .and telling her horseband he cannot do anything. Dat will push most men over d edge.

    1. James ure right!!!!! I'd also kill that woman!!!!!! Yes, such a woman will die in my hand, but i'd settle things with her peacefully and make sure friends and neighbours know we're ok, then wen she thinks she's safe i'd give her potassium chroride, slow sleepy death, and can't be traced in an autopsy!!!!
Imagine a woman i married, the mother of my children, bragging that another man fucked her & her pussy is sore, yet she denies me her husband sex. SHE'S DEAD!!!!!!!!

    1. It's going to be a hard one for the prosecution. They'll have to prove beyond reasonable doubt, and then if it was premeditated to get a conviction. With a good defence team I think Mr. Shonde is going to walk away a free man ( for those who don't what to be discharged and acquitted means). Too many semi illiterates on this blog. The state charging him for murder doesn't mean he's guilty. It still has to be proven in a court of law.

Anyway both of them have mental disabilities because no woman in her right mind will stay with such an excuse of a man. All these men that are actually women with men's privates. God help Naija women!

  10. Good.
Nigeria is changing, gradually women beaters will be going to jail, lose jobs, social status. Nice development.

  11. Nigerians that cannot even understand a simple autopsy report and kept ranting here. Have you heard?
Do you expect autopsy report to read :Mr shonde slapped Ronke 20 times and then used rope to stangle her and when she refused to die, he blocked her nose and kept hitting her on the head.
In Many cases, Autopsy leaves mor questions than answers.
If for instance, the woman had a very serious silent illness that wasn't even known to anyone before she died, the doctors should not include it because you want them to just go straight and say he killed her.
For you myopic illiterates, This autopsy incriminated the husband, it is left for the lawyers to do their own part of the job.
Even if the Autopsy said the woman died from a blow to the head, or strangulation, the Lawyers will still have to prove that it was Mr Shonde that did it and not an intruder.
If three people had accidents their cause of deaths might be different. One might be cardiac failure, another might be respiratory failure while the other might be stroke! When you put other circumstantial and physical evidence together, you can now eliminate other causes of stroke, cardiac failure or respiratory failure and then link it directly to the accident.
All her Lawyers need to do is to prove that she was not a known seisure patient ie she has never had seisure before. Even if they find intoxicating substance in her blood, they can still prove that her husband forced it on her to ingest since he bought her food after learning she cheated. Then it is so easy to bring up the issue of blow to the head and the bruises in the head.
So what's the fuss about the autopsy exonerating him. I am sure the police is not stupid to reveal all the details of the autopsy cos that's what they will use and build their case. There are information they call classified info. This report might even be a means to throw the Shonde defence off track and then deal them a fatal blow with the confidential information.

Strangulation marks on the neck would have been so obvious for anyone to ignore. Pleaseeeeeee. Even when they take her for burial, the family can still snap it so no doctor will want that kind of incriminating fact.
Autopsy reports are never always straight forward. Sometimes, laymen cannot even understand it.
Expert witnesses (doctors) will also be in court to defend the autopsy.

    1. Don't mind them, using the info that she cheated to justify murder. Did he not cheat also, even worse he has a baby mama. He cheats, she cheated equation balanced. He murdered her, he will be executed, equation balanced.

Lesson to cheating husbands, do not dish out what you cannot take, for the day will come your wife will also behave like you. It is nature-bad company corrupts good morals (or something like that)

  15. I will implore you all to go online and have a look at samples of autopsy reports, they are NOT always straight to the point. They give you clues and not a one way traffic.
There are physical, circumstancial and forensic evidence that help to build a case.
This autopsy of Ronke Shonde has even given the police and prosecuting lawyers an edge. If the cause of her death is respiratory failure caused by seisure, you cannot throw away other causes of seisures but in this case you try to rule out other causes and prove that it was the blow to the head that caused it. And that blow was from her husband and not her neighbour or herself. Please, let us reason intelligently. You have to prove beyond reasonable doubt.
In some cases, you might even find more than one possible cause. That makes the case more difficult because for each medical cause of death, you have almost 20things that can cause it, so the burden is to rule out others and prove it was his handwork .
Here, they have only a few things to rule out and I am sure the police charging him to court immediately means they know they have a solid case.
Prosecutors don't go to court when they don't have anything.
Stop all these rantings that is suggestive of poverty of understanding. I wonder what Nigerians gain by always forming Victimisation.

    1. The only literate on this blog I hail you.

Nigeria has failed it's people so we do not trust or have faith in the system.

Our legal system is laughable, the educational system is a joke whilst the health sector needs a total overhaul.

You and I know anything goes in this country once money changes hands. The life of a dog in the UK is even more sacred than that of a Nigerian.

My issue with that autopsy report is that it has given the defence team a ground for defence since it states cause of death could be A,B or C. The report is neither here nor there. A porous autopsy report that will be challenged by the Defence counsel.

Anyway, permit us to continue to rant and react like illiterates on this issue, it is a sensitive 1 and we want justice to be served.

      Delete
    2. Whirlwind, most autopsy results are like that. If the autopsy said the woman died by strangulation, does that mean that only MR Shonde sabi starangulate?
What if the defence proves the woman had the marks before she died? And with photos too
The doctors reported what they saw, you can't force them otherwise. Let the "crime scene analyst" and the prosecutors build this case and use the autopsy to buttress their case.
Yesterday, you saw a post about the Nigerian doctor that just returned from Russia and waka passed. Tomorrow you will come online and call him quack.
Nigeria has very good doctors as well as Lawyers.
I don't know what your profession is but I am sure you have made any educational footprint except on blogs.
Keep ranting darl, and have a look at autopsy result samples then search for the possible cause and then tell me how straight forward it is.

    3. Anon 8:32, why are you ranting about? Why are you trying to look for a way out for a murderer.Sorry to burst your bubble, autopsy is not the only way to conclude a murder case, if it cannot be established that the man actually strangled her (which he did), there are witnesses. Yes, there are people who saw DV in their home, their children also witnessed their father's callousness...

He committed murder, due to this the late Mrs Shonde'so mother has also died of heart break. Pls do not come here again and rant. I am tired if not I would have scolded you more.

    5. I hope you are not a doctor with this blazing temperament of yours. You call people illiterates and abuse them but sadly, you are mentally deficient.

In your myopic mind, you think everyone who comments on a blog is uneducated because their opinion is different from yours? Deluded human being.

I concede to the fact that there are good doctors in Nigeria but you know that there are a lot of mediocres as well.

The fact in issue is that report is ambiguous and watery.

Common, I have read autopsy reports and this one is vague and subject to different interpretation.

I am done with you as far this issue is concerned.

Women aint taking shit any more so men should deal with it and if they think killing their wives is the solution then they will spend a long time in prison with plenty of time to think about their actions.
