STAND ALONE NARRATIVE
Individual Name Customization of Tithe Envelope in Redeem Church
Good day Stella.
Hubby and I just joined redeem church in my area this year. We stopped going to winners chapel Canaanland because of distance. We have no problem with the church services. Am not working yet, only my hubby pays tithe so i did not notice anything. But what i observed was that any day he paid his tithe, he was always moody throughout that day. I summoned courage to ask him one day and what he told me was unbelievable. He said the first time he wanted to pay tithe as per the way it is being done in our former church, he asked for an envelope.
To his surprise he was given a brown customized envelope with a space to write his full name and boxes to thick each month after paying his tithe. He felt uncomfortable at first but overlooked it, put his tithe in the envelope and dropped it inside the tithe basket.
After the service, he went to meet the lady in charge of the tithe because she once introduced herself, and to his surprise, he saw her bringing out the tithe from the customized envelop one by one and registering it in a book with the amount beside each name and estimating the monthly income. He said he was furious and asked why she was doing that.
She said that is how they do in the church. It helps them know how much each member is paying as tithe and to call to order when individual tithe is not regular. My hubby said he politely told her that they are intruding into his privacy as such doing and meddling into his business with God.
He said there is no biblical justification for what they are doing. The next month he wanted to pay tithe, he said he did not collect the brown envelop but instead picked the normal white offering envelop and wrote tithe in one corner and dropped it in the offering basket( not the tithe basket), and to his surprise, after the service, the lady in charge of the tithe record came to meet him that " sir have you paid your tithe?" and hubby replied her that he has paid. And she replied OK....your tithe was found in the offering basket.
I knew it was yours because after i checked my record, i noticed i haven't ticked the box for your tithe this month and while checking the offering basket i saw a tithe envelop there, i checked and i knew it was yours because you paid so and so amount last month. When hubby got home, he told me he wanted to flare up and told them loudly that they are intruding into his privacy.....taking record of his finances and he doesn't appreciate that.
Now he told me that he will ask for biblical reference to the manner tithe is being collected in that church and if it can't be proved he will start taking his tithe to another church but still worship with them. If there is an objection to worshiping with them, but paying his tithe elsewhere....then he would outrightly stopped going to that church.
My questions are:
1) Is this applicable to all redeem church
2) Was my hubby right to have objected to the way tithe is being collected.
3) Is it possible to worship in a church and pay tithe elsewhere, since it is a business btw him and God and he still honors it.
Stella please this is urgent as my hubby wants to take his decision and i don't even know what to tell him. A lot of people are confused in their christian work because of various doctrines that are not biblical. He introduced me to your blog many years ago and i know he will read this.
Thank you.
Churches has turn to business houses.
ReplyDeleteDear fabmum,
DeleteSo,u mean I'm the anon.who called u out on the SP this morning?
Shame to u madam,a very big shame to u.
U even went as far as calling me a calabar goat mmmmm. My dad is a white MAN.So u see, shame to u once more!
Be careful in judging. Poster please tell us the name of the parish so people don't slander Redeem if you're sure this is what operates in that parish
DeleteYour problem is you lack comprehension. Don't be a dumb blog highness Gwen. Read and understand a post before you comment. Your father is a white man so what?? Does that add any value to me??
DeleteYou mentioned my name saying someone called me out above and I asked you not to be a message deliverer. I can read. If some calls me out don't remind me. I saw it.
Saying I called you calabar goat just tells so much of your intelligence. That comment was made in anon. I called you out with my ID. Or you think I'll go anon for you?? Really??
Girl bye 👋
As a corper, I paymy tithe to my church back in school. They need it for church project.
ReplyDeleteEven in winners u collect tithe booklet, in which u fill ur info and drop along with the tithe
DeleteExactly Treasures, I'm a winner, we have Tithe booklets.
DeleteTithe is between you and God. Just pay the Tithe and whatever they are doing is not your business.
But on the other hand, they shouldn't come and be asking if you've paid your Tithe or not na
@treasures Please can I ask you a question which of the Winners? Is it the same Living faith A.K.A Winners Chapel.... Na wa oh if you don't know what you are saying then keep quiet.... There is nothing like tithe booklet in winners no one cares if you drop your tithe or not it's between you and God you package your tithe, worship seed, offering etc in an envelope and label it appropriately and put it in the basket during offering.... So please be sure of whatever you type and stop spreading lies...
Deleteyour hubby can just put his money and not fill it. we have same envelopes here. its for gift aid purposes nut it is entirely up to you
ReplyDeleteHian, am in shock. This is so wrong. Anon if he puts it in like that, that lady will still accost him and ask about it. Tithe should be and is a personal decision with one and god. How are they even sure people are being truthful. So a business person that didn't make enough and cannot be consistent with a particular amount, should the person or lie just to keep up appearances?
DeleteThey are intruding on peoples' finances. Pls allow your husband take whatever action he feels like, its his right. They should encourage paying tithes, but counting your money with you. Shame de catch me for that parish abeg. Can you imagine coming to meet the man to ask for his tithe. That is his business with god pls. Na WA o
Na wah oh!...
ReplyDeleteChurch business...
We don't do like this in my church....
Oriegwu oh!...
I'm begging to believe freeze about all these yahoo yahoo pastors...
Biko shut up ur dirty mouth and stop this foolish thinking of urs
DeleteDon't mind mugus let them continue to enrich yahoo yahoo boys .
DeleteMadam. Yes, that's how all R.C.C.G parishes do.....
ReplyDeleteAssemblies of God do so too. If u do not pay ur tithe, u are on your own if anything happens to you, it is assumed that u are a visitor not a member
DeleteNo that is not how all RCCCG churches do,get your facts right,I grew up in an rccg church and I have never filled my name beside my tithe..the heads in that church should check themselves.
DeleteNot all. Speak for your church. It's not even a most to take your tithes to church. You can pray over it and use it for missionary work like giving it to the motherless, widows or widowers, reaching out to those in prison, helping people around you that needs it. Some people don't go to church and they are sincere with there tithing. Use it to reach out to the needy
DeleteSpeak for your parish. It's not done like that in mine.
DeleteThey do this in my parents church and I hate it with passion.
Taa! Anon 15:06 stop that silly lie. I have worshipped with Redeem church for many years and even worked with their media dept Dove and this is the first time am hearing such fuckery, infact my mouth was open the entire time I read this post. What they are doing is all shades of wrong as far as am concerned and it is not biblical - I stand to be corrected. This is pure invasion of privacy and nothing else. They have no business with recording and calculating ones tithe and trying to second guess the salary to know if it adds up. Tithe paying is between the tither and God wetin be their own?
DeleteThis issue just came up few weeks ago when I was talking to a pastor's family from Foursquare Gospel Church And I was thinking the same thing couldn't believe it. A brother in the church became very sick and went to the church. I am very critical of pastors and these are pastors that I respect for them to do it I was very shocked. Anyway back to the story
DeleteHe got sick and asked the church for help, in the process of them helping him they checked first to see if he pays his tithe and confirm he does regularly with the little money he makes before they helped him with some of his medical bills. Me being very straightforward asked the leaders of the church because I just happened to be there during the discussion "what happens if he doesn't pay his tithe, you would help him" the respond I got is yes they will help but they are not obliged to and they will just do what they can or not do much it depends on the person... once again I was super shocked... Mehn Church politics/business... I still have that at the back of my mind
Lie
DeleteThank you, YHWH, for the grace of knowing your truth. The truth of your Word about tithing, for delivering me and my family from the shackles of the devil that is blinding and using human for their own belly...
DeleteIf only they would accept the truth of your gospel, the grace that you have given us through your son, Jesus...instead they continue to bind themselves with shackles of human commandments 'in your Name' subjecting themselves to they who Lord is their belly
I am.so Grateful, Lord! So grateful
I attend Redeemed and this isn't done at my parish and I also think the GO isn't aware of this. It is not biblical either and must be the decision of that parish pastor.
ReplyDeletePlease your husband should stop paying his tithe in that manner. At first I even thought they were doing that to pray individually for them using their names but that thing they are doing is illegal and none of their business.
You people should change parish biko. It's these few ones that spoil the hardwork of other good people.
How can you run a church like a personal business.
And yes I used to attend a church with my parents but never paid my tithe there because I didn't like the general overseer of the church but it's not right to pay tithe in another church and worship in a different place. Now I go to the church of my choice and pay my tithe there without anyone collating my data.
I use plain envelopes with no name.
Yimu who says it's not right to pay tithe in another Church
DeleteYimu back at you Finest, how can you leave in this house and decide to take care of another house belonging to someone else? Like you'll leave your own kids and start training your neighbours kids...? Ok ooo
DeleteIt is her personal opinion
DeleteNo. it is not right to pay tithe to another church when you're being "spiritually fed" in one.
DeleteYou pay your tithe in the church where you go regularly. Give "gifts" to pastors that pray for you and invest in your life. But tithes must be paid in the place where you get regular spiritual sustenance.
Pls na which rccg parish u dey go?
DeleteThis is d norm in all redeem churches o and yes daddy g.o is aware!
I use to be a member as far back as 2010 n that was 7yrs ago and dem dey do am then talkless now!
I think it's just an unwritten rule.
DeleteI pay my Tithe where I'm blessed spiritually.
To be honest, I don't know if it's a sin paying it somewhere else though.
Just follow your heart.
Well said! How dare they intrude. Christainity is a personal race and no one is supposed time monitor it coerce another. Please if they choose to continue hitherto, please change your parish.
DeleteWhy is it so difficult to find genuine men to fall in love with these days?
ReplyDeleteFrench if you are genuine, you will find a genuine man because like terms attract..
Delete@Anonymous,if you're genuine, drop your contact
DeleteChurch wahala.
DeleteMake I follow you wow!
ReplyDeleteIn my church we have a special envelope for tithing. But u don't have to write name or for them to collate data from u. Well every church with their own mode of tithing.
Deletehe should slipt the tithe into 2 or 3 times and pay different weekends in a month.
ReplyDeleteJust be erratic and mess with their calculator.
Loolzz y evils
Delete😁😁😁😁😁😁
DeletePoster my parish does that too.
DeleteThe reason is to know when a member is not paying his/her tithe at all or the way it's supposed to be,so they can call such member and know what is his or her problem then pray and council such member. It's not for any other purpose but to show concern
My church has an envelope that contains a card for anyone who asks and you fill and submit.
DeleteIt is returned to you at the next service with a receipt which is already duplicated in the church books, it is strictly for accountability and for auditors.
You can decide if you don't want the envelopes and pay your tithe anonymously.
A certain percentage of a church's tithe goes to the district level and then like that till it gets to the very top.
Nobody asks you if you stop paying it, nobody asks if its less or more.
It is strictly for accountability.
The reason the woman gave your hubby is WRONG, and monitoring him is VERY WRONG too.
They do in my parish and I hate it! Hate it! On one of the service days , I didn't have offering and an usher walked up
DeleteTo me and said oh sister joy won't you give offering? It's the beginning of the month oo chai ! I was so embarrassed , as if it was her I was giving the offering.
Then my pastor announces how bad and sinful it's not to pay tithes and makes it a duty to pray for the defaulters each time he prays for the tithers every Sunday morning . Sigh
Am changing churches mbok.
Lol, Anon, you're not serz
Deletehahahahahaha all athietst and all non church goers will full here viam.
ReplyDeleteMadam in my church, we have tithe envelopes we give to people who wants to pay their tithes and by the end of the day, the pastor who handles it, calculate all tithes recorded on that day. We dont mark register or what because your tithe is between you and God. If you give correct tithe or if you dont give correct tithe you get your from God. It is God that rewards. All my Bishop does is to pray for you and ask God to bless you plenty plenty because you kept to the commandment.
what the church is doing is keeping tab on tithe payers and praying God for more blessings but if your horseband finds it hard, he should leave Redeem and go to another church. you left winners but they have cells everywhere and they have buses that take you to Ota every sunday na.
Make una leave Redeem and go to another church where he will be happy and not worry about what they do with his tithe
Why are you using horseband for someone's husband
DeleteThis tithe issue is becoming serious I am here complaining that 50% of every tithe in my church goes to bishop and for what exactly even my priest is worried cos the tithe is not enough for the church upkeep anymore And some other church is busy calculating someone's salary.
ReplyDeleteChurch matter taya me. They record our tithe too in Methodist church intact you have a card.
DeleteZombie race. Zombie continent. You're giving out your hard-earned money unhappily and still doing the same thing! What exactly is wrong with the blackman? Servicing the philandering lifestyle of a man that has prick like you! Any man/woman that pays thithe should NEVER use the word "mugu" on another person. Religion has gradually become more criminal than advance fee fraud. These so-called penticostal homes don't even pretend to hide theirs. Thiefs.
DeleteThieves.
DeleteYou took the words right outta ma mouth.
DeleteAnd you have to bring it on a non Christian forum for the world to mock the church.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you ask your hubby to go and meet his pastor personally to discuss with him.
I hope you enjoy every attack and mockery that will come to the body of Christ when they mock Him here.
THANK YOU TZION!
DeletePlease get out of here u sanctimonious piece of thrash. Stop deceiving people. How can u see black and still call it white! Haba! Is Christianity now equal to dumbness?
DeletePoster clearly the yahoo pastor is running a business there. Change church immediately.
Non christian forum ke? Judgemental fool!
DeleteSee vexation...she is right this is not a christian forum. The hubby or wifey sef should've talked to the pastor about this or any of their church counsellors
DeleteYou're right at Triumphant Zion.
DeleteWill you keep quiet, it's your type that has become fools for their pastors.what is wrong in her bringing it here for others to have an input in it? Sanctimonious fOol
DeleteAnd what exactly are you CHRISTIAN doing on a NON CHRISTIAN forum?!!! This is ridiculous!
DeleteThe millions that Christians steal that this blog reports is that an insult to the body of Christ?? Apostle what's his name that has been disgraced is that also an insult to the body of Christ because it was mentioned here?? Where is the common sense in this statement?? When something is wrong it should be covered up because it is an insult to the body of Christ?!! I think not.
If this blog is too 'non Christian' for you you know what to do.
That's why people steal and steal in this country to impress man made laws! Somebody must be marking register for me when I pay tithes. There is no rubbish one will not hear in the name of Church.
DeleteYou are very correct Triumphant Zion. The muslims will never bring disrepute to their religion. You won't hear them tell you how Saudi sends them money to propagate Islam and torment the infidels (Christian inclusive), you won't hear them talk about their imam who has many underage wives in purdah, and you won't hear them criticise the fact that polygamy breeds disfunctional children who thrive in diabolical things. Continue complaining about church. Poster who told you that Winners don't put name on envelopes? Ha!
DeleteNo be small, ok what will the advise of the people do? You pay your tithe grudgingly. U should go and sort it out with your pastors. No Muslim, eckankar, grail message, amock etc will bring their issues here. Christians are the ones with loud mouth. For those insulting, if you don't or can't pay tithe keep quiet, I pay my tithe and my husband pays his too. What they do with it is none of my business, but we also have tithe booklets. For record keeping. In the house of God there should be orderliness.
Deletethat reedem church is so wrong. very wrong. and btw we can pay tithe in different ways. it most not necessarily be in church. I think its written somewhere in the bible where Jesus said i was hungry you did not feed me, i was naked you did not clothe me or something like that. I'm sorry but i can't quote it perfectly. but my understanding is when we help others around us we do what God wants. As for me i pay my tithe in the way my mind directs. sometimes i pay to the church, others times i give the money out to people i know who need it. depends on what my mind tells me to do. either way, my tithe is being paid. your tithe should come from your heart so God will accept it not given grumbily cos you were forced to or your church is doing what the posters husbands church is doing. God will never accept tithes that does not come from the heart. It will be like cain's offering to him
ReplyDeleteI do same too. Is not every time i pay tithe to church
DeleteI don't even pay tithe. I attend Anglican and I only paid it once. Was force by my aunt though. I prefer giving it out to those in need and God has been blessing me.It comes from the heart. You can give it to those in need or give it out to orphanage. Do what ur heart tells u.Don't do follow follow
DeleteYou couldn't have said it better!! People be making a show of what is strictly between you and God.
DeleteThis tithe issue is becoming weird daily!
ReplyDeleteThe house of God has now turned into a business place, smh
ReplyDeleteDear poster, no it is not applicable in all Redeem Churches.
ReplyDeleteYour hubby should prayerfully decide where to take his thites if and when he is convinced. It is not wrong and it is not a sin.
Once before I joined redeemed, I was led to give a missionary my thite. I was very sure it was the Lord leading me. The expression on his face was priceless to this day I will never forget that. So please pray and don't be offended.
People are doing all manner of things that should not offend you it should only push you further to know God and be led by Him.
For as many as are led by the Spirit they are the son's of God. Its found in the Book of Romans. Cheers.
And please you are not accountable to man but to God first and foremost.
1st world problem! Please pay to me, sow into my life, let people see the physical manifestation of the work, so when I evangelize, they will believe! Father, bestow ontop this poster and her spouse, the spirit of Wisdom! That's is all you need poster! Take time out, don't pray for anything else, but just ask for wisdom. If your spouse lacks it, you will not be found wanting in wisdom...selah
ReplyDeleteMadam first of all.. I don't think you need to be working for you to be able to pay your tithe! You can bring out money from your hair money or pocket money to be paying your tithes!
ReplyDeleteThat being said... I don't understand the need for that thing that church is doing. I mean your tithe is supposed to be between you and your God, not for the church to be calculating for you. As if it's monthly contribution you are doing? Hian
Your husband is very right by objecting, I would object too if I ever encounter such! What nonsense
Also he can choose to be paying his tithes elsewhere if he wants to! God will not come down from heaven and flog him for doing so..
Giving to people in need is better than giving to ur pastor to buy g wagon for their side chicks
DeleteYou must be a brain washed fool. Someone not earning income should be paying tithe. In which bible did you read that? After her hubby pays and from the remaining give her money, she will still take from it and give to people like you and be living in poverty.
DeleteHmmm serious!!! Where is it written in the Bible? Ndi asalu isi. Tueh
DeleteBoth of your Anons do know you are stupid right? Just wanted to remind you both how utterly dumb you are in case you've forgotten!
DeleteFuck off twerps! Tueeehh
10% of your income. What are you up to?
Delete#One day this world will tap you on the shoulder and whisper: 'it's your time to shine'.....keep going, your time will come*
ReplyDeleteI can hear the tap on my shoulders already 😁....taaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
DeleteAmen
DeleteAbout it being right, I don't know but what I do know is, they take that tithe card seriously! My friend has been trying to fix her wedding date since forever but she hasn't been paying tithe, hence no tithe card. That is what has been holding her wedding date. Everybody has a record of how much they pay, she told me this
ReplyDeletePastors holding people in bondage. Your friend should go to registery and do wedding and hire better hall for reception. Wedding in church does not immune you from marriage wahala. Go to church and serve God as your heart directs you not as pastors wants. People be wise.
DeleteWhat in the world is a tithe card? What kind kpa kpa kpa Christianity is this? So the church is now punishing people for not paying tithes? Is this not blackmail? Jesus himself did not punish Judas for stealing from the church. Nigerian churches eh. Thankfully God treats all of us with more mercy than we grant to each other.
DeleteThe church is doing the wrong thing. My tithe is between myself and God. But it is not wise to worship in one church and pay your tithe to another. If you are not comfortable with their doctrine, kindly change your church. I personally will never write my name on a tithe envelope. If they want my name, they should ask Google😛
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteTithe is to be paid where u worship. Weti i kn self . Over to the pastors in this house . Pastors daugther answer this question abeg
ReplyDeleteRedeem is my church, I love E. Adeboye but I hate the customised envelope, when I first noticed it, I was like, what's the meaning of this?. I've not used it and I don't intend using it, I buy envelope to put my tithe.
ReplyDeleteIts not all redeem sha. The few i worshiped with while in Nigeria never did that. In fact im still looking for a redeem here in the states that will have close resemblance to my former one in terms of praises, prayer and worship.been to few but my heart never found whats it is looking for.
DeleteIt's not a must that the customized envelope be used like Becky rightly said. Your husband can still attend the church but pay his tithe differently in a plain envelope . I don't see the need paying it somewhere else. I'll rather you both change church if that be the case.
DeleteIt is so so so so so so so so so wrong. I feel like sosoing for an hour. Aha!. He better find abkrher church to worship with.
ReplyDeleteThe Bible says let your right hand not know what your left hand is giving.
ReplyDeleteYes, you can worship God in one church and pay your tithe in another. It could even be the church in your village.
That church has no right to know who is paying what. They should leave it for God.
Infact, I\m so upset at that church.
Na wa oh..
ReplyDeletePlease oooo, you should have mentioned the name of your parish,I go to redeem and there's nothing like this!
ReplyDeletePls let me laugh pls
ReplyDeleteNo vex but I know why I'm laughing
Paying tithes are not by force!...
ReplyDeleteEven offerings too!.,.
God does not force anyone to pay tithe but the tithe he says belongs to him!
DeletePaying tithes are not by force, like seriously? Is it by force to speak English. We know you are an illiterate but must you throw it on us always? Fuck! I can't deal
DeleteLols, this is what an s happening in my church o,my husband has stop paying tithe, when I beg him to be paying since paying to God not man,he goes with his own envelope. My church is an Anglican church. I don't understand o,my former church was winners too.
ReplyDeleteHia, anglican church dont start too. My mum religiously pay my tithe there in the village even though i have not set foot there in ages. All she does in our diocese is waka go office after church and they will bring one big register and register the money. And mark the tithe card you brought. Each person has a tithe card but theirs is not for the purpose of keeping tab on your income.
DeleteDocumentation is important in a church not necessarily to invade your privacy but for (accountability) church record keeping. The church we attend gave us a pack of numbered enevelopes, that we use for offering and tithe. We just did our taxes, and the church sent us our tax return as part of filling our taxes. There is nothing wrong with documentation.
ReplyDeleteTax ke? So did you recieve tax returns from your tithes?
DeleteI guess he is us of a. When i saw in one branch that you even have to write your name, amount and address in offering envelope, i disnt find it funny. I didnt write and was looking at them with one kind eye.
DeleteDid you say accountability? The first step towards accountability is your church giving account of every penny realised- tithe, seeds, offering and other dubious ways they employ to extort you people. You should be able to know what your money is being used for. It is called "common sense". It isn't common after all.
DeleteYes, all western countries, the church can claim the money from revenue. So they need your name, and social security number
DeleteHahahahahahahahahahaha!!! Lol! Looooool! Lwkmdooooo!! Ye, laff wan kii me! Lool! Church business is good business! Sheeple. Y'all will be alright, one by one the scales will fall off your eyes and you'll see & know what the will of God is. Lol! Oh I'm in stitches! Make my pizza no komot for my nose o!! Looool!!!
ReplyDeleteSuffer suffer for world, enjoy for heaven! Bishop, imam, Pastor and co de enjoy on earth right here.
ReplyDeleteMust people post everything on social media?
ReplyDeleteI attend the National Headquarters of The Redeemed Christian Church of GOD. The tithes are dropped in general envelopes. This is the laid down procedure and I don't think this practice you experienced is right
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this before and I attend RCCG. *shocked much.
ReplyDeleteThe pastor in that parish should be called to order.
What are people turning Christianity to?
To me this is not an issue, if u don't like their pattern of collecting tithe, change church. Redeemed is not the only church u can serve ur God. Or buy envelope when coming from home put it and seal it and drop it in the box. Nobody will stop u from doing that
ReplyDeleteTo me I think it's wrong
ReplyDeleteBut on the other side, they are doing it for Account record
Imagine even in church no trust
This month and still the next 3 month I have decided to give a relative my tithes because he Is really in need
Infact I don give ham self
Today self
He didn't know that's what I did, we just prayed and I added it over
So Madam, if you're husband decide to give to the needy or an orphan will they come n beat him?
Truly they are invading his privacy
Make una go read malachi 3:10 also note that you DON'T give your tithes to any orphanage homes, you can give them other offerings but not tithe.
DeleteAnon carry this ur malachi go sleep. Read deutronomy 14. Infact after reading that i stopped paying thithes!
DeleteMadam/oga anno
DeleteIs my money
If my spirit says I should give to someone that needs it why shouldn't i?
For years i'av been paying tithes, d same church that some people will need help they tell u to follow procedures wey pass getting admission
I have a friend that gives her tithes to beggars and she is successful in er business
The day she gave 5k to a beggar, a lady tap her n told her that she hope the beggar didn't jazz her, that the money she just gave d guy is too much
So my dear
Don't involve into people's giving because u don't know why they do so
Anon 15:31 you are so wrong. The bible says tithes can be paid in several ways, to the needy ,poor, homeless name it. We just read one part of the bible and argue based on that. Pastors have made this malachite 3:10 so popular that no one reads other parts that relates to tithing. Tithe CAN be paid in various ways. What matters is that it's the right percentage and it's from thy heart.
DeleteAnon16.13 bring the other parts that you are referring to...quote the scripture and not what you think should be done.
DeleteThe Bible says we can't pay our tithes to Orphanages??
Deletefree the sheeple
ReplyDeleteHello Poster, I worship in RCCG and i can tell you for free that this style is not applicable in my branch. As my branch is a provincial headquarters, that means it is not a general practice in RCCG. Please object to it as it is not biblical at all
ReplyDeleteParish please. Branch ke?
DeleteLet me just read comments. I love you Stella!!
ReplyDeleteStop enriching stupid pastors, package your tithe and take it to the motherless babies home or any recognised charity organisation. Stop contributing to any hoes pocket money.
ReplyDeleteWhat does the Word of God say? Is the motherless babies' home His storehouse?
DeleteStop misleading people anon. Tithe is different from any other offerings
DeleteBertie please free people to do as they please. I choose to give to the motherless babies home rather than to give a so called man of God to be giving to his side chick! And God has been blessing me tremendously!
DeleteBertie, leave that aurgument . Pastors quote bible when it suits them. But when it doesnt , they will term it old testament. So its old testament and applicable to israelites and their law of inheritance. Dont really have time for long talk now if not i would say make we argue it till the end.
DeleteCharity organisation/mortherless babies home that the people incharge freely divert donations for their personal use?
DeleteGive from your heart and forget what/how it's used.
If someone were dying and needed money badly- life and death, would you refuse to give that person the money with you or would you package it in registered and unregistered envelope and give to His Storehouse??
DeleteNawa o. I haven't heard of this one o. Let me read comments
ReplyDeletePlease I attended redeem church during my service two years and I didn't experience such. This is bad and shouldn't be allowed in the church of God.
ReplyDeleteThe same thing was told to me in my church but I objected but still pay my tithe . it's my business with Jehovah. All this money conscious material minded people
ReplyDeleteI really don't think it's right calling an individual to remind them of tithing...
ReplyDeleteOK will be back to read comments.....
ReplyDeletePlease, which parish specifically? Because, I attend Rccg and I've never been given a customised envelope or whatever. Payment of tithe is supposed to be discreet. This is so wrong.
ReplyDeleteWell, me I am not working yet so am not paying tithe...but during my single days I do pay but not regular, as I prefer to sow seed both in church and outside church...
ReplyDeleteAm sorry I don't believe in tithe....
Well I am not a redeemed member but I can tell you that we have the same envelopes in my church, though its the same for offering, tithes and all other seeds, you just tick the applicable box for the type of offering you're giving. Yes you write your names, phone number, email, cell group or what ever office you belong to if you belong to any. Records are kept so that Pastor can see if members are regular or any incosinstances so that she can pray for the members as well as counsel them incase they're having problems maybe at work etc.
ReplyDeleteYour husband can decide to change the church if he wants to but it is nt advisable to attend this church and then pay your tithe somewhere else. The tithes are brought to the priests and the priest blesses you.
Exactly what I know. It's just to pray for the member when he or she is no longer consistent. They can even support the member if he or she is no longer doing well.
DeleteYou people misunderstand the body of Christ alot, always finding faults. Too bad!
What's the big deal, that's how the church takes record... I don't attend Redeem but in my church tithe cards have spaces for names, address and the unit you belong to and no one has complained about it either. It's either your husband follows the church laws or better still change, church, no need complaining about it. Go to another church that you are comfortable with their doctrine
ReplyDeleteIs it Biblical?
DeleteYour bible says do not allow your left hand to see what your right hand is giving
I will rather pay my tithes in a church that will not take note of my name
To your first question Yes, all Rccg has the customized envelop.
ReplyDeleteSecond question is irrelevant as that is his life.
Third question, I feel is wrong. His tithe is between him and his maker. Nobody should interfere into it, what if he doesn't pay tithe won't he go to church again.
Seriously some churches has lost direction and are now doing what they feel is good for them.
Not all please or have you attended all?
DeleteI attend RCCG.
Why don't you people give this money to those that really need it.reach out to the less privilege
ReplyDeletePls, tithing is unto the Lord. Just pay the tithe, and forget about it. Different churches with different modes of operation.
ReplyDeleteCheers..
Well... all things being equal, I wouldn't bother about such because I currently live in a country where churches are regarded as charity organizations, and the government requires that all donors and donations be registered and tracked accordingly (for tax related purposes). But in this case hmm..... the matter be as e get
ReplyDeleteIt is very wrong. Tithe is confidential between oneself and God
ReplyDeleteHIAN. CHANGE YOUR CHURCH
ReplyDeleteIs your husband a worker? if not then I don't think it is appropriate for the church to write names of members paying tithe on an envelope. In as much as they want to be accountable I think it is a breach of privacy like your husband mentioned. I ve been a member/worker of different parishes of the Redeem church and this is the first time I am hearing such, but such could be applicable to workers, its a way of making the workers accountable and encouraging them to be faithful to God/church cos theirs is a higher calling and Gods Judgement will start with the church (Pastors, Ministers, workers)
ReplyDeleteTithe my ass.
ReplyDeleteLuke chapter 21:1-4
21 Now as he looked up, he saw the rich dropping their gifts into the treasury chests. 2 Then he saw a needy widow drop in two small coins of very little value, 3 and he said: “Truly I say to you that this poor widow put in more than they all did. 4 For all of these put in gifts out of their surplus, but she, out of her want, put in all the means of living she had.”
2Co 8:12For if the readiness is there first, it is especially acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what a person does not have.
2corinthians 9:7 Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Tithe paying is not compulsory
Let church leaders read this from BV Chameleon (apart from tithe my a**). I really wonder what is happening in the body of Christ the church. I didn't want to comment but I have to say that these people should go and study Jesus. Jesus was so angry at the temple being turned into a place of business. Do some of them really believe in God? They are causing people to doubt and leave the church by the day. It is sad. But those doing right, by their fruits, we shall know them.
DeleteRedeem can over do....Yorubas rule the church thus exploiting people for cash...I attend redeem in Houston close to bissonet road n it's crap Lord forgive me they are too money concious
ReplyDeleteThis is so wrong in all ramifications, how can you calculate someone's income by his tax. I bet not all RCCG does that.
ReplyDeleteMadam, this is so simple and shouldn't even be a chronicle.
Yes you can pay your tithe elsewhere but still worship in your church.
Your husband wasn't wrong reacting the way he did.
There is no biblical backup for this yeye thing they are doing.
Issues of tithe. Interesting
ReplyDeleteTithe to me means 10% of my earnings in a month.
Sometimes e no dey pass #100 or #200 so I will just jejenly drop it in the offering box on a non sunday day sef. No be God I dey give ? He alone knew it is my tithe.
Blessings attached ? I don't know o but I know He prepares a table before my enemies even na ijebu garri.
I pray God gives all of us a discerning spirit.
Just coming back will be back to read comments. Make I go find tummy tummy wey dey find me
it is practiced In small branches and among regular member , it was d lady who did d wrong thing, ushering department is meant to b secretive, it is part of what they are taught during workers in training.
ReplyDeleteSecretive ke? Only the truth will set us free.
DeleteThe espitle I typed earlier dissapeared.
ReplyDeleteAnyway most people dont know Winners have small tithe booklet which you fill and put in your tithe envelope.Am sure its for record keeping on their path and yours. My branch pastor then once said "when things are difficult bring out your tithe booklet and pray to God reminding him of your Obedience or you use it as a point of contact to prophecy a turnaround."
My home church that year used to give us tithe receipt lol.It shows Church membership and also when one needs assistance from church they check their booklet and priotise those whom are faithful in tithe paying. Not that they dont assist the "lowly" as well.
The pastor even said Jesus noticed the widows mite as a result of record keeping.
Anyway I dont see any issue here, the most important thing is that your husband believes in the tithe convenant and wether he writes his name or not is a matter of choice.
I attend rccg and I find this hard to believe. I pay my tithes and offerings and it is nobody's business. R u sure it is a redeemed church?
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... so the church I attended in Uni had a tithe register. When I questioned it, an elder told me that many people who are faithful tithers need assistance from church from time to time. While many who 'rob God' demand assistance from church also. He also said that the tithe was used to run the church and help those in need. So they keep a record, for them to be able to assist regualr tithers with more urgency. Say, you want to get married, Or you're doing a burial of a loved one, or you need fees for school, or you're going through temporary financial challenges that make them place you on an allowance, etc. but that if you're not a regular tither, the assistance would be limited cause they can't rob Peter to pay Paul. They make it very clear that they run on tithes paid by others to be able to fund this charity. So in order to keep the charity box flowing, members should be faithful in their tithe. And it was found out that those who weren't tithing were benefiting from the charity box more than those who were. Because sometimes, the charity box is empty and when faithful tithers need support from the church they have used all the money to fund non-tithers who have long forgotten. Do you understand?
ReplyDeleteNow the church I attend in lagos, we give tithe anonymously. And I didn't understand this concept of tithe register. But when he explained it, I felt they had to do that from previous experiences of people not paying tithe running back to the church when they're in need and returning to not paying tithe when they stabilize. However, the issue of the woman calling out your husband to say bla bla bla is very unnecessary. Yes he is entitled to his privacy with tithing. And even if you know you don't let the tither know that you know. I work in church administration and accounts (we keep records of church funds and pay salaries monthly, allocate funds for instruments, infrastructural repairs, ensure that allocated funds for outreach programs are used appropriately - because sometimes people just keep demanding as if the money they gave them can't run the program when it's more than enough) and I see mouth watering cheques of tithers tucked in envelopes. When you see the account name or company name the sum is coming from, of course you will know the member. I can't go and tell them that this and that because I saw their tithe amount. Am I mad ni? Infact it even makes me sit up and trust God because some tithe pass my salary 😂😂 And Ive watched some people's tithe cheques grow steadily over the years.
Madam, please if you feel uncomfortable, you're not a tree or stone you move away from there. If some members are okay, let them stay. You're not okay with it, so you can move on from there.

ReplyDeleteFather Lord let ur angles locate me in this blog Amen
Na wa o them go still dey monitor you again... I know here when you pay your tithe you put your name on the envelope so when its tax season church gives you like a tax receipt so you can use that as a tax write off.
ReplyDeleteI dont know if this happens in all Redeemed churches but I know it happens in the one I attend I stopped going to this particular church just because of this same Issue. The very first time I got to the church and wanted to pay my tithe I asked for a random envelope and I was told I would be given a card. i refused and insisted on collecting the white envelope they tried convincing me to take the card and I just told them not to worry & I sent the tithe to my mum to pay in for me. I dont know why they do that tho but I had to leave the church as I cant keep attending a church I wont be comfortable to pay my tithe
ReplyDeleteI attend RCCG and I can authoritatively tell u that it isn't d style of d church.Ur hubby could pay his tithe using d normal envelope.God will know it is tithe.
ReplyDelete#myopinion#
This is so wrong and not applicable in all redeem churches,my issue is not with the documentation, my issue is with the pestering,if I don't want to pay my tithe regularly how is that the church business, this is how they keep moving further from the light.
ReplyDeleteMadam this is how people bring curses on themselves. When you go to a church and their policy, doctrine is not acceptable to you or your spirit, leave. I'm sure there are other churches in your neighborhood. Church is not a place to counter doctrine. Leave in peace.
ReplyDeleteShatap there fool.I'm sure you're one of those brain washers threatening people upadan with yoyr useless curse. See your mouth like church is not a place to counter doctrine.its either you're a brain washer or a brain washed fool.
DeleteSee much talk. Don't counter doctrine.
DeleteI am a member of RCCG but I have never heard of such before. This is a very wrong practice. How will call someone to remind them of their tithe??? I mean it's very wrong. Pls the overseer of such parish should be called to other. Tithe should be between individuals and God and nothing else.Yes there is a customized envelope but no one calculates your tithe for you. Pls let's not turn the house of God into something else. Haba
ReplyDeleteI attend RCCG and I love it,I have heard it b4 dat some RCCG hv a special
ReplyDeleteEnvelop for tithe but in my church we
Don't do that we hav envelop for tithe but not with Ur name written on it;it not rite,
I use to attend redeem church, how they collect tithe is through a customised envelop, but they don't write names rather they give you a number. If you want to pay tithe, go to ushers stand, pick your envelop and pay your tithe. The ushers recording won't even know your number. So poster it is not applicable to all redeem parishes. Let your husband meet the parish pastor and discuss it.
ReplyDeleteMy sis, in RCCG every tithe payer has a customized envelop. The money inside each envelop has to be recorded for returns purpose. For business people that pays their tithe randomly without knowing exactly how well you've done financially for the month, you can always ask for the details of your tithe. Another issue, is with ushers stealing people's tithe, nobody can steal what is obvious yours and that has bn recorded against your name. My mother once paid 4k but it was recorded as 400, and when she complained, they had to correct it and apologize for the error, so whether it was intentional or not, the usher was called to order. In all, it is for your own sake. To follow up members who are faithful or not to tithe paying is for their own spiritual growth and good. A pastor once gave an offering in a particular currency and when he asked to see what was collected for the day, that particular currency was not missing , so some things are done out of past experiences. Please, you must pay your tithe where you are bn fed spiritually.
ReplyDeletePls stop saying in Rccg every thite payer has a customized envelope.
DeleteThat is not true at all. I have been attending Rccg this will be my 4th year. I've attended several parishes and none has customised envelope with names.
What they have is offering envelope/ thite envelope etc. Nothing else. This is as far as I know and have seen.
Madam, I have been a Winners Chapel member for over 20 years. I equally worshipped at Canaanland, Ota till last year when I got married and had to join my husband to Redeem. During my service at Winners Chapel, I pay my tithe on a monthly basis using my tithe booklet which has a space for name, address, amount in words and figures etc. However, since the booklet was in my possession I ensure I never filled in my exact address but used my real names just for privacy sake. On joining Redeem I noticed that tithe payment was conducted in a different manner as they had a special envelop that you collect from the ushers but it didn't have space for name, address or anything that had to do with you disclosing yourself. But each Sunday those who paid their tithe in the course of the week or those who want to pay their tithe on that particular Sunday are requested to stand up, get prayed for. Those who have already paid theirs will just sit back after the prayers while those with theirs will match towards the basket to drop their tithe. Hence, the pattern this Redeem you both are attending is following isn't right. Paying of one's tithe truthfully is between the individual and God not another fellow man.
ReplyDeleteNow as for your husband objecting to that Redeem Church's pattern he is right because he chose to pay his tithe and should not be monitored as if his decision is based on their input. As for the last question I do not have a proven response but I think one should pay their tithe where they worship because it is like watering the garden you feed from.
I hope you know tithing is not only done in church? How about your hubby take that 10% monthly and give to orphans and needy... Even widows but let it be the 10 % meant for tithe.. Trust me this brings more blessings than giving it to Church.
ReplyDeleteMalachi 3:10
DeleteNo tithe and offering from me yet HIS Grace, mercies and kindness overflows in my life.
ReplyDeleteMISS Jacobs.
For some reasons recently, I attend winners chapel canaland tho buh stopped cos of my pregnancy and the bad road, I attend redem only on Sundays nw but I don't payy tithe there, I pay my tithe at winners chapel during the midweek service at the dominion city.but the redem I attend on Sundays I don't think they do like this.
ReplyDeleteMy husband stopped paying tithe in a redeemed branch also because of this, they attach a no to your name and track you. And mind you Churches are filled with mixed crowd. Asked why it was so, the secretary said so that the money is properly accounted for, meaning the pastors and accountants etc are very capable of stealing!!!! God's judgement would start in the church
ReplyDeleteMy husband now gives tithe to less previlege, the tithe in churches these days are not used for Levites, windows etc as was instructed in the bible

Uncountable likes for you BV XXXTRINITY. EVERYONE SHOULD PAY TITHE BY THE DIRECTION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT .
ReplyDeleteTithe is between you and God, not you the pastor/church and God. For those saying it's so records are kept on who is paying, is the church God? He alone keeps record of who gave with a joyful, whole heart. If the right hand should not know what the left hand is doing when it comes to giving, no one else has the right to know no matter what church you go to. Poster you and your hubby should find a different church, the only checks and balances should be between you and God.
ReplyDeleteThat even sounds like a business not a church.
Please tithe must not be inform of money, and if you read the Bible well you can also help the helpless with your tithes. It must not be given to the Pastors, as for me i dont give my tithes in Church. I give those in need of it

ReplyDeleteI think the way Redeem church is springing up at every nook and cranny, you will definitely have the fake ones and those who do their own thing, you will find those who are redeem in name and are something else in practice. Let the Redeem church audit herself and control the proliferation of her churches. It is getting out of control!

ReplyDeleteMy Answer will be robust, therefore, I want the OP to read carefully. By the way, I am not the anonymous that has been talking up there.
Tithe is not secretive as people want to present it especially your husband.
You think it is personal because it is monetized in our own time. If it was to be material tithes like cows, yam, corns, etc, according to Malachai 3:8-10 which says bring all the tithes... what will your husband or anybody hide?
It means if your tithe, as it was in the olden days, was to be 10 cows, you will need to bring ten cows in a truck or 2 trucks to church, so what do you want to hide when everybody would have seen you when you are tying them in the church yard.
Church policy should not be misconstrued. Some may not be right but human elements are always responsible, most of the times. Why they are keeping the record may be for accountability sake, record purpose, future reference, etc
We live in an era where thieves come to church and pay tithes. A well kept record may save the church in the future in case anything comes up.
Finally, I understand the security implication of this and the fear it may bring. I understand some disgruntled elements in the church may use this against people but we should always see things from the positive side.
Note that some RCCG parishes don't use tithe cards, they don't record, and they don't ask people questions like that. I have been to many churches and I know of surety that parishes of churches ( not only RCCG) behave outside the laid down procedure at time.
All my years in RCCG I have never seen customized tithe cards
ReplyDeletePlease I want to ask these people that said some churches use tithe to follow up members who are faithful,is there no other way to follow up aside using tithe? Imagine delaying someone's wedding because of tithe. Is that part of the follow up too?Has tithing become compulsory? I thought it's something you give freely. Abeg you people should come and educate me o. How do they monitor those members that are not working or are they not part of the church?
ReplyDeleteReligion and Politics are two very controversial subjects. It still amazes me how heated the conversation gets when opposing views are aired. Some people take it super personal and see any opposing view as an affront not just to their person but to their way of reasoning/ their ideologies. So I'll try to tread cautiously and avoid suggesting my personal beliefs or my opinion on tithing or the mode of tithing is the superior one.
ReplyDeleteLet's not go into Biblical quotations because, clearly, each individual can interpret a verse in the Bible to fit each person's lifestyle or mindset. After all, the different doctrines of the different churches are based on how the General Overseers or the spiritual leaders understand and interpret the scriptures. 1 verse can have 10 different meanings to 10 different people because the Scriptures are open and subject to various interpretations. So let's apply common sense or logic, if you will.
My darling, if your hubby is unimpressed with any particular doctrine of a church and it's so disturbing to the point where you have to ask for different people's opinions, why don't you guys leave and go to the church you're more comfortable with? Why remain in a church and keep challenging her doctrines? Why remain miserable as you solely try to revolutionise a church's doctrine on tithe by revolting and acting like a renegade member? What's the rationale for paying your tithes in church "B" while you keep attending church "A"? That, in my mind, is quite irrational. If your hubby likes how church "B" handles the mode of tithe payments, the reasonable thing to do is to cross over and become a member of that church. I wonder what will happen if you guys go to church "B" only to discover they have more ridiculous doctrines on other issues? Just a thought.
Be that as it may, it's still the better option, find a church which agrees with your ideologies and become a committed member. Remaining in church "A" and paying your tithes in church "B" just to irritate the finance department or the lady who violates your privacy, is like chopping off your nose to spite your face. I can assure you that you will be robbing yourself the blessings allocated to you because you will be harbouring grievances towards the church while still attending and hoping to be blessed. It's actually a slippery slope, before you know it, you'll start questioning the instructions the church gives her members, slowly but surely, your resentment will be transferred to the pastor and you will start revolting and second-guessing his teachings and the way he preaches. Instead of harbouring such negativity and challenging a church's doctrines, the saner thing to do is to leave and look for a church which agrees with your mindset?
#e-bearhugs.
A couple in my church paid tithe and accused the ushers of taking the money. I was so so surprised, then I asked someone, were they monitoring their tithe? Is it not God money again? It was later discovered that the money was wrongly posted to another place.
ReplyDeleteI did it in one redeem branch in festac. I hated it from start. Its totally wrong to me. Pay your tithe as its between you and God. I won't do it again in any church. If them like make them no support me if I dey do anything. My God will stand by me. If you are paying with cheque, they will definitely know, but that's on your own terms
ReplyDeleteNot all Rccg parishes do that. Mainland I think. Go to another or better still pray about it. So you go to the right one. Besides don't allow Sisi amebo deprive you if your blessings.
ReplyDeleteGiving to charities and those in need is good because you are lending to God and God always bless. Your tithe is a command which must be obeyed. Tithe is different from Offering or seed sowing, so you all should know the difference.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, Everything should now be on social media, so you and your husband can not decide on how you want to do your spiritual life, The bible says that we should not allow the name of GOD be mock,is not by force to go to redeem, now unbelievers will have a reason to talk to the body of christ, as if, if you allergic to something you will ask people if you should continue taking it. PS.Am not a redeemer i be confirm Methodist. And for the redeem people saying they have not heard it before clap for unaself cos that is the norm, and the money is not used for helping the needy it is used to pay salaries of workers and ministers. Then to raise new churches.
ReplyDeleteI agree you fill out all those informations maybe to avoid parishes from eating peoples tithes, but what i wont agree is asking him if he has paid his tithe.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you talk to your pastor if you don't understand the doctrine of the church or better still write to the G.O!
Dear Poster, Tithe Recording is a regular practice for workers and Minister's in RCCG,It helps you to take record of your tithe and for personal accountability,In my church as a worker and treasurer, U will have tithe card where ur monthly tithe is recorded and signed by the treasurer. No body is forced to do it and it is done with no names attached to the cards. Your tithe belongs to God and no body should be interested in the amount you give, It is just a regular instruction and for ordination purposes you will be asked to submit your tithe card evidencing tithe payment.

ReplyDeleteOn "mega churches" and tithes and hypocrisy etc
ReplyDeleteI do like to enter the church in my city to pray during the day; especially on the days that I am off duty. Each time I entered the catholic church (I am not a catholic; I am without denomination), not only do I pray well without "harassment" but sometimes, I will be there for 2 hours and by the time I am about to leave, some of the people I met there are not in any way preparing to leave. I am usually challenged by these people. Several time, I had stopped by the "mega churches" (Redeemed for e.g.) to pray, they looked at me like I've come to steal, most of their parishes are under lock and key. is it only the orthodox churches that are "house of prayer"?
Really I have learnt to do house fellowships to learn the scriptures with other like minded Christians and have not gone or needed any of these churches in the last 5 years. I grow very well in the Lord and we do go online (social media)/prisons for evangelism. If you are a Christian who do not pray and fast and study your bible, very soon, every wind of doctrine will ferry you!
Again, why is every girl (especially fair ones) that go to these "mega churches" put on "deliverance for 21 days"? Did Christ or his disciples do that. One of the teenage girls on my street after being put through such "deliverance' was also "put in the family way". The worst is that she does not know the father of her child because multiple "deliverance ministers" had her. Thank God she got saved during her pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby boy. Or should I talk about the "Rev. Fathers" that browse the girls in their congregations.
For those of you who would "rattle" about tithing; I pay it very well to strangers (prisoners and street kids rehabilitation), widows, orphans, and some missionaries (who of course have no other means of livelihood); if you care to, you can read the scriptures; Deut. 14:28, 26:12, practiced in the NT; Acts 6:1-6, 1 Tim. 5:9, James 1:27. A lot of you will be surprised that I did not start my quotation from Malachi 3. the point is that "God's house has become as spiritual house (1 Pet. 2:5-9). By God's grace, I've taken many kids off the street, enabled widows begin small scale businesses, helped missionaries out of poverty etc. and I am not lacking in the blessings" from the Lord. I feel more fulfilled.
That's not true. I attend a provincial head quarters, I'm a worker but my tithe isn't regular, and some times I don't even use my tithe card, I just put it inside the offering basket.
ReplyDeleteNobody has questioned me. So maybe the girl just like your husband lol
TITHES TO THE LESS PRIVILEGED
ReplyDeleteYES, YES! YES! YOU CAN GIVE IT; I have been practicing and preaching it for years and that is the word of God. PASTORS WILL NOT WANT YOU TO SEE THESE SCRIPTURES, THEY ONLY QUOTE MALACHI; SEE;THIS IS WHERE THE LAW OF TITHES WAS INSTRUCTED;
DEUT. 14:28“At the end of every third year, bring the entire tithe of that year’s harvest and store it in the nearest town. 29Give it to the Levites, who will receive no allotment of land among you, as well as to the foreigners living among you, the orphans, and the widows in your towns, so they can eat and be satisfied. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all your work.
DEUT. 26:12 When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.
IT WAS PRACTICED IN THE NEW TESTAMENT; THE WIDOWS RECEIVED A DAILY DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD;
Acts 6:1 But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek-speaking believers complained about the Hebrew-speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.
1 Timothy 5:9A widow who is put on the list for support must be a woman who is at least sixty years old and was faithful to her husband.c 10She must be well respected by everyone because of the good she has done. Has she brought up her children well? Has she been kind to strangers and served other believers humbly?d Has she helped those who are in trouble? Has she always been ready to do good?
DOES YOUR PASTOR/CHURCH HAVE A LIST OF WIDOWS THAT THEY SUPPORT OR IS HE EMBEZZLING THE TITHES?
James 1:27(NIV)
27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
I attend RCCG. This is not done in my church. We only use have different envelopes for offering, thanksgiving and tithe. You cant even write your name on the envelope because there is no room for that.
ReplyDeleteGood evening everyone, I know we all have opinions as to tithings and we all know its biblical.
ReplyDeleteIn RCCG, all members advised to pay tithes with their names and not compulsory for all but for workers and ministers it is. The reason is that
1. When your tithes drops consistently, pastor would know and may call you personally to know what is happening at work in order to know where to come in directly in prayers.
2. It is not to pry into ur personal life
3. It helps to fire prayers accurately and etc.
Some of us don't feel free with it but I don't think it is out of place. If ur pastor is ur Shepard indeed, why hide anything? Yeah! We know we have so many men of GOD using this for biz but not all pastors. I've been a member of RCCG since 1992 December and I'm still there though there av bn challenges but look up to JESUS and follow the HOLY SPIRIT leading.... GOD bless us all.
