NDDC MD’s Convoy in Road Mishap at Ikot Abasi

The convoy of the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Nsima. U. Ekere has been involved in a road mishap.

The incident occurred at Essene Junction, opposite Regina Caeli in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, when a fuel tanker ran into the pilot vehicle carrying policemen attached to the NDDC Managing Director who was on his way to Calabar to receive the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

The tanker driver, who apparently lost control of his vehicle, also hit a motorcyclist and his passenger. The passenger died from the impact while the rider sustained serious injuries.

The victims were immediately taken to a nearby hospital where they are receiving urgent medical attention for injuries. Unfortunately, two of the policemen could not be saved.

Members of the entourage in other vehicles were unhurt in the unfortunate incident

  2. Am I perturbed? Not at all
The evil that men do, that man had better do the needful else worse things are coming for him.
Pay Nddc proposed 2015/2016 scholarships funds and don't make innocent people suffer for your lack of ignorance of proposing awards to them to study abroad and still can't foot their bills till now.
No hard feelings, just airing my view.

    1. What are we going to do about that road mbok?

Since all these years... Both Cross river and AKWA ibom government refuse to do anything on that road

Just from @Calabar to Uyo that should take one not up to 45 minute... You stay in that bad road and traffic for hours, not one hour, I mean hours

      I am tired mbok

God preserve me and my loved ones when ever we play that road. Amen.

  7. I served in Ikot Abasi in Ukpum Okon Comprehensive Secondary School to be precise. Regina Coeli was just a stone throw from my place. Akwa Ibom State has some of the best roads in the South if not the best. So this has nothing to do with bad roads i'm going to attribute it to something more sinister. In the eleven months I stayed there I witnessed freak accidents that will make your blood run cold especially on Ette road and Ikot Akan Junction. I remember the time a trailer ran into the house of a woman sitting in front of her house on that same Essene road very close to Regina Coeli, the woman died on the spot, her legs were crushed by the trailer. What about that time a tanker carrying feul tipped over on Ikot Akan Junction and burnt all the taxis carrying passengers to Uyo (thank God no one died) or that time two corp members almost lost their lives while going for CDS on that same road. No be today my people, it is only what we see in the physical that we can explian.

    1. @cinwon Emmanuel, you are very correct. That's my village, the roads are good but curvy and the number of accidents recorded every week is terrifying. God help us oh.

  10. When Tanker Drivers Are Not Even Licensed To Drive big Truck Like that, that's what happens, they keep loosing control.

May their souls rest in peace and quick recovery to the wounded.

  11. I think our road needs banking which is what has been making auto mobiles to skid. Hmm!! They always drive and break rules like they created the road themselves.

  12. I'm sorry about the accident but I guess the spirit of the scholarship students that they are owing isn't really happy with them. May the soul of the departed rest in peace.
