Beautician Tenny Coco Talks About Beaching Her Skin And Reverting To Her Old Color

The make up artist took to her Instagram page to talk about how she started bleaching her skin at the age of 19, getting back her original skin colour and how she wouldn't have tampered with her skin if she could turn back the hands of time...

I pity people who lost their beautiful skin tone metamorphosing into new skins like Abutata.(Butterflies)

Transitioning back to ur old kin is easiest, just drop the steroids and rub shea butter or coconut oil.

    2. Chi, society has a very huge roll to play in it.
Most of y'all fair people say the most.
Remember the one and only time we had an argument?, Twas cuz you insulted black skin.
So imagine if I was struggling with esteem issues and read your post? I would have definitely succumbed.
So, Yes,Society is to be blamed.
Society are human beings who say the wrong stuff to darkskinned ladies all the damn time.

Last week monday, strolled to this fair aunty's shop to buy hairnet, she asked me why I was wearing black knowing that I am dark skinned. And she had called and wailed earlier that I don't come any more to her shop. When she asked me the question, I told her that her questions on my colour and choice of clothes are the reasons I would never step foot into her shop again.
Who gave you the frigging right to tell me the colours to wear or not?

The other day, I asked this vendor If she had Fenty Beauty foundation in my shade, Instead of her to say No, she answered me that "shebi I know I am too dark?"
I wanted to tell her not to be stupid, If I can find my shade in Black Up and Mac, why not Fenty?
      All I said was "Okay".
      But deleted her afterwards.

For me, I have switched to Bodyshop. Body butter, cleanser, toner, mask, night cream, bath soaps. All bodyshop.
If I am going to be black, I might as well have a well moisturised, healthy velvet black skin.

    4. Olivia, you know to 80% of Nigerians all fair skinned girls bleach!
      And that's wrong to say

Embracing your dark skinned doesn't mean you should talk down on light skinned girls
Admit it babe, light-skinned girls these days get insult thrown at them just as much as dark-skinned girls

Having to constantly defend your skin colour and have people not call you a bleacher is not something that is easy to handle
I've never talked silly about dark skinned people as my brothers and sister are dark skinned
Where I get feisty is when you try to put me down to uplift yourself
If black is beautiful, am I white?
Like where is that notion coming from? Aren't we all blacks?

I will not just feign ignorance to the fact that dark skinned people are always looking for ways to make light skinned peeps look bad for their skin colour
I guess I will be the one to speak up about this
I still say there's beauty in all human.

Anon, you wey manage get airhead what is your contribution to this post?

    5. Olivia, I am dark skinned

Please any suggestion on creams or stuffs to use to be well moisturized?

Please affordable ones if you know any

    6. Thank you Chi, I get your point. It's alright.

DSIC, ST Ives is very affordable, I buy N2,500, but I still use coconut oil for my feet and elbow cuz I have dry skin.
But my new fave is Bodyshop. It's amazing! I have been using the British rose soap and I have had no use for the coconut oil.
It's affordability depends on seller, on their US site, it's $7,that's about NGN 2,590.00 One online IG Vendor sells N7,500.

  12. I noticed it also that she is now dark.
Funnily it makes her look her real age now. This girl is just 25 and she was looking 35 before. looks way younger.
I have nothing against bleachers o. But when they start getting to 50/60 that is when they start seeing the side effects. The creams will no longer work, then the skin starts looking discoloured and hard.
Tone if you must. But completely eradicating your epidermis is harmful in the long-run. You can use natural products that don't contain hydroquinone if you must tone.
Even those pills and Glutathione injections girls take may be harmful to your kidneys.

    1. It's because her makeup was subtle in the picture where she was dark that's why she's looks younger. Heavy makeup makes one look very old also

  14. Story! Let those who want to bleach do so in peace. Does she not also know that a lot of make up brands have cancer causing components in them? But she is still heavily made up! And, some here claiming holier than thou are secretly 'topping' up their supposedly natural fairness. You know yourselves.

Now sdk blog visitors will begin to condemn bleaching, even the ones that tone every day. Meanwhile, it is you men that give women(the weak ones) a terrible complex, you always go for the fairer girls first. I am naturally fair and i know what i am talking about. When i was in secondary school(all girls school) the half caste girls in my class will be 'chased' by boys first before even us fair ones, the really black skinned girls got little to no attention. Kings college boys na wah for them during my time.

  17. Yes oh it is Edible Catering. Maybe she wants to marry and her bobo has told her to stop bleaching. I don't trust this liar. Or her babalawo told her to stop. She's so pretty,

  18. Transitioning isn't easy but it's do-able. Tenny, just say you've seen that dark and curvy strippers are now coming to collect Nigeria's money and you can't let it pass you by when you're a naturelle 😉 and your sis dey sell cream sef oh. I'm impressed sha.
While tenny is still trying to get the attention for the big 'exposé' 😂😂 I will tell you what my mum's friend did.
She was in her 40s when she finally decided she was done with bleaching.
First, if you can afford to, see a dermatologist. They will recommend better.

Secondly, stop everything you're using. As in STOP. Start skin-building (Google), deep moisturizing, using oils, and products with aloe Vera. Drinking alovera juice helps too. Also, use creams with collagen and try to take collagen supplements (you can Google collagen benefits for the skin too, not in the mood to type biko).

Then, try as much as possible to avoid cheap products. If you use good brands (Clarins, Clinique, Creme de La Mer, Lancome etc) they actually make the rejuvenating process more supple. And your skin's thirst for bleaching products, would be quenched by strong and healthier ingredients.

Stop exfoliating for a while, cos you need to build, not shed. Your epidermis might be weak as a result of 'shock' so be careful with knives and sharp objects.

That's all I can remember for now. But trust me, stopping without proper care can really make you look ill, before you start to get that glow.

    ReplyDelete
  19. But if you have naturally fair skin and you're battling with spots, sunburn, and uneven skin tone, cos of skin sensitivity; please find a way to arrange the skin. Fair skin can be difficult to maintain in this climate. Don't bleach to be fair but if you at fair sha take care of it.

  25. Thanks Chikoto for the tips ....Me i am fair but got some shades lighter with bleaching creams but now i want to just be natural how do i go about it?? ..i do also use clarins and clinique products ..also sometimes when I'm under sun my skin look some how dull and oily how do i get a glowing but natural skin

    ReplyDelete
  26. I started bleaching at 13 because i got burnt in some places on my body. At first it was just to lighten the burnt parts (didnt work) but later i started liking it because i looked prettier. But i hated the fact that my beauty depended on some cream, that the day i stopped applying it i would go back to ugly nonetheless i didnt stop. I started getting greedy, wanting to be fairer at all costs and using all sorts of cream that's when i started having stretchmarks all over my body very ugly. And my mom to erase them all concocted a mixture that later worsened my situation. That's how i said it's better if i go back to being ugly and dark. Till this day my stretchmarks are still on my body and im still ugly. There's no moral in my story i just wanted to share it here...
