Emergency Room Series: Testing God?

OMG,Why did i read this!!!!

The ER has been usually very calm. The cases we've been having are not so spectacular, which is a good thing. Guess people are taking good care of themselves and not waiting for things to get seriously out of hand. I pray that God will continue to keep you and yours safe.

The story I'm about to share really breaks my heart but I'm going to tell you as it is. First of all, why do we TEST God? Why do we mix religion with common sense? Why put your health in danger because of some kind of 'social embarrassment' or religious instruction? I am not here to preach but at the end of this post, you'll be the judge.

One of the things I've learnt about being is a nurse is that some people can have absolutely no regard for their own decisions, they look up to other people who they claim are more mature or spirit led to make important life decisions for them. Nobody, absolutely nobody is more connected to your spirit as you are and nobody can make decisions better than you.

A woman in her early forties was rushed to the ER by her husband. She was bleeding and heavily pregnant. She was said to have attempted delivering at home with the aid of some female family members and an auxiliary nurse (quack nurse).

Mind you these people looked financially okay, so its not like they can't afford to have the woman deliver at the hospital but for reasons best known to them, they chose to let her deliver at home. She looked horribly exhausted and could barely breath on her own. Her heart was beating fast to compensate for the blood she had lost at home. Her BP had dropped so low she had to be immediately placed on saline drips. Her blood was taken to check the blood type she would be transfused with. She was placed on oxygen.

The theatre was set. We couldn't attempt vaginal delivery anymore. To make matters even worse, when the doctor was asking the husband about the pregnancy, we found out it was her first pregnancy and she was expecting twins! To make matter more worse, it was as a result of artificial insemination, a very expensive medical procedure to get pregnant and for her to have twins as a result is not common.

The doctors requested an emergency CS as she was already in physical and respiratory distress, mind you it is not even safe to operate on someone who is already in respiratory distress. More family members came in shortly after and they were all panicking. When asked why the husband allowed her to deliver at home despite knowing the dangers, he said it was their family pastor's instructions and that the pastor said the 'enemy will attack her and the babies if she decides to deliver at the hospital or have a CS'. What nonsense!

She could have bled to death at home.

She had been in labour for too long. Her age doesn't even allow it! Not to talk of the fact that she was carrying twins. The husband started begging for a miracle. He even said he would call their pastors to come and pray, but the head of d ER said if any pastor comes in, he/she would be arrested!

It was unbelievable!

After waiting for so many years and spending so much to get pregnant? Is that how easy is it to be brainwashed? Because I don't think anyone in their right senses will do that, it takes a higher force for anyone to agree to such a thing...

The babies were already in distress because of the mother's condition and I couldn't even pick any heart beat with the digital fetoscope. She was wheeled into the theatre but I didn't follow because I knew what was up, we could only hope for a miracle. The relatives could be heard praying loudly outside the ER. I felt angry and sad. Poor woman. Pathetic relatives.

After about 4 hours, she was wheeled out. Sadly, she lost the babies and she had entered a coma so she had to be taken to the ICU. The babies were said to be stillbirths. It was discovered in the theatre that one of the babies was even breeched( the head was up while the leg was coming out of the vagina). Due to the mother's age, blood loss, opened cervix, drained amniotic fluids, prolonged labour, breech presentation and twin gestations, the babies stood no chance. It was too complicated for any of them to survive.

The husband was informed, he couldn't hold back his tears. He said he was following what the prophecy said. He kept saying 'how will I tell her, she already had names for them'. I felt sorry for them. The babies were wrapped but the husband refused to accept them. It was another family member that took the box towards their car. I wonder what would happen to the 'man of God'.

I have a feeling they will be told 'it is the will of God'. Oh, how blind have some become! No sane person could have done this to themselves. We talked about it in the ER. Some of the ER staffs believe they were hypnotised. Where do the couple begin their lives from again??.

I hope justice is served to the 'pastor', or what kind of prophesy was that? We live in a country where we see religious leaders not as mere servants of God but as gods themselves. So much time, money and power is being invested to them.

 Sighs!

What makes you think you can't hear from your own Creator? Your health should be something you alone has control over.

As a nurse, I have seen a lot of health problems and even deaths that could have been easily averted if only the patients paid attention TO themselves and made decisions FOR themselves. RECEIVE CLARITY.

*OMG !!...what a pity!!!!

My own pastor will say, if the doctor says it's operation, go ahead, God will bring you and your baby out alive.

    3. Who else is thinking that after all these, the pastor will tell them to come for deliverance and they will pay hefty sums for anointing oil and prayers for disobeying the "prophet' THUNDER FIRE PROPHET!!

    4. @Eka, I am not religious either and I am not big on traditional church ceremonies. I have relatives right now who are both baptised, and regular members of their respective churches, but they are not speaking to each other, yet they see each other everyday. Now which one of them is in a position to tell anybody about seeking God or anything else...mtschww.

  3. when these MAD pastors and so called men of God will be telling women that having a baby via CS is not the will of God. What utter rubbish!!!!! they will be saying things like you have to "give birth like Hebrew women". Please women listen very well- there is NOTHING wrong with having a baby via CS, nothing at all. Do not let any demon that calls himself pastor tell you otherwise.

    4. Unfortunately, as God says in His Word, people perish for lack of Knowledge. It hurts that Nigerian women are still losing their wives to things such as these. Hebrew women, Hebrew women but that scripture clearly shows that they had assistive birth.. clearly. The midwives only lied to Pharoah when he asked them that the women gave bad things before they(the midwives got there and the Bible says why -‘because they had the fear of God and didn’t want to kill the babies.

Anyone, I mean, anyone who allows any preacher to deceive them when it comes to their health has only themselves to blame cos if you know the way thwse preachers have specialists on retainer eh, you go fear

  6. This is what becomes of people with brains and pure access to the bible and wouldn't read for themselves.

C'mon! If we were in a country where religion was a death affair or reading your bible was a fast way to death, I wouldn't be this bitter.

But how can we be in a country with no hindrance and we wouldn't read our own bibles but do everything by proxy?

    Pray by proxy
    Read bibles by proxy
    Prophesy by proxy?!..

What is wrong with you people!!!!

    This is sad.

  7. sad indeed. I don't pity alot of these people because they like to do wuruwuru to the answer. bible is available, God is just few sincere sentences away, but no. they want other people to help them talk to God. they can read but would prefer someone else to interprete the bible to them. such foolishness.

  8. Nobody has a quicker access to God on MY issues than Jesus Christ, the one I have access to freely BY MYSELF.

I don't care if you have a million-member congregation or if people fall under your shadow! I don't care if you can teach the word eloquently, even the devil knows the scriptures.

I have my mouth, I use it to pray.

You come to me with a terrible prophesy, I counter it immediately to your face.

Anyone that wants to harm me should go take permission from God first like the devil did with Job. If God grants you, then so be it.

But that you will sit somewhere under one title and be controlling my life? When you are not Jesus?
    You will try harder.

This couples' own has happened. I hope they come out of their gullibility and approach God for mercy.

    1. You actually said it all.
It's so sad and annoying that people become so gullible at the though of a Pastor. They believe absolutely everything said by them, I won't be surprised if he asked them to kill someone or jump off a roof and they will see God. How pathetic!

I won't let anyone ride on my intelligence in that manner.

I will talk to my God, fast as much as I can and study my Bible they way God wants me.

      I hope the couple learns.

  11. Hmmmm, to think the woman that fixes my nails is currently going through this. She's been carrying her pregnancy for More than a year now. She said her pastor warned her never to try giving birth by cs else she's either going to die or loose her baby. She's lost two babies before this one(still births). She said it's a spiritual attack from her husband's family because they do not want her to give birth to boys, the still births were boys. She even had to leave the house when she was in her first trimester cos she was told to do so by this same pastor. As it is, she is still carrying the belle about because of what a pastor told her.
I just pray and hope it ends well for her.

I hate stories like this. It's good to seek counsel from your pastor when needed, but do with sense. Dont swallow everything hook, line and sinker. You should know the advice to take and the one to discard. It's a pity!

  16. Wow....just wow. I don't know why humans or maybe most Nigerians can't think with their own brains when it comes to religion. Even if the Pastor "saw" something dangerous....why are they Christians if they don't believe God will protect them? Can't they pray on their own? Is it not the same God the pastor is praying to abi there's a part in the bible that says it's only the prayers of pastors God hears. Poor woman.

  21. MOG men of God usually take advantage of susceptible people (more of women because of their vulnerability) especially when it has to do with marriage, bearing of children and also employment. Jesus Christ said I am the way, he didn't say I am a way, I am the way, the truth and the life. So many people prefer to go through their pastors to Jesus rather than going to Jesus. I know of a woman who was given an anointed water and was told to do some abominable things just to get married. We do not need to spiritualize everything because God has given us wisdom to discern. My half cent

  22. This is exactly what happened to my nephew's wife in February this year, the pastor even told her she was carrying twins, but when CS was eventually carried out at almost point of death , it was a single still birth. As a lawyer, I demanded for the pastor's identity to prosecute him but to no avail. Religion is truly the "opium of the masses"

  24. A Pastor told his congregant the hard truth i am just a vessel not God that will provide answers to your prayers. Some will not listen rather keep worshiping men of God. You can have a mentor but don't turn him to god. Seek God of men and not men of God.
    So sad.

  25. at least thank God that the woman did not die. people shud be wise pls, pray but use wisdom too. any woman above 40yrs that can get pregnant by any means shud not contemplate giving birth at home except it came suddenly.

  26. Religion is truly the opium if the masses. People should learn to use their brain.

    ReplyDelete
  27. its a pity they lost the babies, and the pastor may later tell them the babies could have survive if the woman was not taken to hospital.how i wish i can open my neigbours head and insert all the comment here in her brain, the way she carry her G.O gor head as if am not a christian or i dont have pastors in my church.the bible says My people perish for they lack knowlege

  28. I do not know why so many Christians are contemptuous of the medical sciences and science in general, but blindly follow a pastor who does not have to have even studied to give him/herself the title of pastor. It was not the pastor who assisted them in their desire to conceive, it was medicine, so why would they then put the ideas of the pastor above the medical professionals that assisted them to get where they wanted to be. Everybody knows that new mothers over 40 should be having a C-section, on top of it this woman was carrying twins and they believed a pastor over a trained medical professional? Chances are she will never conceive again based on the details of this story, they got one chance and they f'd it up because of some 'prophesy'. What are we to pity now, stupidity, foolishness, religiosity or their pain?

    ReplyDelete
  29. i believe in prophecy, i believe in men of God. i also believe in common sense. even if the prophet said not no go to a hospital, what happened to asking a QUALIFIED DOCTOR OR MIDWIFE come to your house for home delivery? nothing wrong with home delivery, people have been doing it but these kids are the answers you have been looking for. do it right, all the way right. hope she is ok sha. God grant her wisdom for the next kids.

    1. Nothing is wrong with home delivery if you are young and healthy or have had previous pregnancies with no complications. An over 40yrs old first time pregnant woman with twins should not even attempt a home birth, such a pregnancy is deemed high risk by the medical community. In fact all pregnancies with multiple fetuses are high risk irrespective of the age of the mother or if they have had a previous pregnancy. Once you have a high risk pregnancy you should always present yourself to a qualified hospital for delivery. Her obgyn likely was not even going to wait for the due date to do the c-section, they would have likely taken the babies a week or so before the actual due date to lessen the risk of problems. This is probably what the 'profit' was told and came up with his 'profitsee' from being told the babies would be delivered before the due date.
