The commission said in a statement signed on Sunday by its spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, that there was no truth whatsoever in the claims being perpetrated by The Peoples Democratic Party and some politically motivated elements out to spurn the image of the anti- graft agency.
Wilson said, “The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has been drawn to media publications alleging that it had frozen the account of Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the September 22, 2018 Osun State governorship election and those of his family members, including the musician, David Adeleke.
“The Commission calls on members the public to disregard the report, which is patently false and contrived to dress the agency with a partisan garb in the unfolding political contest in Osun State. For the avoidance of doubt, at no time did the EFCC place a freeze order on any account belonging to members of the Adeleke family. The purported freeze order which has unfortunately been amplified by pliable sections of the media without any attempt at confirmation, is alien to the Commission and another example of fake news.

Good they have spoken out and the very reason I said I will only comment after hearing their own side. I hope it remain as they have said.
ReplyDeleteI believe EFCC on this statement 100%. The Adelekes want to beg for sympathy so using this to catch vote. I was waiting for the dancing senator to be present at the Channel TV chat with gubernatorial candidates yesterday but the man didn’t show up. Abi na fear catch am?
Delete9:52, there's a court case or injunction barring him. That's probably why he wasn't there
DeleteHope they are telling the truth
ReplyDeleteHmmm so if they did not do it, who did it?
ReplyDeleteThe country sef.
Help me ask them
DeleteNobody froze their accounts . All these fake news stuffs were a calculated effort of whipping up sympathy for the Adeleke family and largely the Pdp governorship candidate with the hope of swaying the people of Osun State. Even Dele momodu of Ovation magazine that spread the fake news, promptly apologized when he saw the truth.
Delete"Were calculated efforts", sorry about the error up there.
DeleteNigerian politics is messed up.
ReplyDeleteThose people that knows how to talk will not come and talk on this one because they're disappointed. They thought it was true and could provide them with a new opportunity to discredit and demonize the current government. But when they found out that it wasn't so, they quietly faded away and pretended that this post never happened. Argue or criticize constructively without taking sides, that shows maturity.
