He will be docked on Monday, November 19, 2018, on a 3-count charge having been accused of using his position as a lecturer in the Department of Management and Accounting to demand for sexual benefit from a student and fraudulently upgrade her result in Research Method course which she supposedly failed in 2017.
One of the counts reads, “That you, professor Akindele, on or about the 16th day of September, 2017 at Ile-Ife did corruptly ask for sexual benefits for yourself from Ms. Monica Osagie on account of favour to be afterwards shown to her by you in the discharge of your official duties as a lecturer in the Department of Management and Accounting, Obafemi Awolowo University, to wit; altering her academic grades in the course with code MBA 632- Research Method from fail to pass; and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 8(1)(a)(ii) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.”
Rasheedat Okoduwa, ICPC spokesperson, in a statement on Wednesday, said the 57-year-old professor has asked for plea-bargain having admitted guilt.
“He also cited ill-health as a factor that may make him unable to stand the rigours of prison life, notifying the Commission through his lawyer, Omotayo Alade-Fawole.
“He pleaded that his prayers for plea-bargain be considered, more so as he was already serving punishment for his offence having been sacked by the university”, the statement added.

ReplyDeleteHe was alright if you were clear you were not that time of girl. He struck me as the type who would not force anyone. He was just a regular nice lecturer who was approachable and actually joked with us in class. he was genuinely nice.
This mistake has cost him alot but i pray he has learnt from it and secondly i don't blame the girl who reported this as well.
that's why i always tell people, when you do stuff cos others are doing it you dont know how yours might end.he has learnt a big lesson and i pray more girls have the boldness to speak up against these lecturers. imagine destroying your whole life cos of sex which is a few minutes act. why cant these men just go and pay prostitutes instead of harassing their students..

ReplyDeleteI had one lecturer like that in school. If you tell him 'no', he will accept o and never disturb you again but anytime you need his help, he will never help you. To make matters worst, he was the HOD so if you had a problem that demanded his attention, jus fogerrit, he would walk you out, the moment you opened your mouth.
ReplyDeleteBut one thing about him was, if you passed his course, he won't fail you but those that slept with him, hoping that he would make them pass. Oyo is your case. Some ladies fell victim sha, slept with him, thinking he will make them pass but they failed woefully and started calling the man on phone to embarrass him. It almost broke his marriage and it made him leave my school to another university. I kept telling them that they were not smart. He asked me out and I told him to give me time to think about it. During that "thinking" period, I got close to him and would always ask him several academic questions. I found out he loves intellectual discussions and I was ready to feed that love. In fact, he once gave us a project to write on and I ended up interviewing him (The examiner) and got my materials from him. Surely, I got a B in the course as the man said he doesn't give A's.
All lecturers who ask their students for sex deserve to be disgraced and sacked. They are a disgrace as men and fathers. Seek your pleasure outside the students simple. I know some that were sleeping with cleaners too. OAU had good lecturers cos I went there....just a few bad eggs especially in the social sciences
