Two Kids And Dog Found Dead In Freezer

Residents of Ikorodu in Lagos were on Sunday thrown into mourning when the bodies of two children Emmanuel Edeh 7yrs and Darasimi Edeh 4 yrs and a dog were found in a freezer.

A neighbour who preferred anonymity told NAN that the children, and their father Mr Michael Edeh, were at home on the day of the incident.

“On Sunday afternoon, we were alerted by their father who emerged from within the house asking about the whereabouts of his children.
We were surprise because their father is always at home with the kids when their mother goes about her trading,” the source said.

“So, when their father came asking us (neighbours) about where his children were, we all began to search the neighbourhood for them, but could not find them.”

The source added that when initial efforts to locate the children proved abortive, a call was put through to the mother of the kids, who came running down to their residence.

“Their mother was visibly disturbed upon arrival and immediately began to search for them, this time, in the house,” the source said.
After a while she came wailing that she discovered the lifeless body of children and their dog inside the freezer.”

The children were taken to Briggston Hospital in Selewu, Igbogbo, but were pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident was reported at the Igbogbo police division on Sunday evening.

“It is true that I received a case involving two children, but upon assessment I discovered that they had passed on and there was no resuscitation effort that could be performed on them,” Briggs Umezurike, a doctor said.

“So, I advised the parents to go and conduct an autopsy to ascertain the real cause of death.”

When contacted, Chike Oti, police public relations officer, told NAN that the commissioner of police had been informed about the incident.

“I have confirmed the matter and the CP directed that the father of the deceased be brought to notice to know if there is ulterior motive or whether it is an act of negligence,” he said.

  2. Those kids couldn’t have entered the freezer on their own.
    Someone put them there.

    1. Yeah. Even with the dog. I suspect a foul play. Infact, their father should be held accountable. May their souls rest in piece.

    2. Something isn't right with this story. There is no way a 7 and 4yr old will mistakenly lock themselves in a freezer without screaming for help. The dog too will be barking uncontrollably.
They should ask the father well. They are not babies that won't be able to get themselves out or scream.

  5. Both kids cannot have entered the deep freezer and even if they did, they would have left when it became too cold. The fact that their Dog was also found in the freezer with them shows that it was a murder.

    1. It can't be hide and seek. If it is hide and seek, both children hiding from each other won't be hiding in the freezer at thesame time. Except if they were both hiding from a third person.

  10. May God comfort their parent. The fact that they locked themselves inside that freezer cannot be ruled out. Atimes, kids of today can engage themselves in all these dangerous games, especially when there is no adult in sight to caution their excesses. I have seen a child that was angry and attempted to stay in the fridge so as to seclude himself from his siblings, in his words 'Let me stay on my own'. But there was an adult on standby to caution him. Parents need to be watchful and careful. And above all pray for God's protection. This is really heart break g.

    2. So, the dog was also playing the dangerous game with them right? No kid would want to enter into a freezer with a dog alive abeg.

    1. Maybe they have played like that before and the mom was home and saw it?
It didn’t sound like the freezer was plugged and working. They could’ve been using it as a ‘cupboard’ where they hide..

      Hmmm

      So so so sad

  15. If this isn't a murder case, at the least, it's one of gross negligence by the adult/father in the house at the time of incident. Poor kids and a dog.
