Buhari Appoints New National Population Commission Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday appointed Hassan Bashir as the acting executive chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC).

Bashir’s appointment follows the end of the tenure of Eze Duruiheoma, the former executive chairman of the commission on January 23, 2019.

Director-general of the commission, Ghaji Bello, announced the appointment in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

Bashir is to take charge of activities of the commission pending the appointment of a substantive executive chairman. He is currently the most senior federal commissioner in the National Population Commission. Until his appointment, Hassan Bashir was a federal commissioner representing Bauchi State in the commission.

  1. Of course. They have to remove an "Eze" and appoint a "Bashir" or Audu. What else.
The Eze was there in the first place because the previous governments appointed her.

  6. At this point ehn! I have given up on Buhari. His nepotism stinks, his incompetence is irritating, we do not deserve a pseudo president at this time in Nigeria history. We are really in a political quagmire o because Atiku is not better. Atiku will sell Nigeria to himself for free and collect change.

  11. Seems the "right pegs are now in the right holes" as per the coming elections. Why do pple and institutions use data to misrepresent? Obviously, for certain gains, such as, power and resources control. Una go see how dem go use Naija census/population to promote reelection votes and the aforementioned reasons. Una still dey sidown?
