''Professor Gregory Ibe the Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu just called me now, that he has instructed Gregory University to offer scholarship to the two Abia students that scored highest in Jamb that were denied admission by Unilag, because of their age. One of them is 15 years and he said that there's nothing wrong in starting university at that age, that his first son entered university at 15 in US too. 5. Nice one Sir
Age has nothing to do with one's admission to the university, so far as the student merit's the nesssary requirements for admission,I see no need of denying them admission.

    1. Why then was the form processed if they weren't up to age? The system would have rejected it seeing that the year falls below the required age.

    2. My dear ,age is part of the requirements you are talking about.

  6. Can any Lawyer here tell us more about
the NUC act that stipulates that the
admission age for Nigerian universities is 16?
There seems to be a conflict of legality here.

  14. The gesture is great but maka why? Those boys should not step their foot in any Gregory University pls. They shld defer the admission, do change of school if possible or take Unilag to court and demand their admission.

  16. Maybe this age of a thing for admission depends on the school because my daughter got admitted in one of the federal universities in east at 15 yaers of age.

  17. Hmmmm yet the abroad we copy and all want to migrate to you can’t wbtee Uni at 15. Do you realize you need more than book knowledge maturity is key , 15 years is the original age for JS3 or max SS2.

I agree with you poster. We send children to the university who are jot matured in any way. And can't take good decisions for themselves. And easily manipulated.

      May God help this children.

    2. A 15 years old should still be in high school. All this kids that are not ripe for uni shldnt be sent to one . I would do unilag over any Nigerian private uni though. My personal opinion

  20. Its now the turn of those lads to deny a university. Which one is GUU again? Hearing that name for the first time.

  21. They shouldn't accept if the Uni and course they want to study is not fully accredited. Passing through a glorified sec schoolpassed off as a Uni is worse than not going to Uni so they shouldnt jump at the offer without checking all these.

  22. We have no way of nurturing precocious and highly intelligent kids at early age in this country. Instead of outright denial, Unilag shld have still given admission, but put forward till they are of age, thereby guaranteeing their educational future #thinkingofabetterNigeria

    1. That's it but I don't see anything wrong in going to university @ 15

  23. I'm in support of the denial.....i trust my University of Ibadan, they wont even think twice....At 15 ,a typical Nigeria child lacks the mental and psychological requirements to survive (at his best potentials) in our derailing education system in Nigeria Universities.
