Actress Omoni Oboli Wades Into Viral Rape Saga

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli, has said there were some ‘incoherency’ in the rape allegations levelled against COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo, by wife of singer Timi Dakolo.

Omoni said this on Monday evening while reacting to rape allegation Mrs. Dakolo, Busola that the COZA founder forcefully raped her when she was young.

In her post on Instagram, Omoni said she stands with Busola but that there were some inconsistencies in her claims, which she believed, was born out of ”truthfulness”.

She wrote: “I don’t know where to start concerning the story that’s still unfolding as I write. The Bible warns us to “be quick to hear, be slow to speak, and be slow to wrath”, and going by my personal experience of seeing how quickly many took sides without first getting all the facts, weighing it against the character of all the parties involved, given our antecedents, and then drawing conclusions from evidence and an objective comparative analysis of the accounts, rather than from emotions, envy, the thrill of seeing strife, I have waited to digest the whole matter first.

“What’s her motive for speaking out? Was it just to spite the pastor in question? Was it to destroy his reputation, or gain some financial advantage? Was it to build followership through the scandal that would surely come, not knowing that the pendulum could swing in either direction, for or against her? What exactly would spur a wife of a reputable and beloved entertainer, a mother, a business woman, with a beautiful life, coveted by many, to come out to make this kind of accusation?

“Given her antecedent of being a calm, ‘dramaless’ queen (unless Timi says otherwise), with no history of seeking attention or being overly dramatic (at least not publicly), how did she get to this point of going public at such a time as this simply to make ‘spurious’ accusations against a ‘man of god’, as some have said in a bid to sound ‘objective’?

“I listened to the story, and because I know her husband and his personality, I restrained myself from trying to weigh in based on the emotions that came flooding in, but here’s the thing, there was some incoherency in some of the claims, not because I believe she lied about them, but in my opinion was born out of the truthfulness of the real account.

“ Why do I say that? Because unless you planned your own rape, the accounts are expected to sound incredible and spurious, and I suspect that’s why we don’t have so many convictions in many rape cases.

“Is there a manual, or rapist playbook that’s being distributed to all would-be rape victims (aka all women, and some boys and men) that I missed that gives point by point descriptions.”

She was also trying to bring her own experience with uche jumbo, a very annoying being she is.

    4. It was stated earlier that COZA was paying some influencers to speak in their favor and is one of them!
How come you say u stand with Busola and everything u mention here smell negative? All d motives she mentioned are negative, she never mentioned any positive motive like "finding closure", "protecting other ladies", "justice"

OMONI OBOLI is a big disgrace to womanhood for putting this up!!! She should be ashamed of herself!

Timi was very close to Jon’s ;Could it be it was Timi who leaked the omoni affair with Goodluck Jonathan? The buying of house and car for her husband to keep him quiet?
Is her husband using her handle to revenge d small embarrassment they got indirectly? Omoni did not write this👆.

    6. Please, you guys should read again. She’s saying there is incoherency because there is no manual for rape victims. She’s not attacking Busola, she’s just responding to those trying to puncture holes in her story. Please guys, read what she wrote again. I know it’s a very emotional period right now because most of us can relate to busola’s pain but please, omoni is not attacking her. Look where she wrote “but here’s the thing, there was some incoherency in some of the claims, not because I believe she lied about them, but in my opinion was born out of the truthfulness of the real account“

    8. How can there be coherence please? Who keeps a minute by minute account of her own rape incident with the intention of telling an elaborate and "coherent" recount?
For heaven's sake this unfortunate and traumatic incident is about 20 long years old! Even the Biodun himself would've forgotten about it, little wonder he's vehemently denying it was rape. Omoni you wan add voice, abeg use ya sense first e'hia?

    9. The average Nigerian woman tends to prefer sex by coercion or harassment. I had a conversation about this yesterday and the day before. Ladies, there's no need to say no when you want sex, hoping that he will persist.

Such behaviour perpetuates rape culture. Grow up.#copied

    1. In this case, she conveniently remembered the parts that favoured her narrative, abi? If the facts are vague to a person after donkey years, then why sensationalize a matter, even after an apology (as she claimed) had been rendered? The more I look at it, the more it comes across as a vendetta issue.

Whether you openly or subconsciously doubt a rape survivor, never try to invalidate them unless you intend to sue.

  16. COZA is fighting back. They are now going by their usual play book. 1. Pay celebrities and blogs money to plant little tiny seeds of doubt about the victim and spin positive stories about the rapist 2. Assassinate the victim's character 3. Isolate the victim and strip said victim of any moral support from friends and family and the public 4. Threaten to sue the victim. If that does not work, engineer a public confession/breakdown of rapist asking God for forgiveness 5. Rapist receives counselling from 'elders' and goes to 'rehab' for being a 'sex addict' 6. Redemption and forgiveness. Rapist forgiven and is embraced back into the fold. Victim cast adrift with her reputation in tatters.

  19. no rape story can sound logical to anybody...its either they ask, what where you wearing, why did you follow him there, why where you at that location at that time of the day or other stupid questions....if he forcefully slept with her then that is rape. COZA dog used his position and influence over her to rape her as a minor. why abuse go on for years and people never speak out is cos of factors like victim shaming.. because u have never been raped doesn't give you a righto judge how other women should have reacted. some women believe they have never been raped because they are well behaved or wiser than victims.. omoni shut your stupid mouth and go face your life because if you are truly their friend you will keep all these so called thoughts in your head

    4. All those questions are pertinent, even if it's to establish a pattern regarding incidents of rape, that could help potential victims avoid compromising situations. I don't know why we like to live in denial in this country. To think that up till now, when rape occurs, especially on minors, we're still speculating what was going on in the mind of the rapist. Shdn't some of these things be established by now? Here, we just like to cloud everything with emotions; jettisoning the cold, hard facts. That's why we keep talking endlessly about our problems and making little effort to solve them.

We all know Busola didn't tell the whole truth. It's obvious Biodun had an affair with her. It's commonsense that if Chude and Debola could manipulate Nigerians to vote for Buhari, after collecting hundreds of millions, then Chude and whoever else is involved, are the mastermind of this. This points to a game of power and profit. May the best player win. They are all liars and hypocrites. Don't lose your friendship or waste your lifetime on fugazzi. Enough said.
