Reality Star Cindy Okafor Called Out By Several Clothes Vendors On Instagram

It took one call out for others to call out BBNaija star Cindy Okafor who has allegedly been collecting clothes and shoes from several clothes vendors on Instagram and failing to tag them when she posts photos wearing what she signed to wear.................

There are several of them calling her out and one wonders if so many people can be lying...........

    1. You give a public figure gifts, just for shout out and you don't want to pay for the advert and publicity. So she should wear cloth for free in exchange for shout out.Serves all the vendors right.Ntooor

People that do business on IG are so horrible especially the ones that sell clothes and hair are just outright rude and horrible. If you have less than 300 followers, the way they look down on you ehn.Instead of writing down price on their wall oya Dm for price, they will take ages to reply. Some won't give you the time of the day.And tell 2 different people different prices based on number of followers. And different quality.

Let the so called brand influencers and public figure you rather sell and give attention to, deal with you all.Ntooorrrrr

    1. Lemme drop this here cause you be my person.

Wether she is manipulative or not, I care less but this up there is bussiness and not a case of manipulation.

      1. Instagram is like a second bussiness hub and influencers get paid to advertise ones wares. So yes unique lady and others should pay to get their products on her page and not give a gift and expert an advert.

      2. Some of these influencers and celebs do have a management team that run such accounts and they need to get paid from the proceeds. They wont get paid from any sly gift for cheap advert.

      3. A gift should be what it is a gift and not an excuse to not paying for an advert.

      4. Cindy modeled for the lady and some of these vendors by wearing their clothes and shoes and theh didnt pay her rather they gave her what she wore as gifts. The vendors are meant to take those photos and put on their own page tagging the wearer or they pay the fee for advert.
      5. Unique didnt state if the dress was payment for the modeling or payment for the advert, rather she said it was a gift and a gift it is.

      6. When you pay for a service, it becomes your property, you don't pass it of as if you were the original designer neither are you obliged to put it on your page and tag the person. Even pictures taken professional are not meant to have the photographers stamp of one has paid completely but you are not meant to pass another as the photographer, go and check professional shoots of foreign celebrities where agreements are drawn up you hardly see them tag the photographer let alone the make up artist except that vendor is a celebrity and they want to align with them or better still the vendor paid them to advertise it.
Most of the runway clothes and red carpet clothes are being modelled by the celebrities, some are paid a token by the designer and the clothes are returned. They later get autioned out in stores after a while.

      7. These vendors calling out cindy are just hungry, angry people that dont understand what bussiness is.
You don't call someone out of the blues and say I have a gift for you but you will advertise for me.
The girl only took her gifts for what they are which are gifts and her management handled the rest because the advert is a bussiness. Then the vendor turns around to say if you dont advertise for me ..pay for my shoe and way bill. Then another says, I gave you free clothes. That's nonsense. They gave her a gift and she is not obliged to do a free advert for them. She can only do it free if she choose to but has to pay her management because they take a percentage of deals which is normal being that it's not a salary job.

      8. In this modern day, word of mouth ain't an agreement when it comes to bussiness, they should learn to document things, draw up agreements that should get signed by parties involved.
I can't imagine running an online bussiness as an influence then a vendor sends me a gift and wants me to advertise, damn your product is a gift and if you need to advertise meet my management, one can reduce costs if there is a working arrangement bug definitely not for free because the vendor decided to gift me a product.

      Delete
    2. Agreements can be oral, it doesn't have to be written.Draw up agreement on top how much? I will give you my 10k shoe provided you tag me. Then they will hire a lawyer abi to draft and still pay? Not worth it.

The moment the lady said she was sending her the shoe, she stated the condition, tag me. The honourable thing Cindy would have done is to decline but she was more interested in shoe size and then never acknowledged receiving the shoe.

Then she remembers much later she has a management whilst till holding onto the shoe?? What a classless clown!!!

      Delete
    3. All these long stories na so. It's just simple, if Cindy wants to be made to tag the vendors, she should've said so when they approached her and not to collect cloth, shoes, body shaper, hair and they even did her makeup and renege on their oral agreement.
This is a simple case of integrity which she obviously lacks.

  22. You were given a gift, the least you could do is tag the brand in your pic. This call out is not good for her image at all. Cindy, what do you have to say for yourself?

  27. That was how a mutual friend took Tacha's official pictures at that their BBN reunion on a short deadline. They told him to ensure the pictures to them that same day. New age photography did all of that only for different stories from management, her Manager is TBillz (Tiwa's ex). They posted those pictures without the young and hardworking photographer being aware nor being tagged. He then complained and they told him to choose between 10k and tagging, poor guy chose tagging but till today, it never happened.

Dear Team Tacha, before coming for my head, please remember that you don't build something good by destroying others!

    1. Tell your photographer friend to stop doing free work if s/he is good at the work. Unless s/he is building their portfolio by deliberately doing free work, s/he should collect at least 50% of their fee as deposit upfront and boldly watermark the pictures before allowing the client to see them. Watermark to be removed ONLY AFTER balance has been paid. If not, your friend's talent will waste cos s/he will never get paid. When celebrities want to play a fast one or they don't have money, they go to unknown artisans at the last minute. Can anybody go to BM Pro (for instance) at the last minute and want to pay her with exposure? But that's where they'll go when they have money, no matter how good you (the unknown) are. They already know you're good at the work, which is why they come to you in the first place.

      Delete
    2. Thank God i no be team anyone.

Your mutual friend did a job at the last minute ,he is meant to bill them the price for last minute work and not expect an advert from them.
Tacha or any influencer tagging any vendor either gets paid for it or does it out of their own will.
When you pay for a service ,it becomes yours, Tacha and her people need not tag him ,like wise they should NOT tag another person as the photographer (that becomes intellectual theft) and he is logo and contact is not meant to appear on the pictures because it has being paid for ( go and check even kim K family photos they don tag the photographer). They can only tag him if he didnt get paid and the payment is tachas people advertising him.

Photographers get book a year down the line for professional event shoots ,so theh last minute booking means they should pay heavy. Dazall

  29. For those asking how can she get free product and get paid to mention it, that's actually one of the models of what is known as influencer marketing. It's similar to all those advertisements we used to watch on TV. Like the partnership that L'Oreal has with Eva Longoria, Cheryl, Aishwarya Rai-Bachnan, etc.

I said "similar" because they get PAID to showcase L'Oreal in addition to them getting free products from L'Oreal for however long they agreed. So, yes it is done. But it's dissimilar in that L'Oreal cannot use or publicly be seen anywhere near products or brands that can be seen as a competitor to L'Oreal. So, you can't see any of them near any product or event sponsored by Heads & Shoulders, Nutrisse Garnier, etc. And they're not allowed to do certain things to their hair (like cut or colour) without permission from L'Oreal.

There are many forms of influencer marketing - including what many Nigerians erroneously call "endorsement deals". In the proper sense of it, there's no such thing as an endorsement deal cos of the meaning of the word. Endorsements are positive reviews from people who have used a product or service, whether or not they paid for it. Human beings like to see peer reviews of stuff - from books to fashion items - cos they know these are more likely to be accurate than when a celebrity is fronting the product. For instance, I could have a freer mind to order Beautifu Ennada products cos of what regular people who have bought and used the product, said on the Instagram page. Those are ENDORSEMENTS. I will not use L'Oreal cos I know I'm looking at women whose hair type and texture are different to mine, who are PAID to be AMBASSADORS for that brand. Their hair was already long and silky, which is part of the reason they got those deals in the first place.

Think of what an AMBASSADOR does, is and projects. The Nigerian Ambassador or High Commissioner to Canada, UK, US, etc is HIRED (read as PAID) to represent the President and interests of Nigeria in Canada, UK, US, etc. S/he can't be an ambassador of Ghana for any reason at the same time. In fact, if they have dual citizenship or are already married to a Ghanaian for instance, it will be difficult (if not completely impossible) for them to be hired on their own merits to showcase Nigeria. It'll weaken them. This is why certain kings, business and political leaders allow their children intermarry; if there's a conflict, you will hopefully remember where your children are.

This is why brands normally vet their ambassadors. To be sure that the character and presentation of the ambassador doesn't isolate the intended target market, or send out a message that isn't "on brand".

Which is where many smaller businesses fail when trying influencer marketing. They look at volume instead of value, quantity instead of quality. Terms of engagement and payment (money, products or both) differ but the whole point is for the brand to tap into and profit from the fan base of the influencer. They see someone with 50K+ Instagram and think "Oooh let's offer him/her products to mention us". But:

    1) How many of the 50K are real human beings? People buy followers to deceive brands and the public.
    2) How many of the real followers are your target market? Having a sexy woman as your influencer for bikinis won't work IF her fanbase is 90% middle-aged men who constantly have fantasies of her.
    3) How believable is your collaboration? Unless you want to do magic, what is the point of getting someone like Tonto to be an influencer for Maggi? She has the numbers but she also says she doesn't cook.
    4) Can your brand cope with what the influencer represents as a person?

Equally God the box under the table during Tuface' s party and did't even say anything when they were looking for the box. Those vendors should make sure they collect everything they gave her, if she refuses to tag or pay for them.

  33. Which one is in give you gift for advertisement, they want to fault cindy but to be the are all same and even worse. Next time they should leave a gift at what it is a gift, they should also pay to get advertised and like wise pay the "naija celebrity" to model for them. They shouldn't like hawks hide behind gift expecting the girl to tag them compulsorily it was a gift and she can do what she deems fit with it. They should learn to draw up agreements that this clothes and shoes are payments to get advertised and not gifts. They love cheap particle hence they are all in this mess.

The management is all about bussines so yes no vendor should dash a client shoes not more than 20k hoping to get advertisement slot of 50k.
Cindy too and other celebs should learn to model for these designers and get paid for that service and if the designer wants to give them a gift it should be stated that it is a gift and it is not compulsorily to do a non paid advert.

    ReplyDelete
  34. A lot of people forget that getting tagged in a post is their instagram bussiness/ad ert.

    1. It is not mandatory to tag a gift to who gifted you because one can as well thank them profusely and move the hell on.
    2. No be all gist be gift. These so called gifts are ways these vendors look for cheap publicity ,the vendors should pay those who do advertisement to advertise their goods and stop hoping to get advertised because you gave someone a cloth. The cloth can as well be sold and the money used to advertise ..

    1. Agreement should be kept no matter what applies to others. Starters do a lot of sacrifices just to grow. If the old Instagram influencers collect millions to advertise for people, she should ask them how they got to that level. People dont like to walk before running. If she agreed to tag them, it's more honourable to do so.

    1. There is nothing wicked ...why are they rushing to give gifts by the way if they are not penny wise pound foolish. If they felt her followers are their target population isn't it wise to call the girls management ask for advert fee, pay and get your product out? Than going round giving gifts forming supporters ,then expecting the girl not to make money.

If I were them, pay 50k and put up my post rather giving the person shoe and gown of how much and expecting a favour or rather being entitled expecting one to advertise for me because I gave gift.

      Theh are all not serious.

Unique said the gown is worth 70k..wasnt it better she got the girl to model for her for free and pay the girls management to put up pictures of the girl in unique clothes than giving gift and expecting bussiness post. They are all not well.

    2. Orela, If Cindy is not hungry she should have rejected the gift but no greed won't let her do it.

Stella does free adverts, is she stupid? No. She does it to help struggling entrepreneurs.

State your terms abnitio, The lady said I am sending you a gift so that you can do XYZ. At that point, she should have spoken to her management.

I will give you a wig, tag me. Open your damned mouth and say no. Witchcraft is when you shamelessly collect the wig and go quiet on the person that gave you.
