  2. It's not necessarily whether you save your account number in your phone or not. What they do now is if that number is in the phone is what you use to open they account they will use it to collect all your money from your account. My advice here is that if you misplace your phone for alteast five minutes, call the USSD of your bank and block your account immediately.

    1. I really don't understand this.

So if my phone gets stolen, how would the person know my username and password when it is not stored in my phone. My bank in Naija would even ask a security question before allowing me access to my account. So how are they able to do this?

      I am curious!!!

I know that with debit/credit cards you can shop with the person's details.

    2. don't they need your pin/ code.
I don't have internet banking, all I use for transfer is GTB code *737* and they need my code for that. Even quickteller they still need my pin.
I don't know of mobile banking, don't use it. Another thing I do is I don't leave much money in the two accounts I have. I leave one with like 100k just for emergencies. Then my salary account I use for daily expenses. Any huge mo0ney I get I immediately move to fixed deposit.
so you cant find millions in my account even though I have. If a million enters my account, by mid-day iv moved it.

    3. If you use a USSD shortcode, it's possible.

    4. @Abroadian BV and 12:01, I really don't know the answer to this question. But the truth remains that it is happening and it has happened to Someone i know. The best thing is to use another person's phone and dial the USSD number of your bank and block the account asap. In all may we not fall victim to them at all. Amen

  4. When a relative entered one Chance, sometime this year, his phone was collected from him, he collected someone's phone and called him. I called the banks he was operating with to block his account because his phone and ATM cards were stolen. They did. I gave them only the phone number and his name.

  13. This is why I am neither techy nor savvy, mbok. I need to transact, I go to the back, not even any app. They keep advertising, but I don't care. Two Saturdays ago, about to withdraw, a young lady ahead of me on the queue just started crying helplessly after her turn. According to her, last night, she lost her phone(Friday) and this morning(Saturday), she rushed to check her balance, EVERYTHING was gone. Call me old school, I don't mind, as long as I stay safe in this wicked times. Imagine what would happen to an elderly man or woman, blind etc. People are just wicked.
