  2. This matter started because of Oluwaburna(correct OG).

I'll say, they all hustled their way to the top, if they all they their stories, you'll understand that they weren't lazying around, they worked hard to get to where they are today.

Burna has Felas manual on his palm, and hes following it step by step.

Davido has people writing songs for him.

  11. Fela Kuti..not on the list but invented his own genre of music. Foreigners revere him

William Onyeabor, the father of Afro funk and then King Sunny Ade..Not many people know that KSA turned down the offer to "crossover" in the seventies. He went to Hollywood, did a cameo and then a soundtrack to a Hollywood movie, but he didn't want to becoming "An American".

Back to this list, the closest is Femi Kuti ( by association to Fela) or Tuface Idibia ( when African Queen was used as part of the soundtrack to Phatgirls movie), but we still don't have an Alister, as big as Fela was, or even Black Coffee who has a residency in Las Vegas.

  15. In recent times, I would say Dbanj and Wizkid at least in the UK, which I believe was the place Afro garnered more grounds after it took over the club scenes by surprise, fazing out the grime, skank, dot step and bashment. It was the acceptance in the U.K. that spiralled into the US and European countries. No disrespect to Oga Kuti and Tu baba, because these two are legends.

    1. Phase out which grime?
Grime, pidgin, patwa.. same group.. a lingo..
You get?? It can’t be phased out..

    2. How many artists in the UK are doing grime these days. Those in the mainstream are all doing wavey songs. Hope u don't refer to Krept and Konan, Ambush, Hardy Caprio and the likes as grime arts. Big up Abracadbra and Bugzy Malone who are still trying to keep the grime alive, but their rhythms are not as popular as the wavey songs that get played by djs.
Since the world boss got incarcerated, the rhythms from the Carribean have being trying to survive. Mainstream Arts in the UK are all trying to get that Afro lingo, because its wavey on a max.

  18. It depends on who you ask and when they were born. If you ask those in their 40s upwards, I don't think number 2-8 will come to their mind

  19. For me too,. This Burna Boy or girl is overrated, I don't like anything he sings and he is way too arrogant, he's got nothing to offer, his fall will be epic, human being wey excessive use of drugs no de let am open him mouth to sing and be audible... mtcheww

  20. D bankj and square all the way

  21. I would say Dbanj. He fell out with Don Jazzy because he wanted afro beats to go global.
He made Kanye,Jay Z take notice and others
Oliver twist ruled the charts back then, unfortunately it didn't work out for him as he would have liked but other artists r reaping the benefits

  22. A lot of the international recognition these new generation artists are enjoying now started with Tuface. All the BET,MTV,MOBO etc.Burna boys ignorance and arrogance surprised me.Someone that has been singing since 2012 and God eventually gave him last year to shine. He disappointed me and a lot of his fans I’m sure. How can he say he’s the best after Fela??what kind weed or crack is he smoking?money really changes people sha
