    1. And you think coming online is the best approach? If I were Funke, I will sue her for defamation.
Did she force you to work? Did she not pay your salary? Lazy Nigerian workers, always expecting a free ride at work.
If I were other employers in the industry, will never employ someone like this who goes around running her mouth after she was fired for not delivering on the job.
What is her true aim? To bring down Funke? Jealousy everywhere.
Do you thing it is easy to rise to the top as a woman in that industry without being a workaholic, type A and goal driven. When you go work for someone like that, you know what to expect.
You cannot try this shit abroad, coming out to defame a public figure like this without getting sued. Only an unprofessional place like Nigerian will take this one serious.
Go be Funke now since you’re so hardworking, you think it is easy.

    2. If i were Funke, I will just do Mercy Johnsons style and ignore.
Let her take me to court and we start from there.
      Rada rada 😏.

    3. Note to every employer in the entertainment industry, make sure your employees sign defamation clause before employment. Your public image is part of your brand and cannot let any sore grape tarnish it like that.
Enforce it if broken, that will teach them to keep work place itch to themselves because this seems to be happening too often.

    4. Exactly what she said. She said Funke believed her fans will not believe her story and of course this is playing out. And this is actually what is giving her more power to do this evil. Please this is my opinion o.

    5. May you all never find yourself in the same predicament as the lady. You all are pretending as if you don't know how many Nigerians treat their staff. And please stop playing the woman's card. A bad person is a bad person irrespective of the gender.

    6. @Anonymous 12:30, that is a gag on freedom of expression. Even if you insert that clause the courts would not uphold it. It is contrary to public policy. That would be tantamount to engendering slavery.

This woman show everyone babies on her Instagram pages but refused to show her own babies faces. Even beyonce showed her baby but she doesn't trust the fans that fight for her every day with her children faces. She has skeletons in her cupboard

What does Funke's husband have to do with you or the matter at hand that you had to bring him in?

Any employer of labour who has worked to build a brand from scrath can only laugh at such yeye accusations from any employee.

Go and treat your staff as you deem fit and leave others to theirs. Or is there anywhere she stated that her salary wasn't paid?

Radarad oshi. You think to be successful at what you do has to do with sentiments or emotions. It's people like you that spend your employer's time watching youtube!!

    9. Why would this employee be watching TV on duty though?

First of all, you can sought your issues out with your employer without this drama...what is wrong with my naija folks? You are too quick to come online when an actress or actor employer is involved.

How many of you call the big companies out on social media, who also make your lives a hellish and even owe you for months..how many? That's what I thought.

Let's stop this hate, jealousy and hunger to trend.
Lady please if you think your employer is treating you bad, why ko resign, it takes 3 lines or less to write a resignation letter mehn!

Who needs tv during working ours

      Delete
  8. I wouldn't blame Funke because Nigerians have poor work ethic, it is not unusual to see people watching TV/playing with their phone during work hours. During work hours, except for lunch break, you shouldn't be doing anything else but work. However, it is best to use motivation methods, instead of force. They may never adopt your work ethic; the vision is yours, most employees are just working for a pay check. On the flip side, for the employee, you can and should resign from any unfavorable or harsh work conditions.

From what this lady has written, and as a Nigerian Entrepreneur,I can tell you the average employee doesn't want to work. If you aren't careful, you'll be paying for activity as against results. Despite the time people spent at home during the lockdown, upon resumption, they were looking forward to the next public holiday.

Please if you are a Nigerian employer reading this-your employees are those who drive your business. If you don't handle your vehicle properly, it doesn't deliver. Same way your employees. 18. I don't know funke and I am not really a fan of these artists but the truth is, most of them are perfectionist. They have type A personality and that is how most of them got to where they are today. They Are like praying mantis who work round the clock and don't sleep and they feel every one should be like them. Even beyonce's workers once complained though jokingly about how beyonce hasn't allowed them sleep for 72 hours on a stretch when she came over to work for her. She stylishly said it while laughing but you could see the pain in her eyes while complaining of lack of sleep and beyonce not letting them eat or sit down and all of that during long hours. That is how they are. All of them

    1. Gbamsolutely! Success-driven personalities. You can see it from their outputs. Beyonce really works round the clock and she has said it that if she doesn't sleep no one else will sleep. Her destiny child colleagues complained, that even when Matthew gave them holiday, Beyonce stayed working! She went for a 2week holiday and came back with an album. Funke is similar. They both worked all their lives, from childhood. They see anything less as laziness. Level up or fall out.

  21. Despite the fact that I don't support her calling funke out like this. Employers know that your employees are humans too, yes they are your beck and call , they do the work, you pay them etc sometimes they toil from morning to night bringing in "millions" for you. Find it in your heart to be a little humane. Some of them have other responsibilities, some are homeless and squatters, some can barely feed after expenses. Yet they toil on day and night just to make ends meet. Think if you are in their shoes. Some day the tail might be the head. The world goes round.

Don't be the kind of employer that leaves your ex-staff depressed and empty after working wholeheartedly for you. No one knows tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't doubt this girl, for Funke to be as successful as she is she had to be very tough in her business infact bordering on ruthless. I am not suprised. It is the same thing I think I heard Mo Abudu does, that she is also a mean boss and she steps on toes. To be a very successful business woman in Nigeria especially the entertainment industry requires some elements of harshness and making people slave off their asses for you to rise the ranks. I am sure one day we would hear Ms Wanneka is harsh to her staff, but nobody sees all the work she puts to promote the business.
What Funke Akindele did isn't good, It is very horrible but I guess she is left with no other option because of the Nigerian business terrain.
I believe people who work for her should not plan to stay long in her employ because she will use you like rag.
Make God help Nigeria and may God allow correct labour laws to be enforced in Nigeria.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Most private employer will use and over use their employees under the disguise of working hard. It's this bad because there are no jobs out there so you tend to take whatever shit they throw at you. Funke, treat your workers right. They know alot about you and can easily snitch on you.

  24. Funke is a workaholic and she's someone that doesn't condone laziness of any type. Her works speaks for her. Many times I hear people say Nigerians misuse the opportunities they have especially when you "play" with them.
Someone told me that some places in Dubai don't employ Nigerians but other African nations like Cameroon and Uganda cause they focus on their work and never miss work with pleasure.

Please believe this lady in the video because it takes a lot to come out and speak about bad experiences most especially with funke.

The way she emotionally and mentally abuses you alone it will so drain you, you wouldn’t know how to or when to say enough is enough

Funke is MEAN and belittles people, or ember vividly a project that reqquired working closely with her, ahhhh gosh I would cry a lot whenever I had a chance to be alone, I see a lot of her fans saying “funke can do no wrong my eyes” but I can bet you that this same fans if they were to be in this lady’s shoes will say worse, they wouldn’t be able to cope,

I remember when she was also scheduled for a particular appearance, some of the team that came in contact with her had nothing good to say about her. I just want to implore more people to speak up so that her FANS will know that it isn’t a joke.

  36. Sounds like a disgruntled employee but let me give her the benefit of doubt and assume she's telling the truth.

    1. In any organisation, should you be watching TV during work hours? I mean well, she said tv helps creativity but did she tell funke that watching TV when she's meant to be working is how she becomes creative? I'm sure she would have stated having an imaginary and creative mind.

    2. Should you be chatting on your phone or taking personal calls during work hours?

I'm a civil servant and I run a business, I don't chat on my phone or make useless calls during work hours. My family and friends know and won't contact me unless there's an emergency.

In my business my staff knows my policy about that, you can be serving customers and talking on your phone while making them wait. I work on the shop floor with them but I don't do these things and I don't expect my staff to.

I don't know Funke Akindele personally but I know actresses are the opposite of what they portray in real life. Being humble courteous doesn't hurt anyone but no one is infallible.

Research has shown that most comedians are sad and depressed people, you wonder how that's possible because they make you laugh. We also know the personal struggles Funke went through, so her bubbly happy personality might just be for the camera and she might switch off after that, I can't say.

I just don't know how you expect the public to support you because you were not allowed to watch TV and use phones basically slacking off at work. Interesting that she stated she has lost another job due to Funke's influence. I will say why not think of your attitude and what you are doing wrong that is making you lose jobs instead of dispersing blame?

You signed a contract of the number of hours per day but they always want to keep you for extra hours without pay because they pay you salary. People saying Nigerians have poor work ethic just want to support their fave if this allegation is true. i had to resign before i will be tempted to do something nasty. when i left one of his workers almost beat him up. Do not make people feel worthless for working with you, if you feel you are not getting value for the money being paid to them, relieve them of their duties than the constant talking down and all. just like my present LM nobody in the Team is ever good in her eyes and i have stopped stressing myself cos that one if she ever owns a business her employees will see hell every damn day.

  38. You would probably feel more fulfilled telling this to her face. Call her out to her face. That’s the best revenge for bullies. The public calling out has a limited effect. To what end na? Surviving bla bla. Shior!

Funke has only got to this level with all of these fans because she works her ass off and is talented. Period. She must work really hard and this hard work is what sets people like her apart. Women are always labelled as being bossy, arrogant and whatever else when they are in charge. One comment even listed some female actors as horrible employers, how come none were male? Imagine the many hats Funke and many women like her are wearing.

If she did treat you badly, it’s not fair but stay focused and go out there and become a boss. God has your back.

  40. Seems some people are out to destroy Funke Akindele and her brand. Yes, Nigerian employers especially the 'humble, hardworking and successful' females are unapologetic slave drivers. But the truth is, if one is paid to work, be there to work whether being supervised or not. As a creative, burnouts is part of it and there is need to take a break/ distraction which can be anyway one chooses depending on the employer/organizations-facebook, phone video, call, chats, eating etc. If the staff feels the employer is supervising rudely or in a wrong way, there are ways around this to communicate one's feelings. In this case, this is not the first time someone is running Funke down which means there may be elements of truth in it, but that is who Funke is and how she works.Hence the best thing to do is to approach her when she is in a lighter mood or go through someone close to her. What will you gain by defaming her like this? You loose more because hardly would anyone want to employ you once they know you watch T.V, do facebook etc during your productive hours and then go on to assassinate their character afterwards. Young woman, be guided and retrace your steps. No one forced you to work for a 'STAR.' Most people only see the glory of these entertainers and think it's fun but don't know they work hard to get to where they are and must work extra hard to maintain the success. There are also opportunities superior to the stipends/salary earned from working for anyone. Much more, work refines and what you become is more superior than the salary. Young people, go learn some ethics and bend down indeed, work never kills. And t.v, social media etc can be done during free time not work hours all the time, please.

  44. This employer/employee relationship is a two way something and the bulk of the blame should go to our laws and the system.
Some employers are employers from the pit of hell same with employees.
This is mostly seen in one man business and the truth is most people complaining will do same when they become employers. In this country we don't regard mental health or emotional state of mind. Most of these private businesses, the personality of the boss is what you get. Most of these bosses shouting laziness will pay you 10k and you will work out 200k plus abuse. Let's take lawfirms for example, most of the bosses are heartless. They pay as low as 20,10,30k in Lagos oo, you will close by 6pm. Sometimes you will work till past six, they don't pay court appearance, nothing. Now I am talking about small firms, big firms can pay like 100k,80k,150 but you are working till 10pm. Some work overnight. I thought it was wickedness until I realized that it's a trend. Those law bosses also went through hell and are putting people through hell. Imagine studying in a private university, paying all that millions to come out to no job or a 30k job.its crazy
People talking about work ethics, I laugh. Do employers have work ethics?many of them don't. They employ you for A but you end up doing A-G for them, work late hours without extra pay, send you on errands here and there which has nothing with your job, don't pay salaries as when due, abuse you constantly according to their moods. Some employees on the other hand are really silly. Imagine I earn 70k and pay 30k to you as a nanny that means I am practically working for you just for you to eat and watch TV in my house. Most of these peeps like Funke work their asses out to be where they are so it's equally very hard even extremely hard for them. But then if she really does slap and the rest, that's a No No absolute no

    1. That LAW own is the worst cos it's a professional course. You're right the stress and fees in university is not worth the salary at all. I have lawyer friends. Was shocked when I graduated and heard their salaries oh, as in whaaaat? 20k, 30k in Lagos? Paid by SANs oh. But in this case, the lady is a screenwriter, and if she is good, she can always leave and find other producers. It's not wise to burn bridges unnecessarily since she may need Funke's recommendation for bigger jobs. That TV part spoilt her call-out.

    2. Anon 17:07, you can ask your lawyer friends, the pay is part one of the suffering, the ill treatment one goes through is another thing. I personally feel law as a professional course is overrated because people feel that once you are a lawyer, all is well with you. From expensive school fees, studying hard, lawschool, 6 years dedicated in school, it's really heartbreaking. The worst part is that no job. You will waka round and about even begging to work for free for experience sef. The situation is terrible. Imagine going through all that and setting up your own, that's why they are brutal, pay very little because most of those SANS started off with no pay. They worked their ass and blood to be where they are. They will make you work and work yet no tangible pay. I know a SAN that his secretaries died back to back because of everytime work. Resume 7am close by 10pm on top chicken pay. Such heartlessness.
Law should be rated like everyother course as far as reality is concerned. The girl calling Funke out should just move on. She may even be worse as a boss. Sometimes these things push us to become bosses too

    3. Oh no, my dear I've heard cos I have lawyer friends. Some have dropped their wigs and joined the hair and makeup industry. Stella I suggest maybe you can start a segment on courses/fields of study in Nigeria so people can discuss their experiences and young ones can be informed on what course to study via pay, passion, job satisfaction and so on. I would love to hear more about the Law experience, medical, etc

It is so unfortunate we don't have strong Labour laws in our society.
There are ways you can still handle your staff to get your job done.

At the end of all these all is still Vanity!!!!

    1. This is exactly what I was about to type. Are there not strong labour laws to protect the rights of workers? Is there not a guild for writers in entertainment to protect them? People need protection from employers who are slave drivers.

  47. am shocked at the kind of comments i read here. we envy civilised societies but do not know that alot of the things they enjoy have been fought for. there are rules of engagment in every thing and we must do the right thing which should be a balance of proffessionalism and also not taking away basic rights of the people/person. we operate in a society where rules are not properly laid down or written out before engaging staff, but does that need to continue? did funke properly spell out what is expected of them before they started? yes it is her business and she employed them to write but can her methods of ensuring discipline work for everybody? does it consider people who might have a problem with clinical depression and her methods make it worse? do we have a right to silence anybody from speaking their truth? so because only 2 people came out to complain we assume they are wrong? we all know nigerians do not encourage people speaking out and they will always see you as a bad person but the truth is that only you know how an experience made you feel and only you can say your truth. i used to be in the entertainment industry way back from unijos and did a long running production as i was a student of theatre arts. i remember when i first came to lagos and got a script and asked the director a few questions.his response to me was "you dis jos people una think say una too sabi everything". i just wanted to clarify stuff and he felt iwas being too forward or doing oversabi. sadly alot has not changed since then though i have long left that industry. alot of these producers play on the fact that people are desperate and because they are managing money they need to do things a certain way. labour laws in the entertainment industry needs to be strenghtened to achieve a balance. this is the same kind of issues that have been playing out between artist and managers because agreements and grey areas are never properly outlined or understood. she has spoken her experience and should not be vilified. let funke defend herself too. that alot of people do something does not make it right. i personally do not know funke or this lady so let them speak, the truth will always show its head at last
