Lai Mohammed made this assertion while leading a delegation of the Federal Government to the South East to meet with leaders of the region.
According to the Minister, the so-called massacre was mere fake news only propagated on social media meant to discredit the government.
While addressing his audience which comprised of the Enugu State governor, traditional and religious leaders at the Enugu Government House; Lai Mohammed said that investigations have revealed that no protester was killed at the Toll Gate.
“There was no massacre at the Lekki Toll Gate. The only massacre that took place during the EndSARS protest was the social media massacre.
“Fake news was used; they used social media to spread what did not happen; which led to reprisals.”
Lai Mohammed further reiterated the FG’s stand that social media must be regulated, stressing “the Federal Government had warned about fake news as far back as 2017; we launched a national campaign against fake news because we foresaw this. Fake news kills more than any pandemic.
“There must be social media regulation. But social media regulation does not mean stifling the media; it does not mean shutting down social media; it means responsive use of social media. Fake news can shake the cause of the world.”

First it was reported that 78 people died, then 43 and days later 15 or 16. Let's even agree that 16 people died, three weeks later and you've not been able to provide family members of three of the deceased? They don't have friends or colleagues? All we keep seeing are fake stories of people who reportedly died at Lekki Toll Gate which all later turned out untrue. Fake stories being promoted and circulated by those who staged the fake Massacre. DJ switch even claimed that she took 16 dead bodies to the feet of the soldiers. Soldiers that allegedly came to Massacre you and that you were recording a live video close to them yet you don't have video evidence for such claim. Yet she is still alive after recording a video close to soldiers who came to Massacre you!

Obviously, the oldies that we want out of power are way smarter and will keep staying in power since Nigerian Youths no get sense. ReplyDeleteNote: I'm not a supported of this present government and we are yet to see all the evidence but to be fair,more of what happened that night was exaggerated. I'm not saying people didn't died but they can't cover up the death of 80 people. the governor didn't handle the situation well enough.
I wonder why people are silent with the killings/shooting in Mushin and some other places during the uproar. May God bless Nigeria!
