JULIANAS OPINION
Praying for the Dead

I keep hearing people say, that praying for your departed ones will not change their situation in the after world. Then I ask who told you that? Have you been dead before or did God tell you that the prayers are in vain. I just don't get it, praying for the dead is not a sin and some people use the medium to find closure and also console themselves. It is better you pray and find out when you die that the said prayer didn't make any difference than to not pray for your departed loved ones and die then realise that your prayer would have made a lot of differences.

This my write up is not in anyway encouraging sinners, to continue in their sinful ways with the promise of being saved by peoples prayers after they die. Better repent now that you are alive, because you might not have anyone praying for you after you die. People know who to pray for, if you were a bad person while alive a lot of people will rejoice at your death so do the needful.

An encounter I had made realise that we cannot make conclusions on matters we haven't experienced. After my step grandmother died, I felt bad for not attending her funeral, so in other to make it up to her. I went and booked Mass for her in the church, Catholics here will understand what I mean. After booking the mass I didn't give a thought to it till I went to bed.

I dreamt about my step grandmother that night. In the dream l was in her kitchen with her chatting, as we usually do when she was alive. But I noticed something different, she smelled so lovely that I was wondering why she has such sweet smell around her. It is a smell I have never perceived in my life. It was beautiful and calming, I woke up wondering why I had such dream because I have never dreamt about her and after that one time it has not happened again no matter how much I think about her. I believed that, that was her way of saying thank you to me for booking Mass for her.

So I will advise you to pray for your departed loved ones then leave everything in God's hands whichever way, it does not remove anything from you.

So instead of concentrating on praying for people that are alive, you suggest people pray for the dead?Wow,everyone has a different opinion about this and it never occurred to me that the dead would need prayers since the bible says that when they die they become dust.......

IJEOMAS GIST CONTINUED FROM TUESDAY IN HOUSE NEWS

One morning, we saw unknown faces drive into our compound (ghen ghen, shebi we talk am sey this boy go bring our legs outside), three men and a lady walked towards us and requested to see 'the man that does spiritual works', our hearts were still beating fast when the lady said she brought her husband (pointing at him) to see the man that helped her get pregnant, choi our hearts come down.

Thank God mom was not home that day. My bro who already ran to the back of the house to hideπŸ˜‚ when he first saw them approaching, came out of his hiding place and greeted them. My good people of SDK, we no know sey na 'thanksgiving' dem come do so, her husband went back to their car and offloaded all the goodies they came with including fowls(hei, inside our hearts, we started dragging who'll wash bro's clothes cos him no dey our level again).

When they left, everyone including bro started laughing cos we knew was not responsible for the pregnancy, God just remembered the lady. Big sis bought a special plate for him(something she'll never do on a normal day) and we even took turns in serving him, who wan carry last naπŸ˜‚.

When he saw that his 'tricks' payed off, he decided to upgrade his works, this time he takes his victims to the village stream for rituals(oga went to partner with mami water no🚢).....story for another day

    2. Aunty Proposed. Congratulations ma. This ur question is very tricky o! It obviously shows that you both barely knew each other well. Not like saying u HV to date or know all about a person before u accept his ring.

Giving a time frame to study each other is also one kind. As a social thinker! Human being is the least thing to study on earth! The moment they know they are being studied they tend to pretend. You can't consciously study someone! You just have to let it flow, let every go naturally.

Just breathe and take your time OK! Don't rush. If u feel u need more time, keep it within u both and be sure of wat u want just relax OK. Nobody is rushing u to post on social media! U can always post anytime.

      Goodluck

  12. Please check out Jesus's teaching on LAZARUS AND THE RICH MAN concerning afterlife.

Luke 16:19 “There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

    6. YayyyπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ onions has been dethroned, you can buy in bulk if you have where to spread it out, that way you will enjoy it for a long time before the pri e increases.

As for tomatoes now also is the time to buy and store even without freezer. Blend the tomatoes, boil it and strain/filtered remove the water content, then put in big size bama bottles, cover. Then pour water in a big pot and put the bama bottles in the pot, pour water in the pot and bring to a boil. Store them somewhere and voila you have tomatoes that can last fresh for o e year without freezer. Once you open any of them, make sure you use all or you bring it out from the glass bottle, transfer into something you can use to store it in the freezer. Once u open and cover back, that one will go bad ASAP

Then live your life in Christ so that you will have the opportunity of meeting the person again when you leave this world, if she died a Christian. that is the faith of a Christian.

Like, you don't know what you want or how you want your home, marriage and man to be or how he should treat you? Issues like this i think are usually personal so i don't think you need people's opinions. (we don't even know this man, neither do we know how you guys started) i might be wrong though. I hope you get the right answers, and i wish you best of luck πŸ€—πŸŒΉπŸŒΉ.

  26. "How do I treat high progesterone please? Been TTC after a stillbirth"

Sis, consultation is key. Please get proper treatment cos high progesterone is best diagnosed by a medical practitioner. That's because it's not just about your progesterone level..your estrogen level should also be on par.

Normally, you won't experience high progesterone symptoms if your estrogen level is balanced with it. There's no such thing as too much progesterone as long as both your progesterone and estrogen level are balanced. You even need high progesterone to conceive in the first place..

Meanwhile, cut down on caffeinated beverages and carbohydrates. I replace sodas with healthy smoothies when I was ttc. Switch up your diet if possible and reduce stress. So sorry about the stillbirth, you will carry your babies soon. ❤ xx

  36. I can't write in detail now but will do so with some references from the Bible when I am chance about prayers said on departed loved ones. To you it may not change anything but again, you are not God. Before I stop, let me drop this verse and will write in details some other time.

    Zechariah 3:4

"l said to those who were standing before him, "Take off his filthy clothes." Then he said to Joshua, "See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you." You can read up from verse one to understand the argument that ensued between the devil and the Angel before the throne of Mercy.

So yes! even in death, one can still be shown mercy by God.

  37. Discussion topics for courtship

If this man has proposed, it means you knew and interacted with him as "friends" for sometime. If you have accepted, there are no barriers in terms of discussion ONLY. So ...

    For me, I courted for 4 years courtship without sex; we just did not go there. There were a lot to discuss like;

    1. Our careers; levels and who goes first for this and that degrees
    2. Our finances; joint account with either to sign/taking care of our respective parents/ which relatives to admit and take up responsibility and which not to etc.
    3. Our kids/ number (gender matters interference or not), discipline (he knew how to do it; my weakest point), schooling/fees etc.
    4. Scriptures/prayers/fasting (fixed and did it together): Church denominational issues trashed; we should attend any but together etc.
    5. Wedding; non denominational (had to bring the two families together), low key (invest the money instead of lavishing it in a day on frivolities)/ attires (no need buying an exorbitant wedding dress from UK and having it as a liability afterwards), we still reap the dividends from the savings from our wedding.

Really, we discussed a lot and we keep on discussing. We rarely had enough time each time we went out on a date. We do not remember sex and we really did not want to do it and appear hypocritical to ourselves and all. More than ten years of marital journey and with kids; I've got peace, lots of love and trust. If you tell me that you tell me that my husband was with a lady, I will laugh you to scorn. Is it not the same man who for 4 years was with me in the most secure and secluded of places and never attempted to undress me? The trust is mutual and we enjoy a very beautiful sex life. Marriage is beautiful if you plan it with God and stay resolved.

  43. @Juliana's opinion, you don't need to die before knowing that you don't pray for the dead. The bible tells you so, every prayer one needs is when he/she is alive. So Channel your praying energy rightly.

    1. 2 Timothy 1:16-18

"May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.

On the contrary, when he was in Rome, he searched hard for me until he found me.

May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day! You know very well in how many ways he helped me in Ephesus."

Take note of the last verse. This was Paul's prayer for his good friend. We shouldn't be hypocritical on this. If we condemn prayers for the dead, why then do we take our dead ones to the church before burial? Shouldn't we have taken them to the village and bury them straight without church service? If prayers for the dead are nothing, then what do officiating ministers do to corpse brought to the church on burial day?

  44. My late grandma never stopped visiting in my dream. At first it wasn't weird cos we gist like she's alive. 14yrs after it didn't stop I deemed it to be weird, so I opened up to my family about it. My dad mentioned to book a mass for her. Fortunately is the month for 'All Souls' catholics will know.
I booked the mass and everyone attended. It's 4 yrs now since I did that. She's stopped coming to my dream. Therefore, I think praying for the dead works.

  45. Finances: you both need to talk about your finances, how often do you guys intend to save, savings is very essential in marriage. (Daily, weekly or monthly)talk about it so as to know which would be convenient for both of you.

The number of kids you both would like to have.

    Talk about your favourites(favourite food,colour e.t.c)

(Well he proposed,so that means he must have built a house or rented one....whatever the case maybe, talk about accommodation for clarity.

Talk about your pet peeves(me for example;I don't sleep with the lights on and I like buying my foodstuff in bulk,I hate retail)things like these are neglected in the course of courtship;I'm certain you're the type that does not like to see dirty clothes and briefs stashed in the corners of the room,or probably your husband to be comes back from work, remove his pant and shirt and place them on the sofa, whilst talking about these, you should also have it in mind what to do to avoid these...e.g get a laundry basket and all.i remembered the chronicle of a woman i read here, apparently, her husband doesn't flush the loo after use,he doesn't wash his butt as well.I could remember the woman said he stains the bedsheet with sh**.....yuck.Abeg madam talk about it now that's it's not late........things like these can break a marriage.

If you're the working class woman, take advantage of this courtship and talk about it.Some guys just feel they can halt some aspect of your life just because they married you.If you're the type that'd like to keep working after your wedding..... Biko tell him ooo.

Ask him if he doesn't have a love child.

And please make sure you're not the only one talking, both of you need to SORO SOKE.

Wishing you a blissful and happy union filled with enjoyment and not endurement😘.

  46. @Juliana's opinion.

Thank God its your opinion. So here are my questions.
    1. Who are you praying to?? God.
    2. Did He ask you to pray for the dead?? No.

Heb 9:27 KJV And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Pray for them while they are still alive. Once dead... 🀷‍♀️🀷‍♀️🀷‍♀️ If you believe otherwise, give us biblical backings(if you are a Christian)

So also those praying to God via names and mediums not prescribed by scriptures. (I'm talking to Christians)

    Questions:
How did you find your faith? Describe that situations that happened which made you question or strengthen your faith. How is your prayer life? Agreements on fixed fasting, regular vigils, scheduling of Bible reading, Engaging in charitable deeds together, visiting hospitals or prisons getting to God and touching lives together. If that is what you like will he be there to support you or pull you down?

Respecting each other's hobbies and interests. If you like travelling, sightseeing or adventure how many times will you travel as a family in a year?

Do you believe in spanking kids or talking to them or a little bit of both? How do you intend to bring them up in God's way?

Are you addicted to anything? Porn, masturbation, gambling, drugs etc. Are you still neck-deep or have gotten out? How did you gain the victory over it?

Do have accrued debts or loans that needs urgent attention?

Do you believe in an egalitarian marriage or feel traditional gender roles are best suited for a lasting union?

    Intimate wedding or elaborate one?

Having relatives over for regular/ rare visits?

Household chores. Who does the vacuuming, cooking, gardening depending on the mode of marriage you employ? Or his he comfortable with having house-helps in the house?

Are you on any medication? Do you have any health challenges? Sexual perversion?

What are his thoughts on women having caesarean sections and surrogacy? Your view on adoption?

Prenup or postnup? His opinion on it. Would he like you guys to have one before marriage or after?

Joint or separate accounts? My/your phone or our phones? Any restrictions on objects and gadgets in the house?

Mind you, you might discuss all these and due to reasons beyond your control plans changes. Just make sure you are getting married to a very transparent man who has a true fear of God and doesn't have an issue with compromise. I also think you should know yourself better to have a better understanding of the questions you ought to ask. Important questions relating to your future should come to you naturally else it seems you do not know what you want or not emotionally ready to be married. You have a lot to talk about and it won't even happen mechanically. These few questions I gave can be likened to a few cups of water taken out of the vast ocean. Just have a good rapport with your man and see those important questions come through with ease.

Phoenix, where are you? She wouldn't mind responding to this if she was around but where is she by the way?

    Forgive any typos.

  51. Please if you have an online job that you are doing from home and your boss ask you to come for a meeting in another state, is it wrong to ask for travelling allowance?

My boss asked me to report at our Abeokuta office next week for some briefing and I asked him for t.fare and he told me it'll be deducted from my salary. I told him it's official duties so I should be given travelling allowance, he said I should not bother coming that we'll do the meeting online then. Pls have I done anything wrong?

  58. Getting your act together require a deep Level of honesty with yourself... You gotta be able to look yourself in the mirror... And be willing to accept flaws and behaviour that's not allowing you to grow...self evaluation is difficult but it's necessary. With the right mindset, determination and faith in God we can achieve anything and everything.
