Nigerian Idol Judge Seyi-Shay And What She Told Contestant That Went Viral...

Seyi Shay is One of the Judges Of Nigerian Idol season 6 and since today she has been under attack for telling one of the contestant ''her truth'' after he sang a song that Seyi was unsatisfied with....

Seyi Shay To Contestant after performance:

“One thing is the fact that I just can’t believe what I just heard. Who told you to come here?

Contestant To Seyi Shay: I was nervous

Seyi Shay To Contestant: No, wait. Some body lied to you, someone told you to come here and audition and you need to go back and tell that person that they are not your friend. Cause that was not a good audition. You have a sweet talking voice and it comes out in your singing voice but your performance was terrible. You are never going to make money being a singer.

I love you, you are so sweet but you are not a singer, you are not a singer, after this, hit me up, we will talk but that singing thing is not gonna work okay.”

*I have heard Idol Judges all over the World say worse.......
What is wrong with some Nigerians? Why are they slamming her for saying what she said? There are too many Jobless people on the Internet!!!

    1. I watched it. Immediately the boy came up, I was like "what is a 17yr old doing here"? From his appearance you will see he lacks confidence.

Seyi said nothing bad in my opinion.

  2. Understand the concept of stage fright and being nervous then you would know why she needed not to be harsh at that point.

She was a tad bit harsh but it is normal for some judges to harsh. What about Bebe ( not sure of her name) of project game.

  10. The fact that Simon Cowell and other judges say worse things doesn't make it right. We don't applaud them when they say those things, we won't applaud Seyi too.
And this is a teenager were talking about here. How can you say such wicked words to a 17 year old?

  12. She lacks emotional intelligence.
Because you can run your mouth on TV uncontrollably in the name of judging dsnt mean you get a bitch pass on SM. Even Simon Cowell still gets schooled on the streets.
The reason she's being dragged is bc the boy in particular wasn't so bad. He was nervous and need a bit of training if you watch the video well. She dragged the guy uneccesarily.

  13. Stella you know sometimes you can be harsh too that's why you don't see anything wrong with what she said. I condemn what she said because some people are not emotionally strong this could lead to so many things and then depression then suicide. Lets learn to be kind with our words sometimes but driving home our criticism in a more compassionate way. Must the judges be harsh who said its a must? Is it not the some motivational speakers or whatever that said correct with love? Abegi.

  17. See Joke Silver, I can't remember one talent show she was a judge in, you can't just but love her.

Even when she is not impressed with the contestant's performance, she will find a way to lovingly tell you so without smatching the person's esteem.

We can't always be brutal and say things vaaa as it comes to mind.

    1. Project Fame. Now that's a woman who understands how frail the human confidence can be when it's under intense scrutiny and will do everything in her power to ensure it's not shattered.

      Delete
    2. In project fame, you have people that have scaled that weeding out stage and they are getting reviews from ther coaches.
I am sure, when they all auditioned, they had people go through same.
      This boy can't sing.
Such programs are not meant for you to go and develope talent or get trained, you showcase your talent and it gets fine-tuned.

This young man should have gotten a voice training. His notes are like a cocktail of notes flying about and he is trying numerous ranges and canteen hit one on target.
Maybe seyi laughter was off and knowing Nigerians with sentiments...that boy for now can't sing...with good coaching he will do great.

  20. Seyi was rude and condescending to that young man. Why didn't she use constructive criticism? Why bring his friends into it?

    ReplyDelete
  21. ...Well people might say Seyi was a bit harsh, given the circumstance and the age of the boy... I haven't watched it yet, I can't say anything on that.

However what will plainly be lies, (been seeing lots of attack on her person on social media) is attack her singing prowess. That woman's vocals is one of the best we have in this country, as far as I am concerned. She doesn't get enough accolades due her, I must confess.

  22. Burna boy, Davido, Wizkid, Zlatan etc remind me of their voice again? My only issue with her statement is telling him he won't make money in music. Simon Cowell is brutally blunt but he doesn't shatter whatever dream you have outside the show.

  23. Seyi is an envious person, this show just confirmed it. She lets raw talents slip off, I think she feels intimidated these talents. But on this case the guy is not so good, her judgement was harsh

  24. "You are never going to make money from being a singer" Is Seyi God? She sounds like a witch
One of these singers i don't know if it Was Shakira or lady gaga music teacher said she sounded like a goat.... Well that goat has hit it big time. Taste your words before you spit them out.

  25. I've been watching this season of Nigerian idol and I think Seyi Shay an awesome singer, permit me to say, is a bit too harsh in her criticism. Apart from this issue trending, last time I watched the show, she threw a shade on a girl that auditioned; that her voice will only be good in singing Igbo songs like 'ladder ladder ladder.' Now that was too harsh and not encouraging. She should learn constructive criticism. She acknowledges nice performances and good voices, I must confess.
