  4. Very serious problem in the South. Someone who never enjoyed your 500k while alive will be buried with millions. Most of them just do the burial ceremony to show off to their contemporaries how rich they are.

  5. If everyone was like me people will stop cooking at burials because overtime they will stop cooking as I do not eat burial food.
So many cheap lands some people have bought was because of an "emergency" sale so as to bury someone.

Tge most annoying is the church angle.
The family will have to buy wine to notify the church that their member is dead. Cook choir and band food separate. Invite ushers separate else no one will come.
How about the one that the church will bring out a register to calculate the deceased debts? On top soul wey we never even know wey him dey go o

I just realized something about my church some three weeks ago which I felt so bad about despite how much I love it.
Overtime,I realized that since I joined the church I have never heard them announce anyone's death or burial. In my mind for real o,I have been thinking, wow. I love the longevity here.

Imagine my shock when I joined workforce meeting for the first time that three weeks ago that burials have been going on. One of the dept member in that unit, the husband died and we were about 8 people that were assigned to go to the burial,8 people from the choir and one minister. That's all. Till date,no mention of such members death and prayer from the general church for the family. Another case was a member that died and everything was just hush. Whatever mehn
If this person was out member, why can't we ALL rally round the family and make them feel the love too in their time of grief.

    Sorry for the epistle jare

  7. That’s the last act you get to do for them on earth so It feels like a last respect and a way to honour them.

For someone like me, I absolutely adore my mom and I ll be a hypocrite if I say i’m not gonna go all out for her.

    My Opinion.

    1. Why not go all out for her that she is alive?

If you love her that much, why not empty your account for her now she is alive?

Why wait till she die before you will show her the love that she will feel the joy?

    2. Your comment is deliberately obtuse when I just said it’s the last act..the last going all out for her.
Bold of you to think my Momma does not feel and relish in my love.

Joziwawa from South East is burying his mom on Friday, 64 cows have been tied in their family compound. Not 6 not 4,64 heavy cows, people are begging him to do giveaways this night, they might be blog readers from here

But some need to be scrapped! Some states burial is even more expensive than wedding ceremonies..you will hear, the children should go and look for money for the burial cos of merriment and all

    3. Custom and tradition that umunna and umuada (that never cared about the deceased when alive) will eat to their satisfaction and poison another innocent person so that they will go for another burial and enjoy.

    4. My friends dad was made a chief not because he had money but just to honour him.

When the man died they were told burial for chiefs is done for one week. They spent money. They killed cow everyday.

The worst part is that the children weren't doing so well and their father never told them how it is done. They borrowed money just to Bury him.

  15. Very annoying something... Some people's parent ll be staying in an old family house in the village but when they die, the children ll now renovate it for lying in state, expensive coffins and food that the deceared never ate during their lifetime. So sad

  16. My dad's elder brother's burial is coming up sometime next month. We are already budgeting over 6m and the money has been shared amongst siblings, cousins and other relatives. The guy has 20 children.

A friend of mine has already kept 10m aside for the burial of his mum whenever that happens.

  17. It's annoying and aggravating, someone who died poor is now been buried as a rich man or woman..

The question is, did you guys attended to his or her needs when she was alive? Or you turn deaf ears, waiting for the announcement and boom....Aso ebi...

Well, to me, I think the Ijebus are well known to this act and the Aworis.. they won't give you money to eat or start business let alone buy drugs but they are ready to call Wizkid and Tiwa Savage when u die

  18. It is the so called village Elders that makes the family to spend much for burial. I remember when my grandma died. you won't believe they refuse to put her corpse in the grave because of some money they were insisting should be paid like they will live forever. we just tried our best not to fight with them so she can have a peaceful burial and rest because I remember before her burial that she appeared to me in the dream and said she came to help arrange things for her burial to be peaceful and I thank God we were able to manage those village people and actually give her a peaceful burial.

  19. Sadly, where I come from, some aged people who don't deserve the fanfare still have to be buried this way.
They even levy everyone in the family and you must pay your contribution.
I've made up my mind not to allow any such contribution when my mum passes because I have no intention of continuing the tradition. I can't continue to pay for people I never knew/met or people I deliberately avoided like plagues when they were alive because I didn't trust them(spiritually).
