BV XP RESPONDS TO IJEOMAS GIST CORNER ON WEDNESDAY
IN HOUSE NEWS

Bv Ijeoma. Please I have a contribution. Cutting plantain down has strong negative implications. I'm surprised at comments.

In the spiritual world, it's a tree reserved for paying homage to the god of childbirth in native religion and regarded as MURDER. If your neighbor nurtures one and it eventually overflows into your compound while grafting, you can only support the hump with a long stick or tie it to a balance. You don't cut until the owner decides otherwise, that's a pointer that it has "bounds" guarding it.

However, if it was an innocent slash by a child or a non Igbo, there is a one hour step for the ceremony. Fewer things are used or sometimes prayers said and it's waved off. In IGBOLAND, the god is called Chi ómúmú or Chi Okike according to your zone.

One people. One language. Different process. I'll explain the process I was taught.

If your child grows up showing funny weird characteristics, you kneel before a plantain tree to cry for mercy. It is believed that the soul is tied there since baby placentas from delivery rooms are usually buried there. His or hers could as well be there depending on where he was born. That man who committed the atrocity (?)in the above story, his parents probably didn't know of such. He must have done some other "ills" before the plantain issue.

The time for crying is usually at night and you will be surrounded by white pots, each from 5 of your years, if you are 30 it is 6small white pots. They will have 5 babychalks known as nzu nwa or ufie nwa gotten from the banks of the river. 2 white clothes for; a baby girl and a baby boy specifically. If less than 5 which is almost not in any case, your mum will undergo the cleansing. The gods will hear your plea and turn him around then his ways will become pure.

It's left for your family to choose what to give as Thanksgiving to the Heathens(traditional idol worshippers).

Why plantain you may ask?

It's a tree that can give birth only once. The owner slashes it down from the roots once the only bunch from it is due. Osisi ofu ntú ime is the local godly name(a tree that bears fruit once in its lifetime). It is regarded that in cutting it off when it's budding, you've denied it motherhood so you have to pay.

It may sound heavy but it's lenient though. Paying is through a 3- way ceremony. The process follows underneath.

Note: that the motherhood you denied it means you have also denied yourself long life. It is regarded as Sacrilege. When asked to appease the gods of omumu when you cut the tree and you refuse, it means you have accepted a short life span.

When you die and a baby is born within that period the male child will be an Ozoemena or Ejimnkeonye, a female child will be Chinualumuogu or Nyobachim.
Currently, many towns have advised against such eyebrow raising names. So you hardly hear them.

The bad side is that families who defy the traditional cleansing process are always afflicted with a particular ailment or calamity that stretches into generations. It could be untimely death at a particular age, a disease many carry on life with while battling it for years, missing adults never found or female family members always dying during childbirth. The pain is systematic and consistent in most families.

Ceremony for appeasing is done on an Eke market day that falls on the 1st day of a month within a year. That is the 1st market day according to traditional calendar, a day for turning around evil done to children. This ceremony is organized and performed by the Heathens, they(about 4) come kitted and with an oji(a long totem) on the right hand of their leader.

A woman heathen comes with them, she comes in an all white wrapper duly tied round from her chest down, draped in white chalks and a long scarf running down her spine. She's called The Ezenwanyi who accepts your items one after the other then hands them back to you to go drop at a junction same night.

She bears a totem too; it guides the way clears the evil spirits at midnight or the process won't be completed. They're likely to upturn it. The good thing about the process is that no man or woman touches you. They stand to watch that you keep to instructions, lay the items in the white pots in order and shake well when instructed to begin the process while some members of the family can watch from a distance.

If it's dark, they can light native candles.

Items normally required include many newborns or day olds:
 Day old spotless white chick.
A Oneseed kolanut bud( ójí ofu mkpí).

2 cowries,white in color(ego ayóló)

A big white hen (nnekwu).

White baby beads or hair pins known as ngìlìnga nwa or aka nwa.

A small bell painted white( mgbìlìmgba nwa).

Day old white goat kid with the placenta( this is the hardest to find) as nwa ewu ocha is a scarce breed but somehow they get around it.

Most times the family takes months to book a pregnant white goat and monitor the delivery. It can be induced to birth at a time as long as it is due.

Freshly cut bunch of plantain with the fluid dripping from the thick stalk.
A white strip of cloth is tied to the stalk.

Can't remember the rest of the items but they're all affordable and no raw cash is taken. No blood drips anywhere and there are no incisions on any body part. Your 1st process is at midnight, few hours before 12 holding plantain leaves on both hands to call your full names and those of your parents and grandparents only(ikwu ato is the name process).

Then state your offence and plead for forgiveness. You get guides on how and who to call their names into the 5(?)pots.

2nd you proceed to a 3 way junction led by Ezenwanyi to drop the pots. The Heathens will carry it away and complete the process provided none is cracked or broken on the way. They are usually small anyway.

3rd step, you shower when you get home using a small white soap which must finish and sleep in a white cotton outfit.

4th step, the following day at sunrise, usually between 7am and 8am depending on the weather, you hold one kolanut that has 5 parts in your right hand and an nzu(white limestone) in the left and speak into the sun. Give God thanks for honoring your plea, call the names you'll want your unborn coming babies to bear, declare what you want them to become then go drop the kolanut and nzu in a bucket of water, shower with it and burn the white cloth you slept in.

The kolanut is crushed and thrown away and the nzu melts in the bathing water.

Notice that nothing gets into your mouth.Your family can do Thanksgiving on Sunday( Christians, hmmmm), share biscuits, fanta orange(only) and sweets to kids from the neighbourhood after church service where the Reverend gets to pray and annoint you as the case may be.

The weight of the party depends on your pocket but it's advised that it's toned down because sugary things aren't good for kids. Thereafter, you're FREE!

Please don't try to argue that because you or your family are born again Christians, you will never follow the process. My dear you are A Goner! The ways of the "gods" are deeper than we know. When you're warned to avoid them. AVOID THEM. When you're told to give to Caesar what is Caesar's. GIVE TO CAESAR and go away.

In all, let your blood not drop anyway or receive any cuts on your body. Blood covenant is deadly. And always Think before you lift a Cutlass! The gods are wise. We can only explain the physical, they know the spiritual and they are holding it down well. Stay out of the "gods' way" and hold your own side well.

They make their demands at the right time and you can't escape it. Bv Ijeoma. Another one is: the spirit under the ogilisi tree.Mùó nó n'ukwu ogilisi ebe ana aló mùó. That tree? Hmmm. There's a reason you don't pour water to the root or cook near it if it's in your compound. Maybe when you write about an issue on it, I'll explain further. Or we explain further.

OMG OMG OMG!!!

This is so entertaining and enlightening, I was just screaming reading this... I know someone that cut down a tree like this and things are so wrong with this person. Na wah oh.

What if the tree just sprouts without anyone planting it and someone gets rid of it after sometime?

FROM THURSDAY SPONTANEOUS POST

I read something yesterday in a group I belong to on Facebook and I have been thinking about it since. The summary of the gist is that a young lady started working for a family as a live-in househelp, she said her madam is good to her but before long her oga started disturbing her to sleep with him, and according to her one day "one thing led to another" and she slept with him and she has been sleeping with him since then.

After she had been with the family for a while her oga's brother came to visit and when everybody leaves the house for their day she is left alone with the oga's brother and that was how they they started talking and "one thing led to another" and she started sleeping with him too" :

The brother told her he lives in Abuja came back to look for a wife, he told her that he likes her and will want to marry her and even gave her a ring. That was how this girl ( in her early 20s) started sleeping with her oga and his brother on a regular under her Madam's nose until the oga's brother went back to his base and promised to come for her.

Even after she got the ring from the brother, she was still gbenshing her oga, according to her, she does not want him to grow suspicious.

One day ,recently, her madam called her and told her not to make much food for that night because the whole family will be traveling to Abuja for her( the Madam's) brother-in-law's wedding, the girl said her heart skipped a beat when she heard Abuja, but she went ahead to ask her madam which of her brother-in-law and that was how madam told her that it was the one that came to visit.

She said that since the oga's brother went back to Abuja they have been communicating regularly but after leaving her madam she called him and he did not pick up and he has refused to pick her calls or reply any of her messages since then.

Now, she came to ask for advice from the group, she said she is considering going to the wedding with the family that maybe when the guy sees her he might not go ahead with the wedding, lol. I am not one to judge people for their actions but this one weak me. Several questions have been going through my mind, is the girl just naive? Can one thing really lead to another and you forget every sense of morality?

How blind can the madam be that all these were happening under her roof for months and she didn't see it? People dey Sha. Have a great day everyone

      You are absolutely right!

I was shocked people don't know this!

But you know how everyone claims Christianity! If you talk, war!

Tradition still stands. Reason many families are suffering what they don't know because of ignorance.

    2. Ada, you cannot blame the madam o. What you yourself don't know around you will shock you.

The ones that try to know are usually called insecure and paranoid

Did you see how they bashed the lady suspecting her hubby was molesting their boy. What if her instincts were right?

You cannever know it all in this life o! Just do your best and leave the rest to God.

That help might be the best thing after sliced bread to her madam. How will she be suspecting such a person? Someone that probably pampers her kids and carries madam fights on her head like gala.

Humans will shock you. And will shock you more on how innocent and selfish they will be sounding on the shocker defending themselves and innocently looking out for themselves.

In the mind of the silly househelp now, she follow for list of those going through heartbreak o

  2. We fight too many battles that don’t matter. “They’re talking about me; I’m going to set them straight.” But when you get them fixed, somebody else will start talking. Here’s what I’ve learned, nobody talks about people that aren’t doing anything. Nobody tries to discredit someone that has no influence. Take it as a compliment. The reason they’re talking is because you’re a difference maker, you’re a world changer. They can see your influence, your gifts, and the favor on your life. The brighter the light, the more the heat. The higher you go, the more people can see you. Joel Osteen

    * i don't consider the problem, i consider christ
    * i don't give room for unbelief, i trust God's word and give him thanks always
I refuse to be distracted by my present experiences, i trust the integrity of God's Word and his capacity to fulfill all he promised. I learnt not to worry rather i come to him in prayers with Thanksgiving. This and many more the spirit is guiding me into and am grateful to God for it. The greatest gift of God to the believer is the gift of the spirit. Always be ready to allign. Stay blessed, you don't fail.

~ Make mistakes that lead us to a higher level

  22. Cutting Plantain:

Romans 8:1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you a free from the law of sin and death.

So dear, I am not in anyway disputing what you wrote up there. But in Christ Jesus, we have better promises and practice.
The Law of sin and death works in those who adhere to (the spirits) of the dead like you described in details
about the traditional religion of those people. A person simply chose where he/she wants to belong to.

I know of a gospel campaign that took place in a remote village in the same geo-political zone as you described.
The villagers deliberately gave the missionaries the field behind their idols temple to use for the program.
They did this because they saw women among them and they know very well that ladies do not sit on the log of woods
that were placed in those fields around that idol. the consequences are dire; the lady begins to menstruate all her
life and the wombs of the ladies in her family gets shut, no fruit of the womb ever.
It backfired. Yes, when the villages saw believer sisters sitting comfortably there for the whole week and their gowns
where not stained nor was there any discomfort, they all believed. Nothing whatsoever happened to those ladies afterwards
or to members of their families.

  26. I was having a discussion with my husband about why Nigeria is the way it is, despite having like 20 churches on each street. XP’s post up there just helped me buttress my point. We have a form of morality but deny the power therein. Giving to Caesar refers to civil responsibility! But Nigerians have used it as an excuse to put a hand on the plough, and still look back. The Bible says you can’t serve two masters. If you are a traditional worshipper, please do it with your chest and stop calling yourself a Christian. If you are a Christian, you must forsake all other gods and follow Christ. There are no half measures o! 36. Xp momma your write up was quite enlightening and shows depth in our culture and traditions. I'm also both pleased and surprised on how profound and detailed you were but I'm of the opinion that a true Christian wouldn't want to partake in all of these.

  44. Una good afternoon.

Sister generous maid aka Keziah, I hope you know that your madam knows everything that went on. What I'm scared is that they may be using you to get something from your destiny.

XP, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth". Look at that line. Did you see the full stop after the word 'earth'? Good. This line of scripture summarises everything about life. God is the one who created everything including plantains and told us to "have dominion over everything!" Plantains inclusive! All you wrote up there does not apply to a child of God. As long as you are guiltless, "nothing shall by any means hurt you"'. That's power from God. And even if you commit the crime of cutting it, ask the owners for forgiveness, ask God for forgiveness and pray. A child of God can't be intimidated by plantain, Jesus!!

All you wrote there pertains to fetishness, paganism and diplomatic satanism, though you may not know, and no real child of God can indulge in such. Please let's stop making it look like the devil has power over God. These beliefs were propagated by Satan, spread by his servants, and forced down the throats of people with one singular weapon - fear!

    Let's be guided.

  46. Why are plantain trees cut off when a young person dies and nothing happens to the people that does 'I need explanation on this

  47. I'm marveled reading comments of people talking about Christianity and all that. Why are we so ignorant about true facts? No doubt there's Christianity but it doesn't take away tradition I can categorically tell you that. Before Christianity there was traditions. More also there was humanity as well before Christianity. Even the Christ you all talked about isn't a Christian but a Jew who practiced Judaism. The Israelites aren't Christians till date but they are God's people and most beloved.

Tradition isn't bad like people have always painted it but the problem is that, we often attribute rituals and some diabolical things to this tradition. Ordinarily, tradition is the people's cultural belief. There are so many stories if I share now some of you will grow cold feet. My place I came from I have gotten over many old traditional practices still in place that you will marvel when being told. We don't usually say this things so as not to create that impression we are against Christianity.

The plantain tradition is as old as history have been unless one who wasn't cultural brought up or taught about it.

Now let me shock you. Do you know there are sickness, I mean ailment that defiles medical treatment and can only be treated through traditional means. I wish I can share about some of these stuff with you guys now. Maybe will do that when I'm more chance to write in details.

Make no mistake about this, Christianity didn't take away our tradition. It's still potent and transcending generations.

  48. Today's stories are heavy o.
The housegirl from the second story is very wicked and can kill seriously.

About the plantain story, there is this landlord that we had some years ago. The man was a confirmed wizard who thought people didn't know. One day he came to tell my dad to cut his plantain that it's a gift to us as an Xmas gift. If he wanted to gift us,why didn't he cut it himself. My dad thanked him and left but didn't cut it that day. The following day,my dad called his son to help him cut the plantain. Na so the son cut the plantain for us but my dad wrapped it in a bag and threw it away.
When the man came back he was furious with the son for cutting it and left with him to the village. They came back threw days later. It was much later that we knew that it was that plantain cutting that made him leave with his son. How he even got to know,we don't know
