Speaking from the White House on Thursday, February 24, Biden voiced support for Ukraine and said the sanctions package will limit international trade with Moscow and penalize Russian President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle.
According to the president, “Putin is the aggressor; Putin chose this war, and now he and his country will bear the consequences. Today, I’m authorizing additional strong sanctions, and new limitations on what can be exported to Russia. This is going to impose a severe cost on the Russian economy both immediately and over time.
I just spoke with the G-7 leaders this morning, and we’re in full and total agreement: We will limit Russia’s ability to do business in dollars, euros, pounds, and yen to be part of the global economy. We’ll limit their ability to do that.”
The sanctions target five major Russian banks that hold more than $1 trillion in assets, including the country’s largest bank, Sberbank, as well as members of the Russian elite and their families.
“That means every asset they have in America will be frozen,” the US president said. “We will keep up this drumbeat of those designations against corrupt billionaires in the days ahead,” he pledged.

China and Russia have been in alliance for a very long time that's why they vote same way against the other 3 (western) permanent members of UN Security Council.

Unfortunately and sadly, no one will help Ukraine. Ukraine is not a member of NATO. The world watches as Putin pummels Ukraine. Zelensky, the president and his government will be removed and a Russia friendly government installed.

Ukraine is not yet a member of the NATO but they have a form of partnership(which is indirect membership for the now), making them an ally of the USA. So why re they(US,UK and NATO) quiet? after exposing Ukraine to all these troubles which is due to their partnership with NATO

UN's Secretary General, Antonio Guterres was literally begging Putin to withdraw his troops for the sake of humanity because they are all aware that the Russians re not at fault here.

DeleteNo Kidjo, biden can not deploy troops to Ukraine because it's not their (US) fight. According to biden, if troops are to be deployed to Europe, it's to defend the NATO territories and reassure their allies. Biden doesn't want to get involved in Putins mess.

Now Biden is trying to excuse himself after all the troubles the USA have caused . Were they allies with the Afghanistan when they sent troops there to occupy it for more than 7years. Were they allies with Libya when they sent their soldiers to murder Gaddafi?? they've weighed the outcome of the war and know they stand to benefit nothing(no oil or diamond to be stolen while their soldiers re fighting dirty) so the war is of no use to them. They only wanted to put their military base in Ukraine and be spying on Russia from there but didn't expect Russia to take their actions so serious.
@Kidjo Putin would have still invaded Ukraine so far as the President isn't loyal to him. Was Biden the President when Russia invaded Georgia in 2008?
