Couch Convo - Nigeria's New Naira Notes And The Grumblings

Nigeria's new Naira notes were unveiled on Wednesday November 23, 2022 and Nigerians have been complaining left right and centre and even some Intelligent ones who should know better are among the complainants....

I dont get it...... Were they expecting the details to be changed ? Do you know the drama that would ensue if details are changed?

I dont know about you but i love the colors and i love the idea behind bringing back the colors of the lower denominations to the higher ones.....

Was quite surprised to see some Nigerian celebrities on Instagram complaining for the likes and the traffic without proper research and proper explanation to those who do not understand!

Lets discuss this... Do you really understand why just the color were changed and not details? if you do, can you please explain? if you dont ,can you please air your mind properly?

  1. Stella God bless you for bringing this topic up, I told my husband yesterday Nigerians like complaining just damn too much! I see no big deal in the new notes, when the government said they'll be changing them, did the specifically tell them the kind of design to expect? I don't understand the hullabaloo about these new notes!

  2. The main purpose of this change is to eradicate money laundering and hoarding. They had no intention of redesigning the notes,it was never their plan in the first place.I really commend the brains behind the idea.E choke!

    1. And how will this eradicate money laundering and hoarding?
With the new notes in circulation will people not launder?
      Will they not hoard?
Fastest downward spiral of the economy I have ever seen in 30 years.
But ofcourse I await you and other smart people on this blog to explain to us simple folk.

    2. The best solution is to deal with corruption. Won't this money be in circulation for hoarding again?
everything is now on the high side. No one is complaining except on the internet. Whether we like it or not,Tinubu will be enforced to us.
      This country is finished

    3. @Anons, yes people would still launder. However, this time it would be more difficult, as there would be stringent measures in place to hinder that.

    4. They moved the hoarding to dollars, farm produce, land and houses

  4. I think that they redesign the notes because some their colleague store some raw cash and also to eradicate money laundering.

    2. I am telling you, the budget for the rebranding of our Naira notes is outrageous . They had no clue the definition of rebranding . That was why they couldn’t wait until the official date (December)they gave the whole Nigerians and (Niger Republic) their real country and decided to announce it yesterday.
Meanwhile their brothers are already demanding for the New duplicated faded/ pale notes.
They have just given Authority to the people who produce fake Naira note before today to go ahead and produce more . Don’t be surprise Fake note go plenty no be small.God help my country Nigeria.

  11. Stella, i am a printer. I can tell you that spending 52 billion naira to print those notes is rubbish. They just basically swapped plates, crossed ink and voila! New notes! They should not have bothered really.

  12. Stella the complaints of Nigerians is not about changing or redesigning the notes. The issue is among all the problems the country is facing should this be their priority? Hear the amount used in printing this and you will understand our complaints.

They are talking about ransom payment, kidnappers are now demanding the new notes for ransom. How did the new note stop this? It is just unfortunate the kind of wicked and heartless leaders we have.
