Sunday In House Gists - RELIGION.

"There are 8 billion people are on the planet, and about 2.5 billion of them are Christians.

Christians claim to have the only-true-God connection and view themselves as the only qualified ones called to minister the truth to save humankind. They believe that privilege is theirs because they are the Bible experts. There are 41,000 different Christian denominations around the world, and close to 450,000 international missionaries mobilized abroad.

The Roman Catholic Church is considered to be the largest financial power on earth. Evangelical Christianity isn’t doing too shabby either. A top Christian televangelist lives in a $10 million house with a private jet, another one drives a $350,000 Bentley, and a recent Megachurch teacher was hired for $22 million a year. Another megapastor has a net worth of $760 million. No, that's not a typo - an annual salary of $22 mill and net worth of $760 milk.

One megachurch meets in a sports stadium, draws close to 50,000 people for a worship service, and has an annual budget that exceeds $90 million. Speaking of budgets, 82 percent of the average church budget is used to cover the expense of buildings and salaries. Considering the number of people, buildings, and dollars, Christendom is quite an impressive empire on planet Earth.

But for what? What has this shiny, lucrative Christian empire actually accomplished?
What do we have to show for it? We haven’t made even a dent in the suffering that plagues humankind and our planet. But I’ll give us one thing—you sure have to admire the sheer size of this discordant monstrosity. However, Jesus, as a homeless man with a handful of confused followers and no budget, had more of a revolutionary impact in three years than the entire Christian church has in three centuries.

Jesus was a revolutionary. Christendom is a business. Following Jesus once meant speaking truth to power. Modern Christianity is budgets, buildings and bank accounts.”

7 ways to wage inner anarchy:

1. Unlearn something
Our heads have been programmed with all kinds of false and disempowering beliefs, mindsets, narratives and ideologies that are ruling us from within and running our lives, and it's time to identify and ditch them one by one.

2. Switch sources
Stop conceding to external sources of authority and living your life on the basis of the "shoulds" and expectations of others, and claim responsibility and authority for your own life, and start by listening, following, and expressing the truth you access within yourself.

3. Stop doing something
The current system and order that espouses ego, greed, materialism, vanity, and self-absorption only has the power we give to it through our participation; divest yourself from that old order by refusing to play the game.

4. Question everything
Don't accept any rationale or justification for the status quo, but dig into it and make it legitimize itself to you on the basis of critical thinking, direct experience, and your highest truth.

5. Educate yourself
Ignorance is one of the biggest obstacles, but the antidote is to take the time to explore beneath the surface and understand what's driving the way things currently are in our world.

6. Make powerful alliances
Rather than running with the herd, find and connect with others who are serious about living life differently and consequentially.

7. Go deeper
The "self-help" movement is often pedaling gimmicks, quick-fix schemes and formulas, superficial change, and symptom-management; go deeper than this by addressing the root causes of your chronic unhappiness and disharmony in life.

  1. Immediately I saw 2.8 billion, I didn't bother reading. Catholics alone is 1.4 billion. I doubt that 2.8 billion is correct.

  2. Una no dey ever see any other religion to attack and write epistles about. Na the one wey dey preach love and light una go dey drop quote for

Anyways, na for people wey go read that thing finish. I no dey read

    1. No comment on the other religions? No talk of Holy Spirit?

    2. i stop reading at the point they said we have 2.8 million Christians. anything to discredit christianity will be on the front page. allow us worship our God how we dim fit na. i give heavily towards the things of God and i wont stop, all i know is a life of giving.

if Pastor Chris Oyhakhilome like make him get 70 private jet and i am trekking i still wont stop giving, coz i am not giving to the church but for the furtherance of the gospel, if they decide to divert the funds for their personal gains thats on them.

    3. You are so correct!

    4. Lol at Eka, you want make the Jihadis behead them? Christianity is fair game to most and they will never try it elsewhere.

  3. Yesterday when i wrote in Chronicles that i am no longer a Christian, a bv advised me to stop being angry at God.
Is Christianity the only religion in the world.
Does letting go of Christianity mean i am angry with God?
I had to let go of a lot of beliefs i was taught as a Christian and I became liberated.
A lot of people will judge me not knowing that i have seen the light.
No going to Christianity for me. No going back to blindness for me.
    Freedom is so liberating.

    1. lol you never a Christian my dear, lets stop decieving ourselves

    2. Of course, you would know who is really a christian and who isn't because you believe you have the right to judge as the authentic christian you claim you are.
I am glad to be free from congregating with your likes.
Enjoy your Christianity, especially the way most Nigerians practice t.

  4. One thing I know for certain is that, there's a supreme being who oversees the universe. I am definitely sure He's not limited to a particular religion. The traditionalist also acknowledges His presence as well.

The problem I see among the Christian religion could be liken to a foundational problem. We need to go back to the basis if truly we want to be like the Apostles that were first called Christians at Antioch.

My battery is almost empty, there are argument(s) it would have interest me to put out here for discussion and deliberation but I have just 1% and can't do that right now. Hopefully, to come back when I get home and charge my phone.

  5. See upper cut.

"However, Jesus, as a homeless man with a handful of confused followers and no budget, had more of a revolutionary impact in three years than the entire Christian church has in three centuries"

    Sin! Sin ! Sin !
Pastors not pure, congregation not pure. That's why they can't achieve anything.
May God have mercy on us.

  6. Well, Christians believe only those who practice Christianity will go to heaven. Muslims, Jews, Zionists, Buddhist, toaist, Judaism, etc won't.

    1. Don’t generalize pls, not all Christians believe this, It’s only God that truly knows how We are gonna be judged and who will see Heaven. I am a Christian and I have learnt not to pass judgement.

    2. BlackBerry, have you met and interacted with Muslims? They also believe they are the only ones going to heaven. I have them plenty here. I don't know about others though

  7. I believe in God. I believe in the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, who is Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit. I believe the Word of God. I believe the Bible. I believe Jesus died for my sins to reconcile me to God. I believe He rose from death and is now alive seated at the right hand of the Father. I believe Jesus is coming back very soon. I believe the Holy Spirit is with us and in us (those who accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour). So for me Christianity is not just a religion but a way of life. It is cultivating daily a relationship with my Father. When I fall down, I repent and I am forgiven (part of why Jesus died). I am learning daily to be fully dependent on God for everything because by myself I am nothing and can do nothing. In Jesus Christ is my hope of glory. I am still learning a lot in my walk with God. One thing I am certain is that the Word of God is true, hence the Church will continue to march on and the gates of hell shall not prevail. Shallom........

  8. Why is it that it’s Christianity una like to attack or write epistles on? People seem not to know that Christianity is a personal race (God has given us free will). Nobody is forced to worship God or pay tithe, contribute money for pastors etc. the issue is people don’t settle down to understand the God they serve and that’s why they can be easily deceived.
Me I choose to serve God and it has been a graceful experience and it still is

  9. The person writing this doesn't really know Christianity or the continued positive impact it has in the world. The examples of a few Judases does not stop Christianity for being the true religion brought to us by Christ. Look deeper and see beyond the secular anti Christian bias out there. There are many who live genuine Christian life and are not broadcasting it, because it is not for show.
