The Monies Of Dead Men And Women In The Banks

There is a  great lesson to learn from the post.....  please read.

''While talking with a female bank manager she made a scary revelation to me.
She told me how Nigerian bank vaults are filled with monies of dead men who kept their bank accounts secret from their wives and children. She explained it was against bank ethics or policies for an account officer to inform the relatives of a deceased customer of his account (without his permission). And since the man is dead without giving his permission the bank dubiously keeps silence on the money. She told me it is rampant among many businessmen.

She revealed many instances of dead men whose families are still suffering even though they have millions stashed in their secret accounts.

She mentioned one that happened few months back. The man died and the wife was crying all over the place, looking for money to bury him or even do his funeral. Whereas the man had nothing less than 60 million naira in his accounts.
The banker said it got to a stage that she could no longer bear it, her conscience was pummeling her. She had to go against her bank rules, and got in contact with the widow and revealed to the woman how much her husband had in his accounts and how to claim them.

She also told of another story of one man who escaped death but his right hand was paralysed. He couldn't sign his chequebook with his left hand and he was in a desperate situation that needed him to sign papers and cheques. That was how he learnt his own lesson the hard way. As soon as he got better, he immediately made his wife co-signatory to all his accounts and involved her in all his businesses. What if he had died? So, that was how his family would have suffered in the midst of plenty.

Unfortunately, this stupid behaviour is not reserved for wealthy men alone, even paupers who earn little too have their own complex issues. I just read on the wall of a group where a man complained of how his friend refused to release his ATM pin number to his wife even though there was an emergency at home, and his ATM was at home.

Many orphans and widows that are suffering today are put in that condition by their stupid dead father.

Women are not left out; someone told me how a relative of hers died and none of her relatives knew where all her properties *(real estate investment)* scattered all over the world are. Not even one house. Not even a dime in her accounts.
If you knew billions unclaimed in banks belonging to selfish dead people, you would weep. Banks grow fat on these oats.

Please do the needful now that you still have the breath to do so, of course tomorrow is pregnant and only God knows what it will deliver.

This is 2019 make the difference in your family.

Don't only tell your wife or your husband and your children the number of bank accounts you have, let them also know how to access them and give your banks *a clause* in case you are no more on how to access them.

Nobody prays for evil but the basic truth is, many bankers are getting rich day by day by trading with the money of the *dead* while their respective families suffer after their passage.

  5. There's nothing like fabricated, do your research on how Nigerian banks work with unclaimed money. This was 2019 and in 2023 Emefele is saying the the government should claim monies in dormant acc that is up to 10yrs. I don't kn why they should be a next of kin in bank forms when the position of the next of kin is not working.

    1. Is it not when you inform the bank that the person is dead and also inform the next of kin that you made him one. The best thing is to have an agreement with your bank that if you are inactive for so so number of months or years, your next of kin should be called.

    2. Don't mind them. CBN already announced that they will claim the money in dormant accounts and return it within 10days when the owner files a claim. They know the amount is a lot. My spouse's friend had a rich unmarried aunt that died. The family had no clue and relied on a man that worked for her to show them some of her properties. They believe he withheld some from them because he ended showing them less than the number he initially told them but they couldn't do anything because they had no proof, neither did they know where to look.

  6. Something similar is happening to my uncle, he and his late wife’s younger brother were listed as the next of kin, years after her death the brother refused to sign the document to release the money.

    1. Simple matter. Let him go consult a lawyer. Except there are facts outside your knowledge.

  7. Hakimi's disciples left the group chat and blocked the Admin. At least, Hakimi mama know where all him own money dey. Truly, some people (men and women) know they are dead the moment they let their spouse(s)/relatives know their true financial status. Just get an honest and God-fearing lawyer to write a will and contact your family in case of any eventuality. Bank go release money when dem see "Letter of Administration" for Nigeria. E no hard rara.

  8. IF YOU DIE TODAY,
YOUR NEXT OF KIN WILL NOT HAVE ANY ACCESS TO THE MONEY IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT!!!

So many Nigerians think that their next of kin is the automatic heir to their account. But the truth is that if your next of kin is not a signatory to your account, and you don’t have a written will to determine that person’s legitimacy, the person will not have access to that money at all. Your bank will have to go through a process called a LEGAL PROBATE. This probate period helps them determine who gets the money in your account. This is a very very lengthy and expensive process. Even after the whole process is done, your family will have to forfeit some very reasonable amount of the money for legal fees.

But if you want to avoid this , simply request for your bank to give you something called a POD form. POD stands for PAYABLE ON DEA*TH. The name of the person you fill in that POD form will determine who will get your money . All the person needs to bring is a de*ath certificate to get that money out.

With a POD form , you will save your family the stress of going through all that lengthy legal process and even loosing some money to the law.

Just thought I should let you know👌

    2. Please tell which law enables POD, which Bank accepts it in Nigeria and for what type of account.

Very doubtful information. Such arrangements only possible in specific contract basis; not for general accounts.

If you don't trust your spouse, there has to be someone else you trust.
Thank God for will ooo if not, these bankers...

  12. Lol I’m so glad reading these comments that there are people with more sense than the writer. This is a load of babble. Yes unclaimed money may be abandoned but it is simply because a lot of people can’t be bothered or don’t know the process. This story is only in conjunction to those without a will. And as someone has said it can be a long tedious, expensive process and most people just don’t bother with it especially if there is low hanging fruit like property in plain sight. So please this story is takes by moonlight Sorry
