LP Presidential Candidate Peter Obi Says He Must Be President Of Nigeria

Former Anambra State Governor, and presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, in the last election, Mr Peter Obi has insisted that he must be President of Nigeria.

Obi, who is in court challenging Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the winner of the 2023 Presidential election, said he is convinced in his spirit that he will be President.

He said these words during the launch of a book written in his honour: ‘Peter Obi: Many Voices, One Perspective’, in Awka, Anambra State.
Obi said: “Anyone who thinks I’m on transit is wasting his time. Let me tell you, I must be the president of this country. I’m sure of that. If it is not today, it must be tomorrow.

“Other people who want to be, should come and tell us what they want to do, and how to do it. This is my country, I don’t have dual citizenship. If anyone thinks I am going to run away from Nigeria, they are lying.

“I have three engagements in Anambra and Lagos today. I will be speaking in Lagos tonight. We will not leave Nigeria. I am not in a hurry to become the president, but I know it must happen.

“For three years I was in court in Anambra to reclaim my governorship, just to challenge the process. Many people tried to discourage me, but I said even if the entire four years tenure elapsed for us to prove a point and correct the process, I will be fulfilled.

“My argument is that, let’s do what is right. I always tell everyone that I will not give people money to do the wrong thing. I have been the chairman of a committee; TETFUND committee, and Prof Mahmood was my member. We know ourselves, but when he became INEC chairman, I have never met him. I told him, you’re an umpire, just do what is right.

“If you have the chance to do the right thing, and you insist on perpetuating anarchy, then, it will consume everybody one day. I insist that we must do the right thing.

    2. It is not by force. We are after someone willing to change things, not just to be president. That is an African mindset we need to shift from. It is not about being in the seat of power but service, what you can do. Tankio!

I hope he's on the right path, if so, may the odds favor him.

  6. Hmm it will be hard oo, your followers have made it a tribe thing and constantly spoilt your mission with their bullying and all, last election people from different ethnic group voted for you massively including myself, but if a future election is conducted, I doubt those from different tribes will still vote massively. Just me thinking, I may be wrong though. Success though!!

    1. Oh please! Who are the followers? Are the followers only Igbo people since 'they made it a tribe thing'? I have a lot of Yoruba friends who actively supported Obi. They were his followers too, perhaps they made Obi's campaign a Yoruba thing? Obi had followers from across the nation. Talk another thing, ejoor.

    3. 13:00 sure lacks comprehension, which is typical of the headless mob ... also rational thinking is alien to them.

    3. #reclaim MY governorship.
      #I MUST be president.

Pray tell, what is the difference between you and the "emilokan" individual?

Mr Obi's statements sounds entitled too.

  9. PO said 'must' but his mob saw nothing wrong. Hypocrites.
I can just imagine the outburst if this was said by Tinubu

    1. Like your outburst when Tinubu said it was his turn. O how you shouted from the roof top

    2. I'll hen he said snatch and grab or when he was shouting emilokan, you did not see it. You guys will always criticize obi for the slightest, but turn a blind eye to the one with rotten morals.
Surely the fight is between good and evil, and evil will not prevail.
Let the right thing be done, if the court establishes convincingly that tinubu won, so be it, I'm sure obi will accept the outcome, he has always been a peaceful and law abiding fella

    3. All those things Tinubu said were wrong, as what Obi is saying in this instance is. We need to shift from this 'power by all means' way of thinking, to a more practical form of leadership.

    4. I'm sorry to say, Sir, you must not and, shall not be, the President of Nigeria. Amen.

    5. Hypocrites they are. They termed 'emí lokàn' entitlement but 'must' is fair, is love, is service to them. They should continue with their hypocrisy, we are taking note!

    6. It just confirms obvious bias. Whether it is baboons taking a blood shower or Emilokan or Yes Daddy saying "I must", everyone want's to die on top so no need to form saint.

  10. Your Emilokan speech is a few months late.
