ReplyDeleteAs we mark yet another Children's Day in Nigeria, we must ask ourselves if truly, we are fair and just to our kids - whether as parents, guardians, teachers or even government. Are the basic rights of these children protected and implemented? Hmmmm......
I pray today for my kids Giovanni and Giannina, and use them as point of contact to all the children in Nigeria, that God will protect, bless and prosper them. They will make us all proud.
And as parents, may God give us resources required to cater to the NEEDS of our kids. 🙏

ReplyDeleteWho else has noticed that beans, our regular dear beans has changed. When you cook beans and ripe plantain pottage now, the beans sort of removes the sweet taste of the plantain. Whenever I boil my ripe plantain in the beans, it does not have the usual sweet taste of ripe plantain, except I cook the plantain separately or fry it in oil. Why this happens I don't understand because it didn't used to be like this some years ago. This happens with different types of beans I have bought in the open market. I also noticed that beans no longer get mushy soft when boiled alone for even 2hrs, unlike before; expect you add potash. Na waa o.
I pray the beans are not tampered with in some way to maximize profit.

Maybe you add salt to your beans from the start. My own beans gets mushy soft and I don't cook it for two hours. One hour max, it gets very soft, almost turning into gbegiri. I don't add anything to it when I put it on fire except plenty onions and a little vegetable oil. I add salt and other things when it becomes soft.

No matter the type of beans I cook, it usually comes out tasty cos a pressure pot or cooker does it better and it gets cooked faster in less than 20 minutes.
