Nigerian Govt Orders Immediate Release Of 102,000 Metric Tonnes Of Rice And Maize

The food crisis in Nigeria, coupled with the inflationary trend, has compelled the Nigerian government to order the release of 102,000 metric tonnes of rice and maize to Nigerians.

The government has also disclosed that it may embark on the importation of whatever shortfalls may be experienced to augment supplies.
Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, stated this while fielding questions from State House reporters shortly after the meeting of the Presidential Committee on Food Emergency, which was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

He said the President has directed that “food will be made available, whatever it takes.”
The decision came after a series of deliberations by the committee, in reaction to the protests by Nigerians over the high cost of food and other economic challenges.

    1. This government keep dishing out directives like small children, The problem is not scarcity, the big issue is the cost. Bet me, this is only political statement, no one will see a grain of rice. They should stop borrowing dollars and use the money they realized from subsidy removal or put back the subsidy else we will keep going back and forth.
