The tripartite minimum wage negotiation meeting involving Organised Labour, the federal and the state governments, and the Organized Private Sector, OPS, on Tuesday ended in deadlock, following Labour’s dismissal of the government’s N54,000 offer as expected. Labour leaders also lamented the absence of state governors in the meeting to present their offers.


. Suspected bandits have reportedly killed over 40 persons after they attacked Zurak village in Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. It was gathered that the armed men invaded the Zurak community when people in the community were about to retire after their normal daily activities.

. Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has inaugurated eight commissioners cleared by three lawmakers led by Victor Oko-Jombo. The governor made this known Tuesday night in a tweet on his X-handle.

 The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to carry out a comprehensive mop-up of all arms, ammunition, AK-47 rifles, cutlasses, and other weapons in the possession of herders and individuals and to prohibit the public from carrying such arms and weapons.

 Suspected members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) have killed a senior police officer in the Northern part of Borno State. It was gathered that the ISWAP members sneaked into New Marte at about 7:30 pm on Monday and attacked a health worker who fortunately escaped.

 Governor Similanayi Fubara
 of Rivers State has said he started taking decisions as a governor in February, 2024. Fubara, who spoke on Tuesday at Egbeda Community Secondary School field, venue of the inauguration of some internal roads project in Emohua Local Government Area, inaugurated by Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, reiterated that the projects people were seeing were accomplishments of four months.

 Seven persons, among whom were students of the Niger Delta University, Yenagoa, were found dead inside a music studio on Tuesday morning after inhaling what is suspected to be generator fumes. It was gathered that the music studio along Transformer Road in the Amarata area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, was operated by one of the deceased, identified as Akpos Barakubo.

 The All Progressives Congress, on Tuesday, dismissed the potential merger talk between the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar and the standard-bearer of the Labour Party in the election, Peter Obi. APC, in a statement, described Atiku and Obi as desperate politicians who could not be trusted with power.

  2. Why are these marauders killing innocent ppl.

    So the state governors conveniently did not attend the meeting about the minimum wage increase. None of these ppl care about the populace, only power and earthly acquisitions and achievements/glory on their minds. To find a leader in politics that truly cares about the lives of the suffering is trying to find the proverbial needle in the haystack.
