I was quite hopeful I was going to see a Modric and Kroos midfield partnership for atleast one more season before Modric bows out but then, my hope has been dashed. The story of Poch came as a surprise to me last night when it filtered in, I felt for him but then, the game is the game. 1st scenario
Wife: Babe, I want to go to my friend Funmi’s house, can I go?
Husband: No you can’t. Must u go to Funmi’s place. If u sit in ur house, will u die?
Wife, sits back home, fuming in anger that she’s not ‘allowed’ by her husband to visit her friend. But life goes on!
2nd scenario
Wife: Babe, I’m going to Funmi’s later in the afternoon, should I leave the kids with you or should I take them with me?
Husband: Abeg, carry ur children follow body oh, no let them finish me for the house (husband replies jokingly)
Wife then goes to Funmi’s with the kids and husband spends his alone time playing his much needed PS 5.
Later in the evening, husband picks up phone and calls wife,
Husband: Babe, are u coming home anytime soon, cos I want to know if I should wait till u get home to have dinner.
Wife: We already had dinner at Funmi’s. There’s rice in the fridge, please eat that. Will be home soon.
Wife gets home, everyone is happy, life goes on.
Reverse:
Husband: Babe, I’m going out later to play a game of padel with the guys later.
Wife: For what na, Shey u will not stay at home and spend time with ur family.
Husband: I’ve been home all day with u guys na, let me just go and have fun with the guys and I will try to be home as early as possible.
Wife: Me, I’m not in support oh. If u spend a full day with us, will u die.
Husband ignores angrily and still goes to play padel. Wife is pissed and this now led to a small quarrel but life goes on!
2nd Scenario:
Husband: Babe, I’m going out later to play a game of padel with the guys later. We will also go out to have dinner afterwards so u can go ahead and have dinner without me.
Wife: You and this padel sha. Person wey see u now go think say u and Nadal dey on the same level (wife responds jokingly). If u sha see ice cream, buy for me on ur way back.
Husband later heads out for padel, Wife spends her time watching nollywood on Netflix and prime. Husband gets back home after a fun time out with the boys, happy and life goes on!

In all honesty, based on these scenarios, which of these couples do you think would have a healthy, happy, peaceful home and if you were to actually choose for urself, which of this kind of relationship will u actually hope to be in?

Stella, of course I understand this but I also understand that it actually takes nothing, as in absolutely nothing to give urself and ur partner a stress free marriage. There are scenarios in my own personal life that if another person were in my situation, this would have been another recipe for this ‘hard marriage’. But the way this sensible man and I totally handle our situation ehn. One day one day, I will write a long ass epistle on things that could have made my marriage tough but just didn’t because we are just too intentional about each other to let that happen.

DeleteI was quite specific in the scenarios I pointed out because it’s the trending topic and I strongly believe a man or woman that behaves like that will also behave like this in every other aspect of their marital lives. His word will always be law in how the kids are raised, in how the home is run, may even extend it to the kind of career you can pursue.
This is my honest believe and is partly why I now see why many people say marriage is hard but for me, marriage is the easiest thing I have ever done in my life.

DeleteBoth scenarios are different doesn't mean the first one is a bad marriage besides there could be unread factors or scenarios between that couple that led to that first response which isn't obvious to the eyes of an observer. An observer will just notice response on the surface level and decide the wife is in a bad marriage which may not even be so.
Besides no one is 100 percent good except God so there would definitely be some good qualities husband one may have (that wife number one prioritises) which husband two may lack and vice versa and that doesn't mean husband two is more of a better husband because he doesn't have an issue with the wife going out. He may not have an issue with the going out aspect but frown at something else that husband number one may overlook or deem inconsequential or not worth being bothered about. So bad on all these I stated, I honestly can not judge who will have a happy home between both couples up there just from a single example.
I have two people I know
First Husband does not cook or enter the kitchen, doesn't help out at home to lift a finger but he pays for everything. If wife is not around. Kids can go hungry. He does nothing at home. But he doesn't eat outside. He doesn't keep friends. From work to church to house. My wife and me kind of man.
Second husband. Cooks better than the wife and even does most of the house chores, still pays for everything but eats out, keeps too many friends, hardly at home because he is always going from one party to the other.
I am sure both men also have other flaws I don't know about because I don't live in the house with them.
Who is good between both men? Depend on what the wife priorities.
One person marriage can never be a model for every marriage. People are different see things differently and have different quirks and like different things.
In all, the best is to marry someone who doesn't have an issue with thing or situation you priorities.
Like anon 10:39 said, priorities. People just post these things and they fail to tell us the "unread factors". I can't judge like that. Like I said, not this tone.
DeleteMy own marriage, we run everything by each other and on different occasions, my husband has talked me out of doing something. And I have done same too. And he calls whoever and be like "my madam nor allow me. Nor vex, next time". He's not even ashamed to say it sef🤦 because we both believe we have a say in each other's lives. Now, I do not believe anybody's marriage is sweeter than mine, even with all the freedom other wives seem to have.
Personal experience.
My husband is not the PDA type. I love PDA wth all my life. When we are together with my brothers inlaw and their wives, God!! Their PDAs will be making me very jealous. Me and hubby will get home, I will nag and finish his life. Recently, one of my brothers inlaw was caught cheating on his wife. With a particular girl. This has been going on for 6yrs. His own marriage is 6yrs. Meaning the sidechic is as old as his marriage. Then it started coming out, and I got to know that all the PDA displaying husbands were cheating massively on their wives! My God! Now I'm not bragging, but cheating has never been an issue in my marriage. I don't even think to that side because e never happen once, and God no go let am happen.
Now what am I saying? E get where everybody husband take good, e get where e take dey lack. Build your own and make it a peaceful and loving home.
Anything is possible.You will always emerge victorious,if you stay focus.You can overcome so much more than you think! Don't let your fear of what could happen make nothing happen!
