Court Fines VDM For Filing Objection To N1 Billion Defamation Suit Filed By Femi And Falz Falana

A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has dismissed social media influencer VeryDarkMan's (VDM) preliminary objections to a ₦1 billion defamation suit filed by human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son Falz.

VDM had argued that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case, claiming the alleged offense didn't occur in Lagos. However, the court ruled against him, dismissing his application for lack of merit and fining him ₦200,000.

₦100,000 each to Femi and Folarin Falana. Despite VDM's objection, the court will proceed with hearing the defamation case.

The Falanas are seeking a declaration that the publication was defamatory, a perpetual injunction restraining VDM from making similar statements, and a public apology.

  1. VDM needs a better lawyer. What is Deji doing? I hope he doesn't have enemies within his inner circle?

    1. Even if vdm hires the best lawyers
There’s so much he has put online to indict him
There’s no defence to his credit that won’t have loopholes wide enough to have him indicted
Leave Dele alone,he can only do so much
If the fool doesn’t learn,no lawyer can go back to unwrite or rewrite what he writes and says

  9. I don't understand why the court will award costs against VDM's preliminary objection.
The court should have simply ruled for or against the motion, and then proceeded to hear the merits of the defamation suit.
This will ultimately delay the matter as he is most likely going to appeal against this ruling.
