Attempts by yet-to-be-identified person to carry improvised explosive devices, IED, into Mogadishu Barracks, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory and cause havoc, on Monday, failed as vigilant military police and intelligence personnel prevented the carrier from entering the facility. Consequently, the IED exploded as the military personnel who were suspicious of the load the carrier was carrying directed him to move away from the military checkpoint far off, close to the bridge bypass.

Seven persons have been killed in a lone accident involving a truck laden with cement along Katsina-Ala-Zaki Biam Road. The accident, which occurred, weekend, left some other occupants of the truck with injuries.

Following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Monday approved 14 days for all defaulters of ground rent to pay their rent. A statement by Chijioke Nwankwoeze, the Director of Land Administration in the FCT, said owners of properties who defaulted will pay the sum of N5 million as penalty in addition to the ground rent owed.

. A former Senator in Plateau State, I. D. Gyang, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing the party’s deviation from democratic principles and lack of a people-centric approach. Angry youths in Rano Local Government Area of Kano State have gone berserk as they set ablaze part of the Rano Divisional police station over alleged brutality on one of their own, Abdullahi Musa. The police in a statement, said the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, was killed during the attack.

President Bola Tinubu will on Saturday, May 31, inaugurate Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as part of his working visit to Lagos, the Presidency said on Monday. Nigeria Police Force has identified and summoned officers captured in a viral video extorting road users.
In the video the officers could be seen demanding five thousand naira from each motorist who said they were returning from a burial.
One of the officers collected the money from each of them, claiming that the five thousand naira was for five liters of fuel.
The Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in a post on Facebook that the officers have been summoned to the force headquarters for necessary action.

National Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party, led by Senator Nenadi Usman, has endorsed the participation of the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the ongoing coalition meetings aimed at defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
It said the LP wholeheartedly welcomed the coalition movement driven by the Nigerian people, reaffirming Peter Obi’s right to contest the 2027 elections under its platform – should the ongoing coalition efforts fail to materialise.

Twelve children from different villages have been rescued in Abia State from a couple, Sunday Emebo and Blessing Emebo by the Abia State Police Command.
This was made known by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Spokesperson of Abia State Police Command, who explained that the couple were apprehended on 19/05/2025 at an alleged unregistered illegal motherless babies home in their apartment located at Ikot Ekpene road, Aba.
She said that the arrest of the couple and the rescue of the twelve kids were made possible through credible intelligence gathered by the Police Command, pointing out that the ages of the rescued children ranged from six to fourteen months.
