Mixed reactions are trailing the plan by the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde to renovate the government house with the sum of N63.5b.
Agodi Government House, previously known as Oke Ebo, was constructed during the colonial era.
It has served as the official residence of governors – civilian or military, who had governed the state in the past, from the defunct Western Region of Nigeria, Western State, old Oyo State and present Oyo State.
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has appealed to media practitioners in Nigeria, particularly those based in Abia State, to avoid dishing out fake reports that can creat fear.
He made the call on Tuesday while speaking at 2025 Media Vision Africa training in Umuahia.
The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, said that media practitioners should prioritize the reports that inspire confidence and not the ones that stoke fear.
While promising his administration’s continued partnership with the media in development of Abia and Nigeria, Otti cautioned the trainees in the program against applying propaganda in dissemination of their reports but to build their storylines with truth.
Otti further cautioned media practitioners against distortion of facts and truth but to be depth in interpretation of facts, saying that things that are not working in Abia should be reported side -by-side with the ones that are presently working.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday, disclosed that 26 suspects have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the massacre at Yelewata community, in Benue State. Egbetokun disclosed this while addressing reporters at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A house owner in the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos has been arrested for illegally converting his residential building into an abattoir.
The man was arrested at the house where authorities discovered unhygienic slaughtering activities taking place within the home, posing serious health and environmental risks.
Acting on a tip-off from a concerned resident, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, entered the premises and promptly condemned the operation.
According to the agency, the house owner violated the state’s environmental sanitation laws and now faces appropriate sanctions in line with established regulations.
The suspect is currently in custody, and the affected property has been sealed off by the authorities.

Borno State Police Command has disbursed a total of N13,428,659.95 to the families of ten police officers who died in active service.
The cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police in Borno State, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, during a solemn ceremony held on Monday at the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has said it will arraign the Chairman of MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, Adewunmi Ogunsanya, and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the company, John Ugbe, over allegations of breaching the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, 2018. Justice James Omotosho fixed the date on Tuesday after counsel to the commission, Chizenum Nsitem, made the application due to the defendants’ absence in court.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declined assent to the National Assembly Library Trust Fund (Establishment) Amendment Bill, 2025, citing conflicts with existing federal laws and policies. Oyo State Commissioner for Police, Johnson Adenola, has appealed to the residents of Ilero community in the Iwajowa Local Government Area of the state for calm following the invasion by suspected herders that led to the death of one person and the abduction of two others. On Tuesday, multiple sources said the incident, which occurred at the weekend, had thrown the entire community into palpable fear and panic.

ReplyDeleteI dunno if Seyi is aware ,no light in the community next to the airport, sometimes 3months , sometimes in a month it's less than 10hours!!!! This same airport is currently undergoing remodeling to enable it be international. Darkness enable criminals,
