The remains of prominent Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, were laid to rest in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday. His funeral prayer was attended by hundreds of people, who offered prayers for the repose of his soul.


A former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has clarified that there had never been any plan by the former president to undermine the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu especially through the removal of fuel subsidy. The Senate has postponed its scheduled North West zonal public hearing on constitution amendment to honour the late elder statesman and renowned business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who was buried in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced this during Tuesday plenary, explaining that the decision followed consultations with stakeholders in the North-West region.

 No fewer than 1,686 people were killed in at least 909 incidents of gang violence across Nigeria between January 2020 and March 2025, with the South-South and South-West regions emerging as the most affected zones. According to a report the SBM Intelligence released on Tuesday, Rivers State topped the fatality chart with 215 deaths, followed by Lagos (197 deaths) and Edo (192 deaths).

The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of no fewer than 13 persons – allegedly Ebonyi State indigenes – by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Ogboji community, Orumba South Local Government Area of the state. It was gathered that the armed men stormed the area late on Monday in two Sport Utility Vehicles and unprovokedly attacked the people, who were holding their monthly general meeting.

In recognition of his efforts to strengthen the historical and cultural bonds between Africa and the Caribbean, Saint Lucia has conferred its highest national honour, Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia, KCOSL, on Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu. The formal investiture was performed by the Governor-General of Saint Lucia, Errol Charles, on Monday night at the official reception for President Tinubu at the Government House, Morne Fortune, Saint Lucia.

    Majority of the roads in Edo state are death traps. If it's not motor accident, it's kidnappers. People pray and fast before embarking on any journey within the state environs.
