Prince Al-Waleed who was aged 15 years at that time was studying at a military college in London when the crash occurred.
He suffered severe brain injuries and internal bleeding, and was placed on life support at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh and despite occasional signs of movement like lifting his fingers in response to greetings, he never regained full consciousness.
His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, refused to withdraw life support, believing in divine healing and remaining by his son’s side for two decades.
Funeral prayers will be held at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh on Sunday, July 20, after the Asr prayer.
