Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Kachikwu alleged that Northern political forces enlisted Jonathan into the race as part of a plan to weaken the South’s political influence.
“In order to weaken the South, they have now drafted in former President Jonathan into the race who is alleged to be offering Peter Obi the position of Coordinating Minister of the Economy for him to support his ambition,” he said.
Kachikwu also alleged that Obi was told his chances of securing Northern votes were slim solely because he is Igbo.
“A Peter Obi has been told in very clear terms that he will never get northern votes as an Ibo man, and as such, he should accept to be Atiku’s running mate,” he added.
He accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, along with certain Northern elites, of retaining political power for decades without addressing the region’s high levels of illiteracy and poverty.
“They use the weapons of region, religion, tongue, tribe and poverty as they convince millions of poor Northerners that a southern President Tinubu hates them and is the cause of their poverty,” Kachikwu charged.
He condemned what he described as the intentional circulation of false information targeting President Bola Tinubu and other presidential hopefuls from the South.
Calling on Nigerians to resist Atiku and his allies, Kachikwu said, “We must all come to equity with clean hands and sincerity of purpose.
“We don’t burn our houses because we want to kill rats and cockroaches; sometimes we just need to make our houses clean so that rats and cockroaches leave on their own.
“My earnest prayer is that Nigeria will soon work for everyone of us,” Kachikwu said.

Can Jona just respect himself and stay away from Nigeria's presidential bid?
ReplyDeleteI don't care what anyone thinks, he was not a good president during his regime.
You don't read same book all over again and expect a different ending.
God bless you
DeleteI'm always surprised the way they praise him. He was not good at all.
Jonathan coming into the race is a strategy allegedly sponsored by the government in power to divide possible southern votes of Peter Obi and the Coalition which seems to favour Atiku. Everyone knows Jonathan isn't going to win. He can't handle Nigeria current situation now. He couldn't do that then, so what made him think he can do that now.
DeleteAs long as Nyesom Wike who controls PDP, calls the shot still works for APC and under Tinubu payroll, anyone fielded by PDP to challenge APC won't succeed.
So anyone telling you H.E Peter Obi is going back to PDP could be lieing to you. Unless he has no sense after seeing how Wike manipulated the outcome of Rivers state result by altering the figures.
I don't know why everyone want H.E Peter Obi on their side this badly. Man is the price I must say. Never in Nigeria history a man is being sorted this way.

Apc propaganda!!!
DeleteDumebi or whatever he is called is paid agent working for APC. Jonathan is eligible to contest for the office of the presidency and should do so if he wants. This said what is the the electoral value of Dumebi?
ReplyDeleteThe Peter Obi I know won't do that. Between Peter Obi and Jonathan who has the track record of good governance? The Jonathan whose tenure even though had some of the best assemblage of ministers recorded huge corruption scandals.
ReplyDeleteUnder his watch, the petroleum minister looted Nigerian treasury or was it the Dasuki gate.
Jonathan should honorably tell those trying to use him to jettison the idea if he still has any atom of shame in him. Was it not him the northerners carried a coffin with his photograph on it with an inscription RIP that almost got his mother heart attack thinking he was dead?
So what made him think he's being loved now by this same people? What gave him the confidence or impression he's going to win?

Where did you know Peter Obi from?. Tell us about your history or relationship with the Peter Obi you know.
DeleteMiss us with the name dropping. You don't know anyone of note and have wasted the better part of your youth supporting blood thirsty cowards that have decimated their hometowns for YouTube change, all for pipe dreams. You are living off the largesse of people who don't know how wicked it is to incentivise an adult male who is delaying his destiny and playing draft with his prospects while your mates and juniors succeed in the same Nigeria or outside of it.
DeleteTake a break from armchair analysis and permutations and face the project of your own self: what professional exams or training are you taking before the end of the year? What are you doing to develop yourself? How do you plan to make use of your degree? Are you in touch with your fellow alumni to see what they're doing and follow suit? All these distractions won't help you.
Hmmmm
