On the night of Tuesday, January 6, 2026, suspected cross-border bandits stormed the National Park Service office in Oloka Village, located in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The attack occurred around 9:00 p.m., and left five forest guards dead, with others critically injured.
Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed the incident, describing it as a devastating loss and noting that preliminary findings suggest the attackers were cross‑border bandits who infiltrated the area through the expansive forest terrain.
