Judge Awards Singer Veno Marioghae N210.000.000 Against Airtel For Copyright Infringement

The Federal High Court, Ikoyi, presided over by Honourable Justice Ibrahim Kala, has awarded the sum of Two Hundred and Ten Million Naira against Airtel Nigeria in favour of Veno Marioghae Mbanefo for copyright infringement of her song "Nigeria Go Survive".

    Being awarded compensation is one thing; actually collecting it is another.

    In Nigeria, the gap between court judgments and real enforcement is too wide. Until the system for collecting court-awarded compensation is strengthened, justice will remain incomplete for many citizens.
