His release came after sustained diplomatic efforts led by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu. She personally visited Egbaji during his hospitalisation and pushed for clemency. The breakthrough came when Benin’s President Patrice Talon granted a presidential pardon, which was formally gazetted on December 17, 2025.
Egbaji was finally freed on Thursday January 8, 2026

The only hardworking minister we have.

DeleteMe too
DeleteSame Here oo
DeleteWhat did he do?
ReplyDeleteWhen you see a Nigerian in a foreign jail, two things should come to your mind. Drogs or sxx related offence.
DeleteIn his own case, he was accused of rxping a 13yr old girl.
When we tell them that the things they do here and go scot free will send them to jail in foreign countries, that they should be careful, they won't listen.
Slapping a girls buttocks in some countries can send you to jail for sexxual harassment. Dem no no dey hear word.
Bad habits die hard.
He raaped a girl?
DeleteOk. Hope he has learned his lesson
Thank God for your life
ReplyDeleteAll Glory to God
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry but securing his release is so wrong if it is true he r@@ped a 13 year old girl. And to think a woman helped free him. This is why Nigeria's name will always be soiled at home and abroad.
