My grandmother was partly Fulani and a ChrisLam who took Sadaqah (charity) very seriously. She would often cook and share food and small cash in the neighborhood. So me sef wanted to be like her, but I no get shishi.
ReplyDeleteSo my own was to borrow from her bag (to pay back when I grew up) and do my own Sadaqah with my friends at school.
One day she caught me borrowing from her bag and e shock her. She sat me down, cautioned me, and then told me a story about three infamous brothers who were thieves.
She said they took their stealing to another level (strong juju things) that chiefs and kings honored and feared them.
They would rob, return to celebrate and be celebrated.
One day they saw an old JJC man who came to their town to do business, carrying a big bag of money.
They attacked him, snatched the bag and fled.
They stopped at a popular "beer parlour" to celebrate their win.
Everybody know say them be proud thief nah. So whenever them return from a trip, them go announce say them don successfully run people street, and have cash out o, then share money/buy drinks and food for people.
They were like celebrity y*h*o boys of their time.
Young girls dey rush them. Older women too. Even some long throat married women were secretly not left out.
When they finished eating and drinking that day, they unzipped the bag to bring out the booty, lo and behold, a raven 🐦⬛ and an owl 🦉slowly flew out of the now paper-filled bag. All three brothers exclaimed at once ''oh! Na birds o". Instant kolomental hit them.
They were taken for treatment spiritually and otherwise, but kolewerked.
By then, the JJC businessman was long gone without a trace.
Two of the brothers di3d later, but one is said to still be alive, with his hair all gray, and shouting "oh na birds o" at the back of an old market. Poor grandpa. Sad.
After hearing this story ehn, even if you be my blood or bestie, nothing go ever make me near your bag.🙅🏻♀️
