Why Marrying Away from Home, and Knowing Your Roots Still Matters

In my opinion, the relevance of doing proper due diligence before you marry someone cannot be overemphasized.

Growing up, my father repeatedly warned us never without doing background check. For a long time, I wondered why. He never explained. Much later, I heard that he was a bad boy who and many women bore children for him, many which he didn't know, hence the strong caution.

 Understandably, he did not want us unknowingly entangled with someone who shared blood ties with him elsewhere.

A male friend once confided in me that during a visit to his village last Christmas, he had sxx with a lady who later turned out to be his cousin. It was only after everything had happened that he discovered the truth. It took him a while to summon the courage to tell his mother, who later reassured him that no catastrophe would befall him since it was not premeditated.

In some cultures, however, this would be considered a serious taboo, and he might not have been so lucky. In others, he and his family would be required to appease the gods, regardless of the fact that it was unintentional.
I had my own moment of realization when I traveled to my hometown for a burial and discovered that I had numerous extended family members on my father’s side whom I had never met, not even once.

At the end of the day, it is crucial for extended families to be properly and early introduced. People travel. People relocate. And in this age of migration and diaspora, we can never fully predict who we might meet. Imagine falling in love with someone abroad, only to discover later that you share blood ties back home in Nigeria, after sxx, or worse, after pregnancy. How do you begin to explain that?

I think that many Nigerians are lacking in one major area: the obsession with the “me and my nuclear family” mindset. Personally, I think this is wrong.

Families should be tightly knit. We shouldn’t only recognize one another through Facebook profiles and occasional comments. Why not consciously organize inclusive family gatherings, where everyone is involved? This allows children to know who is who, builds familiarity, and even creates opportunities to resolve old conflicts. Most importantly, it helps prevent tragic mistakes, like unknowingly getting involved with a cousin, stepbrother, or stepsister.

From my friend’s experience, I learned two major lessons: premarital sxx and casual one-night stands should be discouraged, and families should, at the very least, know one another to a reasonable extent before couples decide to tie the knot.

You are talking for yourself oh, what of your children? and the generation after you?Nah God go save person and person pikin dem!!!

Men and women should stop having kids up and down.....

What of those women who have kids and give them up for adoption or drop them by the roadside? How do you know who they are related to? Blood is like magnet oh..

3 THINGS A WOMAN WILL SACRIFICE WHEN SHE TRULY LOVES YOU!

Any woman that truly loves you will always sacrifice these three things and if she doesn't then you need to Question the relationship.

1- Her body

A woman who is emotionally connected to you will naturally submit her body not because you asked or begged or pressured her but because she wants to, if she freely, willingly gives herself to you without you forcing anything that's emotional connection . If she withholds her body and nothing ever flows naturally bro she's not connected to you like you think period

2. Her money

I am not saying she should be sponsoring everything in your life no but women are nurturers that is their nature , so if she loves you she will spend her own money on you from time to time , maybe she buys something because she remembered you need it, maybe she surprises you with a gift she knows you will like, women do not spend money on men they don't love that is a fact .

3. Her time

This is the major sacrifice a woman makes when she truly loves you . She will make time for you even when it's inconvenient , even when she's tired , even when she's busy . A woman in love finds a way not an excuse . All this I'm busy maybe next time , let me see bro . She's not just not into you but when she loves you , she will show up for you, so remember a woman who loves you will sacrifice her body, her money and her time . If she isn't giving any of these , she doesn't feel what you think she feels for you period

UNEVEN JUDGEMENT BETWEEN A MAN AND WOMAN

A man will sl€€p with different women, and everybody in the neighborhood will know, but nobody will judge€ him when he wants to get married.

They will even say, “Thank God he is getting married. At least he will settle down.”
But when it is a woman sl€€ping with different men, people will judge€ her and even say she is not w0rthy to get married. No man should marry her.

You see the double standard?
So men are praised for getting married so they can stop moving around, but a woman who has been sl€€ping around is hindered from getting married.

This is not me supporting such behavior. This is a call for accountability.
If we don’t start judging men for their behavior, we will keep having the same problem. Weak men everywhere.
Even in marriage, when a man cheats, everybody will say the woman should forgive.
But when it is the woman that cheats, she becomes the b@d person and should leave the house.
Why is the judgment different when it comes to women?
These things I just mentioned are the reason many men don’t change.
They feel they can do anything and still find their way around it.
The same judgm€nt given to women should be given to men, and we will have a better society.
I have even heard some men say, “I am a man, and I have the right to cheat, but my wife cannot dare.”
That is the w0rst mentality, and society is encouraging it by allowing men to get away with it.
It is better we start holding men accountable so we can have more responsible brothers, fathers, and husbands.
What is bad for a woman is bad for a man.
