NDLEA Arrests Recidivist Drug Baron Who Has Been On The Run For 15 Years

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 58-year-old fugitive drug lord Uzoma Valentine Ilomuanya who has been on the wanted list of NDLEA and British authorities for over 15 years.

Ilomuanya was apprehended at a location in Lagos on Monday, February 23, 2026, following a high-stakes well-coordinated operation by officers of a Special Operations Unit of the Agency.

His arrest ends a long-standing cat-and-mouse game with the law following his long history of drug related crimes across Nigeria and the United Kingdom, which highlight a persistent involvement in global narcotics trade.

He was first arrested in February 2003 and convicted in the United Kingdom for drug trafficking; sentenced to nine years but was later released after two years in jail upon appeal. Not done with crime, he was again arrested in the UK in July 2011 for drug-related offences. He was granted administrative bail but jumped jurisdiction and fled to Nigeria.

Typical of a recidivist, Ilomuanya was in November 2018 arrested in Nigeria by NDLEA operatives following the discovery of two clandestine methamphetamine laboratories in his Obinugwu, Orlu LGA country home in Imo state and at his  Barrister Declan Uzoma Close Lagos house where officers recovered 77.960 kilograms of methamphetamine and extensive production equipment.

He was subsequently charged before a Federal High Court, Lagos after which he jumped court bail and has been on the run since then.

    2. What has your *"Igbo Kwenu"* tribalism bigotry comment got to do with a criminal drug baron ? 🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏾

There have been posts about other criminal drug barons from other tribes. Did you comment with their tribal greetings?

Drug kingpins, drug traffickers, drug mules and drug peddlers on the streets are all criminals who destroy the society.

Get some grey matter in your brain 🧠 so you can demand for a better society where the rule of law is respected and applied EQUALLY to both 'the powerful' political class and 'the poor' masses!

    3. You should know that criminality is not unique to any tribal group. It was in this country that a well connected core northern End d El a boss was beaten recklessly in his office by a gang of criminals he was supposed to be arresting and nothing was done. Those panel beaters , well known to the staff, openly complained of his greed and cutting them out of deals. He didn't complain or prosecute them. Government self throwaway face.

Abba the tailor has been told to bow and go after a watery case. The man pulling the strings and now cooling his heels on a government sponsored family vacation described the man who poured water into the case to make it watery his boy. Matter deep.

Stella, keep enabling bigoted comments for money. Do you think those who have stoked racial and religious tensions for which miss ailes are flying now will go scott free?
