The Courts had earlier declared Baruwa the rightful president, and his supporters moved in on March 23, 2026 to enforce the rulings but Police arrested Baruwa after the takeover.
MC Oluomo, elected by another faction in 2024, insists he remains president, saying he wasn’t part of the court case and has already filed an appeal with a stay of execution.
He accused Baruwa’s camp of vandalism and looting during the takeover.
